Your full-day tour begins with pickup from your Funchal hotel at 9am, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for eastern Madeira’s natural highlights.
You’ll ascend to the island’s third-highest mountain, Pico de Arieiro, which affords stunning island views.
The next stop is Ribeiro Frio, the starting point of a famous levada (irrigation channel) walk, where you’ll marvel at trout pools and learn about the prehistoric forest that covers Madeira.
Following lunch (own expense) in the colorful town of Santana, you’ll visit more incredible lookout points such as Ponta de São Lourenço, and stop off at Machico before drop-off at your Funchal accommodation.

Great all day tour of east Madeira with Lido tours and Nuno our mini bus driver, who was very informative and knowledgeable throughout. The highest peaks may be a bit too much for those that don’t like heights but the views are wonderful. Most stops are 20-30 minutes with an hour and a half in Santana for lunch and time to explore. We would highly recommend.

Saw lots of the island and recommend finding somewhere to pause and seek refreshments in Santana if not eating lunch
Nuno was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. He took us to some fabulous places on the East side of Madeira and throughout the 8 hours, provided great commentary on the history and natural resources of the Island.
We had the best Poncha at the last stop and the restaurant recommendation for lunch in Santana was excellent. Thank you Nuno !
Our tour was french and English.. would not recommend it the tour guide talked to much and a lot of information was boring and having to listen in both languages was torture. Listening non stop to him talk the whole day really ruined this day for us.
Great first time visiting the East side of the island of Madeira. A full day packed with beautiful sights and short walks. Our tour guide was great and explained everything to us and gave us lots of great information about the island! I would say that it is quite a long day in a bus so if you get travel sick take note! Lovely way to meet some people though and to visit the island.
Pick up is very handy and the bus in air conditioned with comfortable seats.

Amazing! Words cannot explain how beautiful this island is. The East is just spectacular and breathtaking. This is a great tour! It is small, not too many people which makes it very enjoyable and personalized.
Good way to see the East side of Maderia. Our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and made it an interesting day. We got to travel in a small group (minibus). Pickup and drop off were good and the company were prompt at responding when using the Viator App.
The tour was great and we saw beautiful views. Bruno was very friendly and we learnt a lot from him. Bruno was a fantastic guide. He showed us some beautiful places and recommended us a nice café and restaurant. We definitely recommend this tour.
Wonderful tour around madeira and the tour guide was amazing..he made sure to point out important locations and very informative..
Very good tour, good guide (Bruno). Not an issue for us but be aware that this was an 09:00 to 17:00 advertised but changed to 08:30 to 16:15 and also pick up point changed a few hundred metres.
Our tour guide Bruno was amazing! It was a fun filled day with many amazing sights and laughs! Our family of 10 ranging from 9 to 71 could all enjoy the tour!

Marco was awesome. He was knowledgeable, funny, courteous, engaging, and a wonderful spirit.
We saw so many amazing views. Got to try pancha for the first time. It was truly lovely❣️ Met some great travelers and loved every minute of it.
My only regret is that I had run out of euros during the trip, as I didn't plan ahead. I couldn't give Marco a tip. For this I'm sorry. Though my tip would be anyone booking this trip, I hope you get Marco!
Madiera is stunning! We had quite a few stops and our driver Patrick had a great sense of humor and tons of knowledge about the island
Pick up from hotel was on time. Good guide/driver speaking fluently in French & English. Tour party roughly 50/50.
Probably too long at 1 1/2 hours for lunch.
Fabulous day with Bruno- he was so informative, funny, excellent driver & made the day a pleasure.
He communicated across the different languages effortlessly.
He showed how beautiful the island is. Definitely recommend.
It was a great experiencia of seeing Funchal at the other side of the island! We had the opportunity to return to the island! Patricia was a great tour guide!
It was well paced, although would have appreciated a longer lunch break at Santana. We had time to eat but then no time to walk around the town. I only wished I booked the tour on the weekend when the farmers market was happening to also get a chance to see and buy local fruit and veg! The only thing was the van was not very comfortable for a whole day excursion. You could feel every bump on the road and also the seats were very narrow.
This would a great experience if it wasn’t for the cold, rainy and windy day which meant we saw few of the exceptional views. Do check the weather forecast before you head out.
We really liked this tour! Marco, our driver, was very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to ensure we had a great experience, especially as my partner has mobility issues.
We particularly liked stopping at Pico de Arriero and São Lourenço. The only negative point was the restaurant we had lunch at, Santana, which Marco suggested, but we didn't like it.
Interesting and entertaining commentary from excellent driver, happy to add a couple of extra stops. Wonderful views and scenery throughout.
Marco was a very informative tour guide. He provided us with great knowledge about east Madeira, especially the airport and its runway. His driving on steep roads was excellent. He kept us ahead of the rain most of the tour. I would recommend his tour to anyone.

This was a great way to see the east side of the island with a local informative guide. The tour took us to areas of interest and gave us time to walk around and explore on our own.
Easy and informative. A great way to see the Eastern side of island and all its glory. Drop off at our hotel in center of Funchal with dining options galore!

We had a Good variety of stops and interesting places, can be cool up on mountains. Take some cash as a lot of small stops prefer cash. Overall interesting tour, worth doing
