Great all day tour of east Madeira with Lido tours and Nuno our mini bus driver, who was very informative and knowledgeable throughout. The highest peaks may be a bit too much for those that don’t like heights but the views are wonderful. Most stops are 20-30 minutes with an hour and a half in Santana for lunch and time to explore. We would highly recommend.

It was a great experiencia of seeing Funchal at the other side of the island! We had the opportunity to return to the island! Patricia was a great tour guide!

It was well paced, although would have appreciated a longer lunch break at Santana. We had time to eat but then no time to walk around the town. I only wished I booked the tour on the weekend when the farmers market was happening to also get a chance to see and buy local fruit and veg! The only thing was the van was not very comfortable for a whole day excursion. You could feel every bump on the road and also the seats were very narrow.

This would a great experience if it wasn’t for the cold, rainy and windy day which meant we saw few of the exceptional views. Do check the weather forecast before you head out.

We really liked this tour! Marco, our driver, was very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to ensure we had a great experience, especially as my partner has mobility issues.
We particularly liked stopping at Pico de Arriero and São Lourenço. The only negative point was the restaurant we had lunch at, Santana, which Marco suggested, but we didn't like it.

Interesting and entertaining commentary from excellent driver, happy to add a couple of extra stops. Wonderful views and scenery throughout.
Laurie_J, Mar 2026
Marco was a very informative tour guide. He provided us with great knowledge about east Madeira, especially the airport and its runway. His driving on steep roads was excellent. He kept us ahead of the rain most of the tour. I would recommend his tour to anyone.

This was a great way to see the east side of the island with a local informative guide. The tour took us to areas of interest and gave us time to walk around and explore on our own.

Easy and informative. A great way to see the Eastern side of island and all its glory. Drop off at our hotel in center of Funchal with dining options galore!

Thanks Nino
We had a Good variety of stops and interesting places, can be cool up on mountains. Take some cash as a lot of small stops prefer cash. Overall interesting tour, worth doing

Cherie_L, Dec 2025
Beautiful views. There are a lot of windy roads that go in and out of little Villages. Nice stops where you can walk, shop a little and eat
Marcos was a great guide.

Good overall tour of the eastern region.
Interesting stops, if rather crowded at times!
Beautiful scenery.
Our guide, Nuno gave comprehensive guidance, switching with ease between two languages. Friendly and helpful with excellent driving skills. Thanks to him.
Suasn_S, Nov 2025
The tour was great and we packed in loads of visits and different sights, with just the right amount of time at each location. Very informative and great value for money.

Be aware of the potentially rapid changes that can occur in the weather in Madeira and especially in the mountains and dress accordingly.
Our guide Nini was nice and jolly and adjusted the trip after discussion to take account of the change in weather.

Just fantastic to experience this other side of the island.
Experienced tempermental weather and rugged terrain
Carol_S, Oct 2025
Roberto was very pleasant guide and a very safe driver on the zigzag roads. Gave lots of information and stops to see what he was talking about. It was a shame about the morning weather, but we can't control that. Other view stops were great with just the right time.
Maureen_D, Sep 2025
The guide was very informative. The views were bresth taking. In parts it was very misty very damp but beautiful. In other parts it was as if you were walking on the moon very volcanic. Terrific day.

Stress free tour, leave it to Marco!
Good pace, fabulous scenery and best of all we did not have to drive!
Michael_S, Sep 2025
Really enjoyed the tour of east madeira. The tour was informative and we saw a lot of spots in a day! Santana was very beautiful and had great restaurants for lunch!
Germaine_T, Sep 2025
You get to see the island which is beautiful. The guide was very good as were the other passengers. Plenty of time to explore and glimpse some far away places.
WendyDevorah_G, Aug 2025
Bruno was amazing! He showed us all around pointing out interesting facts and making cute jokes. He made the group fun. He also made sure everyone was happy with the amount of time we spent in each stop. Highly recommend!
Rob_S, Jul 2025
My wife and I went on this all day tour. We rode in a fairly new, air conditioned, minibus, which was safely driven by Bruno, who was also our guide. During the day we visited some beautiful parts of East Madeira, each step of which had an informative bi-lingual commentary from Bruno. The twisting roads could be a challenge to a visitor, but we never felt nervous with Bruno's unhurried and relaxed driving style. 7/10 for the tour. 9/10 for Bruno.

Great day. Picked up on time at our hotel at the RIU Madeira. Explored all east Madeira including long stops at the best view points and lunch in Santana. Guide was very informative and allowed us to get to the best stops including restaurants before the large crowds arrived. Dropped off at our hotel at the end. This was a great day. thank you Lido tours.
robert_m, Jun 2025
Very good day with lots of interesting information from the guide. beautiful places to visit and explore and plenty of time at each stop. The lunch time in Santana was too long at 90 minutes as its tiny and there seemed a heavy sales pitch to go to their recommended restaurant for lunch. But if you didn't want that sat around for too long which would be difficult in bad weather. overall recommended.
AC_C, Jun 2025
Great tour! Took us to many different places and gave some explanation for each one. The tour guide was nice and helpful as well. Definitely recommend!
