Top Long Island Dining Experiences

Experience the flavors and stories of Haiti through a tasting menu led by chef and author Marie Michele Destil. Enjoy a welcome beverage and authentic Haitian dishes while experiencing a food demonstration that highlights the ingredients, techniques, and traditions behind the cuisine. A reading and discussion from PRESERV brings food and storytelling together, followed by cultural conversation and Q&A. This intimate experience connects Haitian food, family, culture, and heritage in a personal setting at Gingerbites Haitian Bistro.

Cozy up under the stars with this beach fire. Chill out in adjustable oak canvas chairs while trained beach attendants tend to your needs. The fire is lit and maintained in a tin according to local regulations and provides you with warmth and light allowing you to relax. Your evening is easily customized to your preferences. S'mores are complimentary and provided alongside bottled water – perfect for a special occasion!

What truly sets this experience unique is its combination of hands-on cooking, authentic cultural storytelling, and immersive dining in one intimate experience. Rather than simply watching a demonstration, guests actively prepare two beloved Haitian favorites, Akra (Malanga Fritters) and Diri Kole (Haitian Rice & Beans), while learning the ingredients, techniques, and traditions that make these dishes an important part of Haitian cuisine. The experience is further enriched with a welcome Ginger Citronade tasting, a traditional Haitian dinner, a glass of wine, lively Haitian music, and engaging cultural conversations that provide deeper insight into Haiti's rich heritage. As a lasting keepsake, each guest receives an autographed copy of PRESERV, featuring a collection of Haitian recipes, allowing them to continue their culinary journey long after the experience ends.
