Top Budapest Day Trips

On balance, Attila did a great job providing a historical and fact-filled tour of Bratislava. We enjoyed the privacy of a nice van for ourselves, as well as the ability to change our itinerary to accommodate our interests. The first gift shop we were taken to visit was a bit of a tourist trap. We didn’t buy anything and I think our guide’s friend was slightly annoyed. Lunch was excellent. When we first arrived at the food hall, I saw nothing but tourists. I was disappointed and had low expectations. When the food arrived, I was very pleased: the cabbage soup and sausage were delicious. The caramel cream puff was also amazingly light and sweet. The five hours (round trip) were a bit of a hike from Budapest (easier to visit from Vienna) but it was a nice diversion and Attila was attentive and polite.

We had a great time with Ayman! He was very patient and took his time to make sure everyone was properly trained prior to the tour. He assured everyone felt comfortable to safely operate the Segway. While leading the group, he maintained a steady pace to assure the group stayed together and adjusted speed according to the comfort of the group. Ayman provided lots of historical facts along the way with every stop. Even with a singular rambunctious guest getting off course, Ayman remained patient and assured this guest as well as the rest of the group remained safe. Would highly recommend this tour especially with Ayman!

Unable to share a good comment. Never found the guide with a blue jacket. Learn not to ask for directions, everyone direct me to the opposite side. Time lost and left walking to the first tour site. Desperate I call aviator and I was told my tour guide had a blue umbrella. Lost my time and a viator refunded me. Suggestion for everyone, double check with viator exact location, get the proper translation and ask them to describe position of tour guide and umbrella color.

Benjamin was the best guide as he was a local and knew the Jewish history really well. He was able to bring his own perspectives and experiences to the tour and I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely recommend him for anyone wanting to learn about the Jewish history in Budapest.

Extremely enjoyable experience in a character-filled cellar in the heart of Budapest. Thomas led the group on an informative journey detailing the history of viticulture in Hungary. The wines presented were delicious and varied, truly highlighting the different varietals and flavor profiles available from Hungarian producers. The charcuterie and cheeses accompanying the wines were authentic products from local artisanal farms, and paired wonderfully with the wines. Definitely recommend investing in this experience, and will be ordering wines again and again for delivery to the US!

The excursion is great combination of the UNESCO site Holloko and we had 2 hours in Eger . We spent 1.5 hours at the castle and some time walking in the old town before returning to Budapest. We really enjoyed our day. Our guide Richard was excellent and his driving was also excellent.

We had the most amazing experience with our guide, Balazs, on a day trip from Budapest to Lake Balaton. He picked us up in his beautifully restored 1965 mint green Volvo, which was such a unique and fun way to start the journey. Driving through Hungary in this epic classic car made us feel like celebrities — even coming from Hollywood, California, people were snapping photos of us everywhere we went! Balazs is a fantastic guide – knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about sharing his local history and culture. Along the way, he gave us fascinating insights into both Budapest and Balaton, and he always made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. He took us to the most gorgeous lunch spot at Echo in Balaton, where the food and views were equally incredible. We crossed the lake, drank fresh sparkling water straight from the ground, and even watched the graceful brown swans. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and special. What really stood out was Balazs himself – friendly, personal, and accommodating to our requests, always going the extra mile to make the day perfect. By the end, it felt like we were exploring with a friend rather than just a guide. This tour was truly a highlight of our time in Hungary, and we can’t recommend Balazs highly enough!

Susan was by far the most knowledgeable travel guide we ever experienced. She is a walking encyclopedia for all historical events not just our tour related. It was a very worthwhile experience showing the Danube bend towns/attractions along with key attractions in Budapest. Very enriching experience.
