Beautiful part of Hungary

Karola_B, Jun 2026
The promise of this tour is excellent, visiting some of the best places accessible on a daytrip from Budapest. The van was clean and comfortable and our guide was personable and a good driver. Sadly, the information we were given at the various sites was a bit lacking in context and was more ‘fun facts’ than history based. Even though we decided not to go all the way to Esztergom, we felt rushed through the parts we actually did. The medieval Castle in Visegrád is interesting and beautiful, and the town of Szentendre very picturesque. Lunch was at best average food. The extra of visiting the restaurants 250 years old wine cellar was a definite bonus!

History Comes Alive!

Our guide, Zsuzsa was amazing! Her passion for Hungarian history and culture came through in every narrative that she told, exemplifying love of Magyarország. Without reservation, I recommend this tour!

Another part of Hungary most don’t see

Michael_M, Oct 2025
Zsofia (Sophia). Was a high energy positive personality and gave a great tour up through the Danube bend. We spent the majority of time driving in her car to various places starting with Pest and then moving over to Budapest. She offered a detailed explanation at each site and gave us Hungarian lessons along the way. We stopped and walked at several locations including Visagrad (and the castle), to Esztergom and the stunning basilica, I to Slovakia, to the lovely village of Szentendrei You can tell she had done this for decades as she has a mental script of everything and continues to talk all through driving in the all the way up the country side. The drive up is pleasant but it is a tad longer trip than some people would want. As an American, the long history of the Hungarians and all the occupations such as the Romans, the Ottoman Turks, the Hapsburg dynasty, Austria Hungarian empire, the Nazis, the Soviets, the long period of communism and then the transition to capitalism is fascinating!! Zsofia is a true Hungarian and loves to talk about her country. It is probably not for everyone as, like I stated she is high energy and forward, which would probably not work for some subdued, less adventurous Americans, but it worked for us!! The only negative would be the length of the trip (Hungarian traffic is quite unpredictable) as you may only have a few day budget and it might take away from some activities/sites in Budapest.

Great trip

Excellent opportunity to view areas outside of Budapest. Susan was a great guide providing all sorts of historical background on these three sites as well as safely driving and guiding us.

Enriching tour with Susan

sudip_n, Aug 2025
Susan was by far the most knowledgeable travel guide we ever experienced. She is a walking encyclopedia for all historical events not just our tour related. It was a very worthwhile experience showing the Danube bend towns/attractions along with key attractions in Budapest. Very enriching experience.

Countryside outside Budapest

Stephen_C, Jul 2025
Seeing the countryside was a wonderful contrast to the Budapest city tour. The cathedral, castle, and quaint towns were a refreshing change. Nora was an exceptional tour guide. We highly recommend this tour!

Couldn’t have asked for more

Eli_t, Jun 2025
The tour takes you out of the city, and brings you to key historical sites, with amazing views, and really great shopping experiences. My guide Sophia, was infinitely knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about the region. I wouldn’t miss out if you’re looking into this…

Hungarian Countryside

Pamela_W, Apr 2025
The tour allowed us to see the Hungarian country side. Steve our driver, was very knowledgeable and showed us so many sites along with the ones included in the tour. Lunch was amazing. It was a wonderful way to end our trip.

Definitely worth seeing!

Ilona_B, Aug 2024
A long drive but worth it. What a lovely town but lunch shouldn't be included as there are better restaurant options, alternatively, a better restaurant should be chosen.

Danube Bend Beauty

Wonderful! A great way to see some of Hungary outside of the capital. Susan was our guide and was very knowledgeable and well traveled. The lunch was delicious. Appreciated the drive by of the Roman ruins.

Sunny trip to the Danube Bend

Ed_A, Apr 2023
Susan our guide for the day was great. Very informative about all the places we visited, the history of the country and her life as a tour guide. We were lucky with the weather and had a great trip to see a bit more of the country during our stay in Budapest. Highly recommended

Interesting, fun and value for money

Robyn_W, Jun 2022
Absolutely recommend this tour for history, culture, food and fun! Our driver, Susan, was an absolute encyclopaedia of history and local knowledge. We had plenty of time for photos and were shown some amazing views. Lunch - 3 courses - in Szentendre was delicious and, as a bonus, the restaurant has a wine museum and abundant supply of local wines. Our boat ride back was a perfect end to the afternoon. Definitely recommend Susan very highly!

Second Danube Bend Tour

Tiberius_L, Jul 2019
Wonderful way to see the Hungary! Nora was an awesome driver and guide. I did the same tour on a bus last fall. The private car was only slightly more money but a vastly better quality day.

Response from Host, Jul 2019

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We are always happy to provide great service to our Guests, and I am happy to read that your experience was so positive! Hope to see you again here soon, Best Regards, Susanna

Our group of 4 was picked up at our hotel by our guide, Susan. She expertly drove through Budapest and we headed to the Bend area. We drove to Slovakia and looked across the Danube to the church on the hill called Esztergomi that was beautiful. We then drove to Visegrad and looked at the ruins. We had a terrific venison lunch at a hunting lodge and then drove to Szentendre where we were to catch a boat to return to Budapest. The ship was in for maintenance so the Viator company organized a city boat tour instead. Drove in to the city, had the short tour and were driven back to our hotel. We all agreed that it was the best tour that we had ever taken. Susan was knowledgeable and a showed a passion for her country. We would recommend this tour especially if you have been to Budapest before and want to see something different from the city. Great value.

Susan spent the day showing us Esztergom, The Bend and sites of Visegrad, Sloavakia, and a lovely restaurant and the shops in Szentendre. Susan shared her knowledge of Budapest Buddapescht, it's history, politics, and culture. She was so kind to us, and went the extra mile to drop us at St. Stephen's so we would not miss the organ concert at 5:00 PM. She is a great tour guide, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend spending the day with her.

This was probably the most disappointing tour ever - for the price we did not expect to be collected in the guide's private small car with stuffed toys on the back window and no view whatsoever for the "scenic drive ". the guide gave us facts with no interest - the lunch was awful! Not recommended.

Stephen was amazing. On time, very knowledgeable, and personalized our tour. A nice roomy van and a pleasant day even though we had rain. The Basilica at Esztergom was amazing and I am now interested in finding out more about it. Lunch was very good with plenty of wine to go around. Unlike another tour we had that gave us each 2 oz. of wine with our meal. This was one of the best days we had on our 14 days holiday. Also the trip to the wine museum with tasting gave us some samples of great wines of Hungry. Thanks

Grazie.
