We were very disappointed with the vampire tour. Earlier today, we had an amazing Segway tour, but the vampire tour did not feel suitable for adults at all. The stories and the guide’s storytelling style felt much better suited for young children.
We left the tour after 40 minutes. In the second stop.

Buda Castle is obviously a ‘must see’ visit, but this nighttime tour is actually better - as the buildings are lit up and the nighttime views across the Danube are spectacular. However, for us, the highlight of the tour was definitely our guide (Peter) - who enlivened up the 2 hour tour with historical anecdotes and gruesome tales from the past. All delivered in true “storyteller” fashion, projecting his voice across the group, interacting with everyone and keeping us thoroughly entertained. A great evening.

A remarkable dark tourism tour through Buda Castle. Our guide Bernadette told such great stories with a dark sense of humor and picked the perfect spots for us to stop and listen to them. I liked the story about Elisabeth best. I'm definitely going to try that out at home. Haha.

The walk around Buda Castle and the ghost stories were very interesting and entertaining. It was fun to hear about Dracula especially. Buda Castle and its grounds were so beautiful at night. Unfortunately, and to no fault of our fabulous guide, Peter, it was a little hard to hear at times because there was a loud wedding going on at the castle. On that particular night it would’ve been helpful for him to have had a microphone headset, but like I said above, not his fault that it was exceptionally loud! He was outgoing and informative, which made for a very fun experience.

It was a very fun and interesting tour. Our guide, Bernadett, was delightful, funny and knowledgeable.

Whilst not quite my cup of tea I can imagine it'll be a lovely tour for proper vampire enthusiasts. The tour guide was great and the stories he told were entertaining.

This was a great tour! It had a excellent mix of history and a ghostly creepy factor that made it truly enjoyable.

It is a very interesting story about the darker side of Hungary and some of its people in history and the stories that come from them.

Fabian was a charismatic and enthusiastic storyteller. He told the legends of various vampire and other folklore creatures very well.
He also deftly navigated us around construction, other tour groups and a packing up festival while trying to keep the vibe light and fun

What a delightful tour. Our guide, Virag, was fantastic. Her stories, her enthusiasm, her dramatic flair and her beautiful singing voice brought the myths and legends to life. To just walk through all that Buda has to offer in the evening and to be entertained with stories was an unexpected highlight of our time in Budapest. Totally worth the time and money.

Amazing tour and Bernadette is a very fun tour guide, her stories told us great history in an incredibly interesting and fun way.

This tour was excellent from start to finish. Easy to find meeting point. Good walking pace and thoroughly entertaining. Tour guide was amazing brought life to the stories he was telling. Definitely do this tour when you go to Budapest. The 2 hours went so quickly even though we had been on our feet all day!

Very funny and informative. Don’t take this tour too seriously and you will have an incredible time
Fabulous Fabian 5 star.
Mom_T, Aug 2026
The tour was full of oral stories told at various outdoor locations around the Buda Castle. Make sure you enjoy listening to stories about Vampires and folklore. If you do then you will enjoy the tour! Our guide Peter was great, as he got really into it. Three stars as it turns out this wasn't our thing.

Bernadette was funny and knowledgeable, great guide and tour! I would recommend to all … A++++++++++
Sheila_O, Aug 2026
Don't go .I have been on ghosts vampire and Dracula tours and this one has to be worst. First of all you couldn't hear what he was saying even when you were up close to him as he was trying to put on a vampire accent which didn't work. He mumbled and would forget what he was saying halfway through a sentence. He was also late and the tour didn't start until 8:30 p.m.

Low impact lots of fun and our guide was a great story teller she had an amazing singing voice as well

Our family's tour of Buda Castle turned out to be one of the most entertaining, insightful, and unexpectedly wonderful experiences of our entire trip. What made it truly exceptional was our guide, Peter, whose storytelling talent and deep historical knowledge brought Budapest’s darker past to life in a way that felt both educational and thrilling.
Peter has that rare gift of making history feel like a living, breathing thing. He wove together tales of medieval intrigue, wartime secrets, hidden tunnels, and the city’s more shadowy legends with a perfect balance of humor, suspense, and compassion. Our daughters were completely absorbed. Peter kept all of us engaged with vivid descriptions, clever anecdotes, and a pace that never dragged. His passion for Budapest’s past was obvious, and his ability to connect those stories to the present made the experience feel meaningful rather than just informative. By the end, we felt like we had walked through centuries of history, guided by someone who genuinely loves sharing it. If you’re visiting Budapest and want a tour that’s fun, fascinating, and unforgettable, we can’t recommend dark‑history tour at Buda Castle highly enough.

If you like history, and the dark side of it, you will like this tour. Get past the trek up th unending stairs and you are in the castle grounds.
Victoria_B, Aug 2026
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and stayed in “character,” so he was a 10/10. The tour, however, was VERY physically demanding. The tour was also very long and not very engaging.
salvador_m, Aug 2026
Wow what an incredible experience. I really enjoyed and appreciated Sigmund our tour guide. A ++++++
tametm, Aug 2026
Guide was entertaining for the full two hours, though they were late and the group size was too large.
Melanie_B, Aug 2026
Lots of stairs but so great. Learn about historical Hungary. Saw Gellert hill, Parliament lit up, and Fishermen’s Bastion.
Jessica_W, Jul 2026
Our guide was...excentric. The stories were kind of rambling and the tour ran way over time. We ended up leaving after it extended an extra 45 minutes (and still going). That said, we both felt it was favorite activity in Budapest, but more because it was so bad, it became hilarious.
Amanda_V, Jul 2026
A lot of walking, particularly up stairs. Bring a drink as you'll need after climbing to the top. Make sure your phones battery is full as the scenery is beautiful tjere
Cynthia_C, Jul 2026
Very informative overview of Buda Castle and a little Hungarian history. Quite a bit of walking and lots of stairs. No real talk of vampires, but tales that could be the basis. One big issue was it was hard to hear the guide. Very noisy city and then the accent made it hard to follow.
David_B, Jul 2026
Enjoyable experience which combined history and legend presented in a fun way.
Voltar was a character with good story telling abilities.
Lena_W, Jul 2026
Really awesome tour in Budapest! My apologies, I don’t want to misspell our guide’s name, but she said it means “flower” in Hungarian. Our guide dressed the part and even brought a lantern to go with the theme. She was really great at telling stories about the history of Buda Castle and the legends that came from it. It started to rain half way into the tour and it just made it even more aligned with the theme! Really recommend this tour if you love history and mixed with some fiction. Side note: Countess Elizabeth deserves justice!
