Great Tour!

It was a really great tour! Super interesting and fun. Our tour guide, Max, told us a lot about the history of Tampa and the many different types of people that have lived here through the years. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, it was wonderful!

The tour guide walked us through the downtown Tampa area and provided information on the history and significance of a variety of sites. The tour was okay but clearly the guide had memorized the script and his knowledge of Tampa did not go much beyond that.

We are so sorry that you didn’t enjoy the Downtown Historic Walking Tour. Our guides are given a script but I encourage new guides to take on questions, then learn from anything they don’t know the answer to. Come back and try us out again. In time, all of our guides are knowledgeable of Tampa’s history. They come to me with questions. If you Come again. Ask for Max. I’ll make sure you love it.

We very much enjoyed the tour. Max was wonderful talking about Tampa history. He had a lot of information on the area and was quite personable and engaging. Definitely an interesting tour and you learn so many interesting things than if you were just walking around on your own. He also does a Ybor tour which is very close and also very interesting.

Nothing really stood out. The tour guide spent a lot of time taling about her husband who had just written a play. We did not see much of downtown Tampa. The tour guide also made several mistakes.

An awesome walking tour

Elizabeth is a walking knowledge of the Tampa Bay. She and her husband are instrumental to the community and tourism. She shared how the city grew from just 750 residents in the 1800's to the populous it is today due largely to Henry Plant's railroad, phosphate and the cigar industry from Cuba. Lots of crime in the early 1900's. Times were hard for the Seminole Indians who were forced out of Tampa Bay after years of fighting with the military. Beautiful architectural buildings to see on the walking tour. The beautiful Sacred Heart Catholic Church built in 1905, the Henry Plant Museum, the Tampa Bay Hotel and nearby River Walk with lots of shopping and dining. Ybor City nearby.

A Historical Walk Into the Past

In celebrating our 36 wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to take the Downtown Tampa Historic Walking Tour. It was well worth it! We learned so much in just a couple of hours. We are both encouraged to dig deeper!
