Not in a great neighborhood. Guide was friendly, but the script was quite poor. You do not enter any of the buildings and most are viewed from far away. We left in the final 15 minutes to go to a restaurant along the way.

I’m sorry to hear that our historic neighborhood was not to your liking. Shockoe Bottom has some grit to it, as it is our oldest neighborhood, but it is safe and we have never had a significant issue in our years of operation.
Regarding the script, I’m sorry to hear that the true history and years of research that were put into the ghost stories did not entertain you. Most people appreciate our stories for their authenticity, as we are unwilling to embellish facts and personal experiences for the sake of a cheap thrill.
Our tour is noted as an outdoor tour.
To say that most locations are viewed from “far away” may be your assessment, we believe that to be fundamentally untrue. Most stories are told on the doorstep of the subject location, or from across the street. There are maybe one or two stories that involve the neighborhood at large.
I’m sorry to hear that you left early, as you missed out on what many people consider to be a neighborhood highlight, the Poe Museum.
We put a lot of effort into our tours, and our Shadows of Shockoe has been enjoyed by thousands of people over the last 21 years. I regret that you could not see our neighborhood and our tour as many other people have.

The FreeMason building was amazing to see. I absolutely loved learning about Edgar Allen Poe. The beautiful house the corporate man owns was nice.
