We were really really lucky with our trip just us and another couple. The owner and his family were extremely welcoming and had a good sense of humour. Horses are beautiful and really well taken care of. The ride itself was very chilled and the two guides who came with us were brilliant. Highly recommend to everyone, doesn’t matter on your horse riding experience.
Will be rebooking this the next time we come.

The horses are gorgeous and the guides were so kind. It was a very easy trek with two kids. The horses know exactly what to do. You can relax and enjoy the scenery. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend!

The owner was great with communication. They picked us up at our hotel. He was very friendly as was the rest of staff at Laxnes. The horses were gorgeous, friendly and fun to ride. Our guide was a pleasure to talk to. We would book the ride again and highly recommend Laxnes Icelandic Horseback Tour to everyone.
Definitely book with them. I was later coming in to Iceland than anticipated and was going to miss my planned trip they were incredibly kind and offered to move my excursion to later in the day. Pick up and drop off was very smooth. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The horses were beautiful and a great ride. The views were beautiful.
Nice walk through beautiful countryside. Went through 2 rivers, saw mountains and fields. Horses knew their jobs. Some horses were a bit frisky but nothing even the beginners couldn’t handle. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or let the leaders know if you’re not comfortable with something. The two young women leaders clearly love the horses and their job. The horses and the tack could use a little scrub and polish.
This established family run business does not disappoint!. They are very accommodating and calm with newcomers to their farm. Their horses look healthy and happy! I loved my horse. He was so sweet and fun.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Fantastic guides and adorable majestic horses. Having the opportunity to ride the tölt was a once in a lifetime experience that I'm so grateful to have had. Greatly enjoyed chatting with the owner on the way back to my hotel. Highly recommend this well managed family farm!

Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Our guides were great about giving us opportunities to go faster, and I noticed that they were great at ensuring less experienced riders were supported.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience start to finish! We opted for transportation from/return to the city, and pick up was less than a block from our hotel and right on time in a clearly marked van.
We arrived at the stables and were greeted cheerfully by the staff. They took care to match up guests with horses based on experience and comfort level, and then tacked up the horses once we were paired for our ride. The ride and views were beautiful. (I forgot to start /stop watch at beginning and end but my estimate was about 5 miles that we rode.)
It ended up being what we've been told is typical Icelandic weather, sunny, then rainy, then sunny again. We had a beautiful rainbow with the mix of rain and sun.
Our guides were attentive and shared with us about Laxnes farm and their horses, and other Iceland tidbits. The horses knew the routine and were so sweet. They seem well taken care of, and we got to reward them with soft, delicious looking fresh bread after the ride!
The staff sat with us afterward and we chatted for a while, which felt nice that they weren't rushing us to leave right after our ride.
I would definitely book this again if I return, and highly recommend this experience to others!

This was such an amazing experience! It was raining in Reykjavik when the van picked me up (super easy pickup, the van is well marked with their name and driver was on time) but by the time we got to the horse farm, got suited up in our thick, waterproof gear that was provided it had stopped raining and we had a wonderful experience! The young guy who was our guide had so much knowledge and a lot of fun stories about the horses and what it was like growing up in Iceland working with the horses. The Icelandic horses were so wonderful, very sure footed and knew what their job was! Be sure you are able to physically mount and dismount without a mounting block. I had only ever ridden western style but Icelandic riding is kind of a mix between English and western styles so was easy to adjust. One person in my group had never ridden before and a couple of times she needed help so if you aren’t experienced, make sure to stay relaxed in the saddle, keep your heels away from the sides of your horse as you ride (or they may think you want to go faster!) and pull the reins towards you with both hands to stop. About halfway through you will get a break where you dismount in a field, let the horses graze a bit and take lots of beautiful pictures. My first day in Iceland I took this tour and it was the perfect start to my trip! Highly recommend!
My wife and I did this tour came from pick up to drop off. Everything was seamless and our guide guides were amazing. The horses were calm and gentle, and the scenery was breathtaking.
The horses at Laxnes Farm are friendly, beautiful and very healthy. The staff is kind and took us on a beautiful trail. I rode in the advanced group which was fun because we spent most of the time at the Tolt, which is very comfortable! I felt very safe the entire time. Highly recommend!!
I really enjoyed this excursion. The operator picked me up from a downtown bus stop for the ride out to the farm. They did a nice job of matching horses with rider experience and I ended up with a sweetheart of a horse. I'm a novice and I thought I might struggle, but once they helped me up, it was a lot of fun. The ride was longer than I expected, and went through some beautiful countryside. The escorts checked on everyone regularly during the ride. It would have been nice to learn more about the Icelandic horse breed, but the group was about a dozen people, so there wasn't much of a chance for that. I would recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a fun outdoor experience.
The staff is very helpful with both beginners and experts. The two hours walk was comfortable and featured beautiful scenery with green rolling hills and a farm in the distance. The day I went was very cold, rainy, and windy (late Aug). I recommend wearing a warm woolen base layer underneath a rain jacket and water resilient gloves. The farm issues water proof pants. They served hot beverages afterwards. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
They provide pickup/dropoff. Horses are well mannered & look well cared for. Trail ride is through beautiful scenery to a waterfall & back - about 90 minutes. Geared to riders, non riders with excellent attention to safety & no need for riding gear. Helmet provided. It was such a treat to ride one of these extraordinary horses, & outfitters made sure we had the best possible experience.
Even though it takes 3 hours, the ride is much less time. Three hours is mostly pick up and drop off.
Absolute one of the best experiences you could do in Iceland. The staff here is wonderful and very accommodating. We had absolutely a blast. I would do it again for sure.
The family that runs it is wonderful. The horses are so beautiful and have interesting names and personalities. We were properly fitted for head gear and shown how to get on and off the horse. The guides made sure saddles, reins and stirrups were fitted correctly and taught us how to tell the horse where we want to go. The guides are all wonderful, helping us all through the ride. It was an amazing experience!
It was a family owned horse farm and the owners take great pride in the customers’ experience. It was my favorite tour in Iceland!

Very well organized and I liked that they picked us up at the hotel. Very low stress. I had not been on a horse in many years but I felt safe and well looked after. The scenery was beautiful. Very friendly staff that gave clear instructions.
The weather was perfect so that was a plus. The people were so nice and helpful. Our pickup was right on time. It was a very relaxing ride. I’m not an experienced rider and it wasn’t a problem
Great excursion on a cruise port day in Reykjavik! The farm was gracious enough to accommodate a last minute change on our pick up and drop. The staff at the farm were extremely helpful in determining each rider’s comfort and experience and paring horses accordingly. The horses were great and the trails were beautiful, we enjoyed the scenery. Would highly recommend.

We all really thought it was a very fine experience. At first I was kind of scared but once the guides told me a few basics it felt great. The horses were calm and usually listened, and it was a pretty nice ride with a great view of a lot of mountains.

I was picked up directly from the cruise ship terminal and taken to the farm, where the entire staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality. The ride was fantastic, and it was clear they genuinely care about making sure everyone has a great time.
After the tour, I needed transportation to my hotel instead of returning to the cruise ship. The owner drove me to my hotel without hesitation, which was incredibly accommodating.

The countryside was beautiful, horses were amazing and the staff at Laxnes couldn’t be better. My horse Casper and my husband’s horse Gia were very sweet.
