For the price paid, the wrong sandwich served in a mosquito ridden local park ground to save the owner dollars versus taking the private tour for $900 to a local restaurant is unacceptable. Look elsewhere.

I’m sorry to hear you received the wrong sandwich—that’s not the experience we aim to provide, and I appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
As for the picnic lunches, the decision wasn’t made to “save the owner money.” It was made to improve the overall guest experience. The Badlands has very limited food options, and during peak times, restaurant waits can exceed an hour. Offering picnic lunches allows our guests to spend more time enjoying the stunning scenery, rather than waiting inside a saloon or café.
I’m also sorry you had to deal with mosquitoes. We’ve had an unusual amount of rain this season, which has definitely increased bug activity more than usual. While we do our best to prepare for nature, some parts of the outdoor experience are out of our control.
Most guests have shared how much they enjoy the convenience and flexibility the picnic option provides, but we always appreciate honest feedback and use it to keep improving.

Edit: I did go back through my records. I was concerned that you mentioned that you had paid $900 for your private tour. If that is what you truly paid, you need to go back to Viator to see why you were over charged. We received $507 for the tour we provided for you.

Black Hills Adventure Tours is a wonderful tour company. Even though I booked through Viator and Viator sent me the wrong location for the tour pick up, the owner, Carrie as well as the guide, Aura both reached out to me and resolved the mix up quickly. Aura made our private tour of the Badlands, Wall Drugs and Scenic very interesting and fun. She has a great personality with a spirit of adventure that made the whole day very enjoyable!! Clearly Blackhills Adventure Tours is a professional company that cares about providing the best experience for its customers.

We really liked that we were pick up and dropped off at the place we were staying at. The whole tour was exceptional even caught in some road construction and that took an hour off our schedule that wasn’t counted for but Mike didn’t let that get in the way he continued and finished with the whole tour experience.
