- Vehicle Restrictions on the Black Hills Loop Drive: Height restrictions apply along the Black Hills Loop Drive, as large RVs cannot fit through the tunnels on Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. If possible, drive a regular vehicle, or if towing, detach and leave your trailer behind.
- How To Access: After booking, you’ll get an email and text with setup instructions and password (search “audio tour” in emails and texts). • Download the separate tour app by Action • Enter the password sent by email and text. • MUST download the tour while in strong wifi/cellular. • Works offline after download.
- How to start touring: Open Action’s separate audio tour guide app once onsite. • If there is just one tour, launch it. • If multiple tour versions exist, launch the one with your planned starting point and direction.

On the presidential trail there's a lot of steps, like 450 actual steps. Wasn't as bad as it sounds. I would do it again.

The information was great and the app was easy to use almost all of the time. We took the alternate route through Custer State Park on the wildlife loop and the app never picked us up when we got to the other side. So we had to try our best to figure things out which caused great frustration.

Since the Black Hills tour is GPS-based, taking detours like the wildlife loop in Custer State Park can sometimes cause the app not to trigger automatically. You can always start at a nearby stop and drive past it—the app will pick up the narration automatically. For future customers, this purchase also includes the Custer State Park & Mount Rushmore audio tours, so they can finish one tour and seamlessly move to the next without any issues. Mickie, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you had with the tour. To get the best experience, use the provided password to download the tour from the app before you start, as it works offline. If you weren’t able to hear the audio, were you able to connect the app to your car stereo for audio narration? My app doesn't support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for navigation yet, but you can still hear the audio through CarPlay. If you didn’t reach out for assistance, I’m available daily from 9 to 6 EST. My Husband & I thoroughly enjoyed the audio. It was interesting & learned much more than driving the beautiful area without a ‘guide’. It works off-line as long as the app has been downloaded beforehand. It was easy to use & easy to find the starting point. Highly recommend!

This was great option to hear the history and point out sights along the way. Able to get out and it just picked up where you were using GPS. Didn't really work inside Custer State park for some reason.

Iron Mountain and the one way bridges were interesting. Enjoyed the ability to do the tour at my pace and it would kick in whenever I hit a spot where it had something to say.
