Pickup is offered from select hotels in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. For small group tours, we do not pick up from private residences and pickup is not guaranteed from all hotels, even if your hotel is on the list. If you choose a hotel as your meeting location, please note that free parking is not guaranteed. To confirm parking availability, contact the tour supplier directly. Their contact information will be provided on your prepaid voucher. Pickup time is between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The supplier will reach out the afternoon before your tour with your exact pickup time. Return time is expected to be between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. For private tours, we do pick up from most hotels and private residences in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. Please be aware that DETOURS is not responsible for late returns due to traffic or other unexpected delays. If you don’t see important emails from the supplier, be sure to check your spam or junk folder. For last-minute bookings made after 7:00 PM (Arizona time) the night before your tour, confirmation is not guaranteed. You may be required to meet at a designated hotel instead. Our office will contact you before 6:00 AM on the morning of your tour.

After morning pickup at select locations in Phoenix, Scottsdale, to Tempe. Relax on your drive through the Sonora Desert, en route to some of the American Southwest's most beautiful highlights.
Your drive brings you through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as you increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As you continue further into northern Arizona, travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, one of the largest contiguous forests of ponderosa pines in the world.
You will pitstop in Sedona, which includes a photo stop at Bell Rock, approximately 30 minutes of free time in Uptown Sedona and the scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon
Your van climbs up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) before you reach your first stopping point in Grand Canyon National Park. Expect ample time to explore the features around the deepest and widest part of the canyon, which measures 277 miles (445 km) in length. Visit attractions such as the El Tovar Hote,l and Hopi House in Grand Canyon Village, and have time to shop, go for a walk, grab lunch (own expense), and visit cultural exhibits along the rim.
Your tour ends in the evening upon your return to your starting point in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

- Starting Jan 1st, 2026, the tour supplier is required by law to confirm US or Non-US citizenship which will determine if an additional entry fee is required. For non-US citizens, the tour supplier must collect an additional $100 per person (age 16 or older), payable in advance to the tour supplier.
- Arizona state law requires children under 8 years to have either a child seat or booster. Child seats are not provided, please bring your own and notify supplier
- Minimum age is 3 years and guest must inform supplier they will provide car seats or boosters.
- Wheelchairs and walkers are acceptable as long as they fold up and can be slid into the vehicle. You must let the supplier know if you are bringing either.
- We do not guarantee pickup for all hotels. Even if your hotel is on the list, there may be a chance you'll need to meet at an alternate location. Any guest staying outside of Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe will be required to meet at an alternate location to be determined by supplier. Tour supplier contact details will be provided on your pre-paid voucher.
- The Grand Canyon South Rim is a 7,000 foot elevation, please note this if you have concerns about altitude.
- There is NOT a restroom on the van. Comfort stops are made throughout the day.
- You must let the supplier know if there are any mobility concerns that they should be aware of.
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
- FOR LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: Any tours booked after 7:00PM Arizona time the night before the tour date might not be confirmed. You will likely have to meet at another hotel for pick up. Our office will contact you prior to 6:00am on the tour date.

We had an absolutely fantastic day on this Grand Canyon and Sedona tour, thanks largely to our guide, Mark L. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the region's geology, history, and Native American cultures, sharing fascinating facts throughout the drive that made the long journey fly by. His driving skills were exceptional, and he expertly navigated the scenic routes to maximize our time at every stop. Mark also knew all the best photo spots and ensured everyone in our small group felt comfortable and engaged. His professionalism and genuine passion for Arizona made this a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend requesting Mark L. for your tour!
This is a very long tour. 15hrs. Well worth it though.
Spectacular scenery and quite a bit of culture regarding the native Indians.
Great way to see the Grand Canyon from the Phoenix metro area without having a car/worrying about the logistics. Guide was very attentive to us as individuals and as a group. Van could have been better - lacked charging stations and got hot in the sun.
This was hands down one of the best tours we’ve ever experienced, and Mark was a huge reason why. He was absolutely incredible! His passion for his job, for life, and especially for the mountains came through in everything he shared with us. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the entire experience worth every penny.
We were so impressed that I’ve already told several people about this tour. The next time our family visits and we take this trip again, we will personally request Mark. He truly made an already beautiful experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Jordan our tour guide was amazing! Great energy, funny and educational…definitely learned a lot about Arizona in general. Plenty of rest room breaks and food stops. Got to see even more than what was planned! Comfortable ride. Would definitely book again and ask for him!
This was a great trip as far as guide knowledge and sites visited, only concern was the vehicle. We rode in the back seat of a Sprinter van and were bounced around like airplane turbulence. On some of the questionable roads were airborne several times.
If your tour uses these vans, do not ride in the last seat. But well worth the money for the tour.
The best tour ever! 10/10. Our tor guide Jordan was knowledgeable about all things AZ, Grand Canyon and surfing areas! He listened attentively to each visitors needs. We will recommend this tour to everyone we know.
The drive itself was very beautiful! It was lovely to see how diverse Arizona is. We got to stop at many spots and our tour guide, Martin, was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. We had a great time and feel it was well worth the money!
Had a great experience with Mark as our driver and tour guide to the Grand Canyon. I would suggest anyone do this as an experience if they are in the Phoenix area.

Plenty of restrooms breaks!! Very important because our group consisted of a pregnant woman and at least 2 senior citizens

Flight delay Monday night due to sand storm in Phoenix. Airport closed so flight delayed 5 hours. Instead of getting in late Monday we get in Tuesday overnight and miss our 6am pickup. Notified them via the app about flight issue and no response. Got the call stating they were waiting for us for pickup. Explained we handed got there yet to airport closure night before. Of course No refund or exchange but they call twice to try and rebook. Got giving you another $700 bucks we already paid and missed the first trip.

I spoke with you and explained that no refunds/credits are available due to our cancellation policy. It is unfortunate you chose to leave a 5 star review because we were simply honoring our cancellation policy. You emailed us at 9pm the night before, after our office closed. You told us your flight was delayed but did NOT say you wouldn't be doing the tour. Maybe you should consider travel insurance in the future.

Our guide Mark was terrific, sharing lots of info about the environment, history and beautiful areas to see, take pictures of, and just enjoy.
Mark L. was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable and knew all the best spots to go to get the full experience in such a short amount of time. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an amazing day trip- prepare to take lots of pictures of great views
Tour was great but our guide Jordan was the main reason for that. He had some much knowledge of the grand canyon, Arizona, Sedona and indigenous tribes. Our entire group left with an amazing experience, of the most amazing place due to our amazing guide. Thanks Jordan! We will never forget it!
Mark was funny and personable and very sweet and knowledgeable. The views were breathtaking and the band was comfortable.
A really great experience, the Grand Canyon is truly impressive to see, and we had the chance to visit several viewpoints. Great experience overall. Mark was very knowledgeable about the history of the locations we visited. The Grand Canyon did not disappoint! We had a diverse and energetic group which helped to make the experience that much more enjoyable.
The only downside was how uncomfortable the bus ride was. Seems like we felt every bump in the road. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this tour.

What a great tour! Elmar was a wonderful guide. He gave us a lot of information about the area. He knew all the best spots for photos. The ride on the van was very comfortable. He stopped many times for bathroom breaks and snacks. This is a great way to see the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Highly recommend. Thank you, Elmar.
