Pickup is offered from select hotels in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. For small group tours, we do not pick up from private residences and pickup is not guaranteed from all hotels, even if your hotel is on the list. If you choose a hotel as your meeting location, please note that free parking is not guaranteed. To confirm parking availability, contact the tour supplier directly. Their contact information will be provided on your prepaid voucher. Pickup time is between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The supplier will reach out the afternoon before your tour with your exact pickup time. Return time is expected to be between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. For private tours, we do pick up from most hotels and private residences in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. Please be aware that DETOURS is not responsible for late returns due to traffic or other unexpected delays. If you don’t see important emails from the supplier, be sure to check your spam or junk folder. For last-minute bookings made after 7:00 PM (Arizona time) the night before your tour, confirmation is not guaranteed. You may be required to meet at a designated hotel instead. Our office will contact you before 6:00 AM on the morning of your tour.

After morning pickup at select locations in Phoenix, Scottsdale, to Tempe. Relax on your drive through the Sonora Desert, en route to some of the American Southwest's most beautiful highlights.
Your drive brings you through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as you increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As you continue further into northern Arizona, travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, one of the largest contiguous forests of ponderosa pines in the world.
You will pitstop in Sedona, which includes a photo stop at Bell Rock, approximately 30 minutes of free time in Uptown Sedona and the scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon
Your van climbs up to 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) before you reach your first stopping point in Grand Canyon National Park. Expect ample time to explore the features around the deepest and widest part of the canyon, which measures 277 miles (445 km) in length. Visit attractions such as the El Tovar Hote,l and Hopi House in Grand Canyon Village, and have time to shop, go for a walk, grab lunch (own expense), and visit cultural exhibits along the rim.
Your tour ends in the evening upon your return to your starting point in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

- Starting Jan 1st, 2026, the tour supplier is required by law to confirm US or Non-US citizenship which will determine if an additional entry fee is required. For non-US citizens, the tour supplier must collect an additional $100 per person (age 16 or older), payable in advance to the tour supplier.
- Arizona state law requires children under 8 years to have either a child seat or booster. Child seats are not provided, please bring your own and notify supplier
- Minimum age is 3 years and guest must inform supplier they will provide car seats or boosters.
- Wheelchairs and walkers are acceptable as long as they fold up and can be slid into the vehicle. You must let the supplier know if you are bringing either.
- We do not guarantee pickup for all hotels. Even if your hotel is on the list, there may be a chance you'll need to meet at an alternate location. Any guest staying outside of Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe will be required to meet at an alternate location to be determined by supplier. Tour supplier contact details will be provided on your pre-paid voucher.
- The Grand Canyon South Rim is a 7,000 foot elevation, please note this if you have concerns about altitude.
- There is NOT a restroom on the van. Comfort stops are made throughout the day.
- You must let the supplier know if there are any mobility concerns that they should be aware of.
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
- FOR LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS: Any tours booked after 7:00PM Arizona time the night before the tour date might not be confirmed. You will likely have to meet at another hotel for pick up. Our office will contact you prior to 6:00am on the tour date.

I had a wonderful experience! Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts and stories that really brought the tour to life. The canyon itself was absolutely stunning, the views were breathtaking and unlike anything we’ve seen before. The whole tour was well-organized, relaxing, and memorable. Mark L. was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable and knew all the best spots to go to get the full experience in such a short amount of time. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for an amazing day trip- prepare to take lots of pictures of great views

Tour was great but our guide Jordan was the main reason for that. He had some much knowledge of the grand canyon, Arizona, Sedona and indigenous tribes. Our entire group left with an amazing experience, of the most amazing place due to our amazing guide. Thanks Jordan! We will never forget it!

A really great experience, the Grand Canyon is truly impressive to see, and we had the chance to visit several viewpoints. Great experience overall. Mark was very knowledgeable about the history of the locations we visited. The Grand Canyon did not disappoint! We had a diverse and energetic group which helped to make the experience that much more enjoyable.
The only downside was how uncomfortable the bus ride was. Seems like we felt every bump in the road. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this tour.

Mark H was our guide and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of the trip. His personality made everyone feel like friends. He took us to a less crowded but equally beautiful area of the Grand Canyon. It was such a memorable day. This tour should not be missed

What a great tour! Elmar was a wonderful guide. He gave us a lot of information about the area. He knew all the best spots for photos. The ride on the van was very comfortable. Our tour guide, Jay was very knowledgeable. He made the tour extremely worthwhile by engaging all of us in discussing details about ourselves & thus creating a real family atmosphere!! He made sure that appropriate pictures were taken by posing in places of significance.

Door to door service from Phoenix area hotel to Grand Canyon and back in one day. It was actually what we were looking for, and brilliantly delivered. Communication was top-notch, before and during the trip. Jay our driver and tour guide was very courteous, friendly and informative. Amazing tour!! As first time travelers to Arizona, this tour was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to explore the Grand Canyon and Sedona without renting a car. Mark L was a phenomenal tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We were not bored the entire 12 hour trip. It was very organized and made the perfect amount of stops. Would highly recommend this trip to any one of all ages! 11/10 experience!

This tour was great! A long day, but the coach was modern and comfortable, and our tour guide Elmar was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We got a good amount of time to experience the Grand Canyon and Sedona.

Definitely recommended as a great day trip. Due to the distance between Phoenix & the Grand Canyon, this is a long trip sitting - wear comfortable clothes! Good walking shoes are a must as trails down into the canyon are dirt and some rocks to skirt around or go over. Temps are much lower at the canyon, you might need a jacket there. Our driver, Mark, made stops along the way for us to purchase snacks and restroom breaks, although you can bring your own food if you wish. Think about lunch too, as you're on your own for that and prices in the canyon park are higher than you might expect. Mark made sure to have lots of cold water available the entire trip. Our driver was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing as we drove through different geological regions of Arizona, lots of tidbits about the plants, climate and the history of the state and the people who lived there in the past and current folks.

It was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Aldo was a wonderful tour guide, no words enough to describe, his energy, and humor, always taking the energy off the trip up to the sky! I would recommend 200%!! Landscapes to die for, Grand Canyon alone would've been worth it, and plus to that we got to see Sedona at near sundown and so many other things, plus having Aldo with us! Thank so very much for the awesome experience! So worth it!

Absolutely fantastic tour!
Travelling solo and made some great friends on this trip.
Jay was absolutely fabulous. He was considerate, knowledgeable and kind. Gave us a lot of local information and history of the region.
We even had a pop up quiz at the end of the tour - which we aced thanks to the great teacher!
