I was incredibly excited to get to do this escape. I hard problems booking the event because I never received an email saying that I was all set so I had to call and ask because I had already paid. They said they had not had me down but to pay again and if anything went wrong they would refund me which was nice for customer support. The actual experience was not that fun. We were told we were going to have 10 events to do and that it used to be only be 4 so I was excited but it felt like it was only 4 that we completed. Our game advisor that came with us told us how to do every single challenge without letting us figure it out which took away from the entire experience. In the summary of this activity it says that it takes an hour and a half to two hours but it only took me around 45 minutes so it definitely was not worth the money that I paid. We only competed against one other team so that also cut down on the amount of fun this challenge brought. Overall, I wish I wouldn't have spent my money on this event.

I am VERY sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the Escape River Island challenge, as the owner I take great pride in making sure everyone that comes out has a great time and I wish you had mentioned something to me before you left. I am the host for every Escape River Island challenge and created/built all 10 challenges myself. The challenges are: 1. balance board 2. build your stairs 3. water tube 4. find your combo (signs) 5. bean bag toss 6. puzzle 7. skee ball 8. stick building 9. find your combo (animals) 10. paddle battle.
After reading your honest feedback I agree with you that I have not done a good enough job explaining that this activity is less like a traditional escape room and more a combination of Survivor and Amazing Race. I can certainly see how someone that was expecting more of a traditional escape setting would be disappointed. This challenge is more like playing Survivor in an Amazing Race format of teams of 2 competing/racing to complete all the challenges and race back to see who wins. I am sorry that was not made more clear prior to you booking the activity.
The fastest competition time so far this year is 32 minutes and 6 seconds and the average competition time is 55 minutes per team. The total time of the activity is approximately 2 hours factoring in the paddle down to the island which isn't part of the challenge, your personal tour of the island and instruction time.
I invite you to come back and experience one of our other adventures that I hope you would enjoy. Once a month we do a Full Moon Paddle with s'mores and in November we will be starting Survive River Island where 2 tribes of six will be on opposite sides of the island voting each other off every 12 hours over 4 days and 3 nights.
