Greet your guide at Plaza de la Villa and head first to a local market. Hear about the origin of tapas and try some tasty tidbits from the food stalls.
Continue to a tavern that dates back to the 19th century. Sip a glass of wine or an aperitif, complemented by another Spanish specialty. Afterward, stroll through the streets of Madrid. We will stop at the tavern, where you will have a chance to taste a very local liquor that any lover of Madrid knows about. We will have a chance to chat about the city’s history and food culture. We’ll try some of Madrid’s most famous shrimbs together with some Spanish house wine. We will finish our tapas adventure with a local dessert

- How many food stops are included on this tour? We’ll visit five delicious tasting stops, each offering a unique flavor of Madrid—from traditional taverns to bustling market stalls.
- Will the itinerary always be the same? We aim to follow a thoughtfully curated route, but sometimes we may adjust the itinerary based on the opening hours or crowd levels at certain bars and restaurants. Rest assured, any changes made will still reflect the same high standard of quality and authenticity—you won’t miss out!
- How much walking is involved in the tour? This tour covers approximately 1.6 km (1 mile) of walking through Madrid’s vibrant streets. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of stops along the way, but we do recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
- Please note that this tour is designed as a social, sit‑down tapas experience, not a snack‑style crawl.

This was a fun tour. Just three of us plus the guide. Our guide was great. We ate and drank a lot. A lot of good food plus we learned about other places to go.

Fatima is a star! She shepherded us thru crowds to find great tapas and learn about local cuisine. She catered to any request and made this tour a wonderful experience!
We tried different tapas and drinks in 5 bars and couldn’t eat another bite when we were done!
It was great to sample excellent food without having to negotiate through the crowds on our own. Highly recommend this adventure!

We had an amazing tour with Patricia. She was a fabulous guide, a lot of fun, very informative and did such a great job of choosing venues. We went to 5 different locations and when asked to pick a favorite the four of us all chose a different spot - that speaks to how great it all was. This is a fantastic tour and we would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We did this tour on our first night in Madrid, and our tour guide, Aafke, was exceptional! She had a passion for the local culture and made many great suggestions for things we could do in Madrid during our stay. The tapas and drinks were excellent. This was the perfect way to explore downtown Madrid!

Lilian was an absolute star as a guide. I was extremely jet lagged and the only one on the tour. She made sure we went at my own pace and she also made sure that the food we selected was to my tastes. You can tell that she loves what she does and the people in the restaurants and bars love her as well. She also found some hidden gems that only the locals know about. This tour was great to get my bearings and understand what sorts of food Madrid has to offer.

Overall an outstanding experience. Our guide Mart had an intimate knowledge of both the food scene of the area and Madrid’s history and culture. His relationship with the tapas bar owners is clearly well established and saw friendly and efficient service at all stops. Mart is also very personable and easy to get on with.

The meeting location was not clear at all, provided a very general location (plaza name only) with no street address. Our uber driver took us to the wrong location because there were multiple Plaza de Villa Calles. Once we realized we were in the wrong location we couldn't make the tour as we were about 25 minutes away. Plus we had problems finding an uber to accommodate 5 people. The tour should have provided a specific locale with street address that was very clear. Very dissatisfied.

We never took the trip We went to the wrong location. We had asked our hotel front desk twice about the drop off point, spoke with Uber driber and the pleople at the place we were dropped off All said we had right location. We were there 30 min early. The meeting place was not specific especially for people. The location providrd did not jane a street address and we did not know there were multiple locations. We ended up to far away to take the tour. I will be asking for a refund.

Jose from Toledo was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and passionate about the history, explaining along the way while providing great tapas and drinks! When asked random questions about the history he showed a varied and discret knowledge only a real local would know. I would 19 our of 10 recommend him as a tour guide and this tour as a crash course of madrid

We learned a lot about tapas snd local food; we tried some signature dishes as well as local wines and other drinks. Our host, Carolina from Urban Adventures, added some fascinating local history and gave us some solid tips on where to eat, what to drink and where the locals go. Our host was awesome! Informative, enthusiastic, and fun. But the food was just awful.I have been on many of these tours in different cities and they have all been great across the board with wonderful food but this was, well, an unfortunate exception. Olives that I couldn't wait to get rid of, mushy, tasteless croquettes, and calamari sandwiches that were bland and just icky.

My husband and I took this tour a few nights ago. It was our first night in Madrid, and we loved the tour. Our tour guide Daniella was excellent! In addition to teaching us about the local tapas and drinks, she showed us a lot of interesting and off the beaten path places and told us lots of interesting info about Madrid. There was more food and drink on the tour than you could possibly eat or drink. No one on our tour could finish it all. I highly recommend that you do this tour.

Definitely do this tour one of your first evenings in Madrid! You'll learn so much, find the best spots to eat and where not to eat and learn all the local tapas and drinks. Our tour guide, Daniela 'Nicole!' lol was very knowledgable, funny and a great tour guide. She knew the city well, took time to get to know each of us and did an overall great job. Thanks Daniela!

The tour was awesome. The tapas were crazy good. My 10 year old boy loved it too. The chocolate place we went to we believe was featured in Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix which was awesome!!! Even if you don't drink alcohol, you will still enjoy the delicious tapas. I am leaving this review of my own free will because I feel as though this tour was exceptional. A truly authentic tapas experience!!!

We shared a wonderful evening sampling tapas and drink at a variety of locations with Andrea our guide of Urban Adventure. Only my husband and I were on this particular tour so we felt as if we were sharing the evening with a friend. We had no trouble rescheduling our tour because we were delayed arriving in Madrid. We highly recommend the tour. Thank you Urban Adventure for making our first night in Madrid extra special.

Our guide, Cecelia, was fantastic.
Her knowledge of the foods, wines and history of Spain were vast. We went to San Miguel market for amazing wines, olives and cheeses and terrific tapas bars and learned much about the history and regional aspects of Spain. Truely an excellent tour. Thanks Cecelia!

So much amazing food! This was a very well organized tour of food, wine and history. It included a lot of less well known food items in interesting restaurants -- you won't be hungry at the end
And we even got a customized email from Cecilia with a full description of what we ate, drank and saw and ideas for what else to do in Madrid and our other travels!
And despite the short notice we booked just a couple hours ahead she was able to customize the food options for my gluten allergy!

I LOVE doing walking food tours in new cities: small group size I don't like being herded around in large tour groups, get to try all the must-eats, and you get to see and learn about the city. This one was no exception and was fantastic! Our tour guide, Andrea, grew up in Madrid and new a lot of history about the city. We were able to visit some secret spots and try some food where the locals ate. In addition, she was very friendly and we made an impromptu stop to sing along with some musical fireman very fun!. All of the food was delicious and there was plenty. Do NOT eat before going on the food tour!!! You receive a good portion of food from appetizers to main course to dessert to drinks. Highly recommend
