One of the three cultures' cities eventually became Greco's hometown; the city of Europe's most recent Gothic Cathedral is one of a kind and well worth a visit. This is the plan: we will go inside the Cathedral; St. Tomé; St. María la Blanca and St. Juan de los Reyes and, between this monuments, our guide will provide a walking tour about the city itself. However, the greatest question is: what kind of visit? We are in 2023; to fight mass tourism, our groups have only 10 people. Javi was amazing! He reached out the day before and since we were coming from Madrid, we had a plan to meet up at the train station in Toledo to start our tour. Unfortunatley, we missed out train. Javi turned what was a hectic morning into a beautiful day. Instead, we met him in town where he greeted us with a smile and warmth. Offering us just what we needed...coffee. It was just the 4 of us in our tour. As a local from generations of educators and tour guides, Javi is the guy you want touring you through Toledo. Our tour was focused on Jewish Heritage and Javi brought a wealth of knowledge and unique perspective to the history of the Jewish people in Toledo. He literally has the keys to the city! Beautiful Toledo with the best tour guide experience.

Javier is the best tour guide experience we have ever had. When I booked the tour a month in advance, I received an email with helpful advice, exactly what train to book from from Madrid to Toledo and recommendation where to have a meal after after the tour, as it can book up especially during high season. Javier met us as planned and drove us, circumventing Toledo so that we could take in this beautiful town from a distance. Then the walking tour started inside this ancient town where we were showed around all the landmarks and must sees, for 3 hours. Javier had an iPad so he could show us old renderings and more easily explain the meaning of all the El Greco paintings and the paintings in the cathedral etc. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and easy to communicate with before and during the tour. We learned so much. I highly recommend this tour.

A tour of Toledo is a MUST, especially since it is accessible in 30 minutes via high speed train from Madrid. But Toledo in June is not for the faint of heart. With its cobblestone streets, uphill climbs, and direct sun and extreme summer heat, you must take precautions by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. Water is essential. Our experience with Noelia was extensive but just the right pace. Noelia provided us with historical, cultural, and religious context as we traversed the beautiful streets of Toledo. Her calm, friendly, and humorous nature was a breath of fresh air. In addition to the sites on the itinerary, Noelia gave us additional tips to continue our journey on our own.
