Itinerary

Take a sightseeing overview tour of Madrid during this exploration of the city to get a sense of the many centuries of history, landmarks, culture and architecture that give this unique Spanish capital its distinct charm.

Start your discovery of the city by meeting up with your guide in central Madrid. Head first to the Barrio de la Morería, where you'll get a sense for the city's ancient foundations that date back to the medieval era. Hear about the Royal Alcazar of Madrid, a historic Arabic fortress that once occupied the area, and admire the elegant design of the city's Royal Palace, located nearby. Continue next to Madrid Rio, where you'll pass across the picturesque bridges, Puente del Rey and Puente de Segovia.

Proceed by bus next to the Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa, two iconic city plazas that exemplify the baroque and renaissance styles favored by Spanish monarch King Philip II in the 16th century. Move on to Cybele's Fountain (Fuente de la Cibeles), arguably one of Madrid's most famous sights, along with the elegant neoclassical beauty of the Alcalá Gate (Puerta de Alcalá).

Drive next along Madrid's broad Gran Vía avenue, along with its Paseo de la Castellana towards Barrio Salamanca, where you'll have a chance to explore a more modern version of the Madrid cityscape. Then drive past the city's renowned Santiago Bernabéu Stadium (home of Real Madrid,) Spain's National Library, and the famous Las Ventas bullring, ground zero for Spain's bullfighting tradition.

Finish your excursion at Plaza de Oriente, where your tour concludes.

Good introduction to Madrid

Marisa_J, Sep 2023
The bus tour gave a good overview to the layout of the city and the main landmarks. The guide was very informative.

the palace was too good worth a visit, in spite of missing our bus the lady in office helped us in getting to another stop which i really appreciate it and we started from next stop

Michael_H, Apr 2017
If you want quick overview of Madrid in less than 3 hours this will do, but just had a feeling we were missing some key sights. Tour guide was good'' but the English speakers seemed to get the short end of the conversations several times.

Modesto R, Dec 2016
We arrived thirty minutes late for this tour. The Travel agency arranged for us to join the tour as the bus was proceeding slowly through Madrid's holiday traffic at 345pm Sunday. We met the bus about 10 minutes walk from the our original meeting place and as the group was just coming back from a trip to the Mercado de San Miguel. The travel guide was good and was providing the tour in Spanish and in English. We made two fifteen minute stops at the Columbus plaza and at the Bullfight stadium for pictures if you wanted to do so. She would point out the Prado, and the other significant buildings. She pointed out the reason for the Sunday traffic, being the beginning of the long holiday season for the locals beginning with the Feast of the Immaculate COnception and then Christmas. It was early December and the day is short and by 5:00 one can hardly see the buildings but we stayed in the street longer until they turned the Holidays lights on in the streets and in the Plazas. The bus was luxurious and well appointed. Maybe the experience would have been different if we had come earlier to start the tour at the Royal Palace. We should have joined the 11 am tour. Traffic would have been less and we would have had better views.

SusanM_S, Dec 2016
Disappointed with Julia's Travel guide on this afternoon tour. Although it was a rainy Friday afternoon, and we saw everything as indicated on the tour, she made no effort to make our group's experience a positive one. We were dropped off to fend of ourselves during a 15 minute break to find a coffee and washroom and then when we all returned punctually at the bus, the driver and our guide were no were to be found. Fortunately, we had a fabulous guide from Julia's Travel on another tour the next day!

Christopher C, Oct 2016
In this tour, you will probably be traveling with other groups. You may feel it to be disjointed, especially if it's being given in 3 languages simultaneously. But overall, you will learn interesting facts about the current state of Madrid. Do not let your children sleep on the bus. Yes, someone tried. Always wear your seatbelt. And do not walk around the bus while it's in motion. Yes, someone also tried that. Such is the law. If the police see it, they will not fine the bus driver, tour guide or tour company. Only you get to pay a fine of 200 Euros. Not optional. Do try to adult.

We expected the tour guide could talk more about the city instead of just the names of the places.

Peter R, Feb 2016
You need to update your website as the joining instructions on the voucher were unclear and the website says:- Start your discovery of the city by choosing to depart at either 9am or 3pm, then meet up with your guide at the Plaza de España in central Madrid to board your bus and start your excursion The bus now goes from the underground carpark at the Royal Palace. We ended up missing the 9am tour as we were at the wrong place and had to re-book for the 3pm tour.

Sylvie L, Aug 2015
In general it's a good tour, especially because of the guide. However, the stop at the end is totally useless and a waste of time. People who really wants to go at the Hard Rock Cafe can go on their own, it should not be part of the tour.

This was ok. I thought it would be an open bus. We did a couple of stops. I don't think I'd do this particular tour again. I liked the hop on/off tour better.

Jane M K, Apr 2015
Tried to reschedule after airline mechanical problems resulted in a 12 hour delay. Called US Viator to notify about problem. Told to call vendor on arrival. Vendor said, Talk to Viator then hung up. Viator International had us on hold for 5 minutes and then disconnected, TWICE. We ended up using a Hop-on-Hop-off bus tour instead.

As I only had 1 day of free time I did this tour and I was glad it was short and sweet and I got to see the city in a short amount of time. I recommend this for the business traveler who has limited time for site seeing

We went on the 9:00 am tour on July...

macdona, Aug 2014
We went on the 9:00 am tour on July 28, 2014. The tour guide, a middle aged woman with short dark hair and glasses was the rudest person I think I have ever encountered in my life. She was abrupt with guests and very brusque and irritated throughout the tour. She yelled at the driver and make an extremely rude comment about him over the PA system on the bus. The driver remained calm and professional throughout his ordeal with this woman. She made me feel unsafe as she yelled at the driver to go, go, go in Spanish and if a vehicle got in front of the bus and the driver had to slow down, she would slap the partition in front of her and yell something in Spanish. Back at the office, I spoke with a young man who seemed to know exactly what I was talking about with regard to this tour guide. However, when I asked to speak with a manager, a very nonchalant woman came over and had me fill in a form with my complaint about this guide and then told me I had to take the form to a government office downtown. I said this was not good enough and I wanted to know what the tour operator was going to do about my complaint. She said they would wait until they heard from the government office. We loved Madrid but this experience has created a less than savoury memory of our time there and this tour did not live up to all of the other experiences we have enjoyed over the years dealing with Viator. If this had been our only encounter with Viator, we would not use Viator again. We had come to depend on Viator for excellence.

Luigi G, Jul 2014
Our tour guide was awful and it made the whole tour disappointing. We were rushed throughout and she continually scolded the bus drive. The bus driver (Fernan) was amazing. We complained at the local office.

Sakura G, Jun 2014
The guide was great but too much time was spent on the motorway. I understand that the streets in Madrid itself are very narrow so it's hard for the tour bus to get through but a bit more time around the centre of town would have been nice. Also, perhaps changing having a drink at the Hard Rock Cafe to a more local place would go down better with European/American tourists.

Doreen I, Jun 2014
4 star because tour guide was informative with information about sights and places. Downside was refreshment at Hard Rock, not relevant to Spanish theme.

Paul C, Feb 2014
Loved the tour we saw so much of Madrid which would of been impossible in the two days that we were there, wasn't too keen on the tour guide she wasn't very friendly but we wasn't there for her, Madrid spoke for itself beautiful, enchanting, clean and magical will definetly return one day!!!

Waste of time to stop at Hard Rock Cafe. Tour seemed to be shortened as people could not stick to allotted free time.
