A very informative van ride through Amish country to our destination, which was a lovely lAmish home, where our host provided us with a wonderful give meal, which we thoroughly enjoyed. After the meal, we were free to look around the outside of the property, which was beautiful. A wonderful experience!

Was a great experience! Moses was a great guide with excellent information and insight. He lives in the area and thus has good knowledge and feel for the area and people. Lunch with Mary, her mother and daughter was terrific. The food was excellent and home cooked. Mary and her mom were great to talk to. Arlene was just as cute as she could be. She took us out to feed the goats, see the horse, chickens and the deer. Thanks to Mary for sharing her home and family. Glad we chose this tour!

Beverly_F, Sep 2025
The meal was wonderful and the family was great. They were welcoming and informative. They freely answered questions and did not react to us showing us quite earlier than expected as one might. We were terribly rude to do so however and out guide was without excuse and was something rude in the way she buried them along. She also could use a great deal more training about the Amish of she is going to try to teach others.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
We have long-running relationships with our Amish hosts and we do sometimes arrive slightly early or slightly later. I can assure you they neither view it as rude nor offensive. Your comments about your guide are completely out of line with her years of work with us, her knowledge of the Amish, and her temperament. I don't usually push back, but I feel I have to in this case.
Nicole_B, Sep 2025
We enjoyed our driver. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The Amish couple we visited was extremely friendly and welcoming. But this Amish tour was WAY too expensive for what we experienced! The website described this tour as a meal and a farm experience. We did get a delicious meal but not a lot of food options, especially if you have picky kids. And no farm experience really. This was not a true operating farm. Our whole group felt like it was just way too expensive for what we experienced.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
First let me say that I am sorry you felt the experience was too expensive. We are never pleased to hear we did not meet our guests expectations. I can understand that you would be disappointed if you were thinking you were going to a farm and we did not. However, neither the description on our website, nor the description on this site where you booked say in any way that we will be going to a farm. We do sometimes go to farms depending on the host, but fewer than half of the Amish live on farms and our roster of hosts reflects that breakdown.
Please accept our apology for not meeting your expectations. I will be reaching out to you directly.

Our tour guide, Dale, a local high school history teacher, picked us up in a nice sprinter van at the Lancaster County Welcome Center. We drove a half hour to Strausburg through the country side. As we drove along, Dave taught a class on the Amish starting with their origination as Mennonites. Along the way through the county, he talked about the area and the people. It was interesting to learn the structure of the church districts and how each one can differ to certain degrees from another. Dale was filled with facts and figures and given that we had a small group was able to answer all our questions. We ended our drive at the home of an older Amish couple with grown children. We were invited into the community room (a large open space with a kitchen sink, stove, oven, fridge, counter along one wall) by Susie, the wife. On the lunch table was home made fresh bread, butter, strawberry jam, pickled beets and cucumbers and chaw chaw. We sat and ate with our group while Susie made the food and served us, starting with some sweet tea. Dale continued to help us understand about the Amish way of life. We ate meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, string beans and shoe fly pie with vanilla ice cream. All homemade and delicious (should have skipped breakfast) with plenty to eat. Susie was so nice and helpful and was happy to help Dan with any questions he could not answer or needed some clarification. After lunch we toured the barn/garage and see the buggies and horses up close. After an hour at Susie’s home, we were back in the van and Dale continued our Amish class for the half hour ride back to the welcome center (don't miss Sticky’s Sticky Bun in a trailer next to the welcome center). All in all well worth the time and money with a tasty and healthy meal to boot ! Fully recommend !

The van ride was OK. That part of the tour was OK. The meal in an Amish house was fantastic. Overall, a bit too pricey.

What an amazing experience! Fabulous local tour company—with INCREDIBLE tour guide David (he’s a local high school history teacher so he was FULL of fantastic information!) show us through Lancaster County on our way to a DELICIOUS lunch served by an Amish woman and her daughter on their farm. It’s a working dairy farm so I had a tour of that afterwards. The food was fantastic and the Amish family was delightful. We got to ask as many questions as we wanted to, and the Amish mom even played her harmonica for us at the end! It was a wonderful day to learn more about Amish culture. I absolutely recommend this if you’d like to meet an Amish family while you’re in Lancaster. The tour was only 2 to 2 1/2 hours, so it’s not a huge time commitment!
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thanks so much for a fantastic and comprehensive review! We appreciate you sharing so much of what made the experience enjoyable and enriching for you.
Tony_C, Sep 2025
I love the intro to this culture experience. It gave me more appreciation of the rich Amish culture. We had a close look of a typical Amish family and understanding their wedding preparations and support of community. It was a eye opening tour.
