Meet your guide in downtown Charlotte for a thorough overview of how to operate the Segway. Once your group is comfortable with the Segway controls, you'll make your way through the lively Uptown district. There are plenty of opportunities for photos on this informative tour -- best to pull out that camera only when your Segway has come to rest!
Option 1: 1.5-hour Segway tour
Start your tour by making your way to the Levine Avenue of the Arts to stop at the Bechtler Museum, a relatively new attraction in Charlotte that showcases the Bechtler family’s impressive collection of modern art. Admire the imposing 17-foot (5-meter) outdoor sculpture “The Firebird," covered in shimmering mosaic tiles.
On the other side of this avenue is the Mint Museum, the oldest art museum in Charlotte, and the Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture, home to exhibitions and performances. Glide into The Green, an urban park lined with sculptures that celebrate great literature. Then make your way over to the center of Charlotte at Trade and Tryon streets. Your tour ends with a visit to the Fourth Ward, a pretty area known for its historic Victorian homes.
Option 2: 2-hour Segway tour
If you'd like to cover a bit more ground by Segway, opt for a longer tour where you'll hit all of the sights above, as well as the Old Settlers’ Cemetery dating back to 1776. Your guide will share the names of some of the prominent citizens who have been laid to rest at this historic burial site, as well as at your next stop, the Elmwood/Pinewood Cemetery. Return to modern times with a visit to the Carolina Panthers' football stadium.

We had a great tour of Charlotte with Isaiah! Learned a lot of history about Charlotte and riding Segway's was a blast. I highly recommend this tour to see and learn about Charlotte.

James was an excellent tour guide. He gave us a brief overview of the Segways (we all had previous experience riding them) and we went on our tour. We passed so many cool sites and James gave us a history lesson on them. I highly recommend this tour for a fun and informative trip while in Charlotte.

If you select James as your guide, you’re getting one of the best. James made absolutely sure that I was safe at all times. I was so impressed with his knowledge of the area. Very up beat fun guy to hang out with.

We took James’s Segway tour to get our bearings on the area since we’re relocating here, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! James was incredibly charismatic and shared a wealth of information about the city’s history, neighborhoods, and local gems. His enthusiasm made the tour both fun and memorable, and his passion for Charlotte truly shines through.
Even our three teenagers loved it — which says a lot! It was the perfect mix of adventure, learning, and laughter. An excellent representation of the city, and a fantastic way for families to explore together. Highly recommend!

My experience was great. My tour guide did an excellent explaining all about the history of Charlotte.
Tracie_Y, Sep 2025
James was really fun and patient with us on the Segways. We've never ridden them before and took his time with us. The tour and history we learned along the way was fun. He was knowledgeable and made the whole tour enjoyable. We would definitely do that again. Thanks James!

It was an excellent tour. David, the tour guide, was knowledgeable and fun. Entire staff was wonderful.
David_S, Jul 2025
Very fun, informative & historic. Even though it was on the sidewalk inches from the city streets, still felt safe. Our guide (David) kept us safe. The office is a bit difficult to find & parking was expensive. All in all, we’d do it again.
Not at all interested in any haunted tours.

Fun to see so much of the city. Segways are a blast to ride and simple to operate. James was a ton of fun.
Irene_T, Apr 2025
Fun fun fun. The best way to tour the city under your own control. The Segway is easy to learn, we've been on Segway tour in different cities and it is a great experience and is safe.

The staff made us feel comfortable on segways. Wells was fun and provided an excellent tour of the lovely city

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Our tour guide Rod was amazing. He's been doing this for years and it shows. He offers all kinds of insights into the city of Charlotte. He keeps it fun and entertaining while providing interesting background of the city. One "heads up" for future users, our tour started at 1:00 PM on a gorgeous weather day. That means tons of workers are out and about during lunch time in the Uptown area. This didn't diminish our tour at all, it just made us focus on traveling within the busy sections of the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it.

James took us on a very informative tour around all 4 wards of uptown Charlotte. Excellent tour 10/10!
Bernard_D, Nov 2024
Rod was great. We were first time riders and he was very patient with us. Awesome way to see uptown Charlotte. He also gave us some Restaurant recommendations in the area that were spot on. Amelies bakery is a must for those with a sweet tooth 😊
Michele_P, Oct 2024
James was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. He also customize our tour since we were the only two on it. We had done a ghost tour the night before so he gave us a lot of other history of the area and pointed out the four wards which we proceeded to explore on our segues. The guide or interpreter really makes the experience and James was top notch.

My sister and nephew were visiting and they really wanted to see what Charlotte was all about. We had just recently moved here so we knew very little about Charlotte history much less how to see anything. Fortunately, Charlotte NC Tours popped up on my Google search. We were all a little reluctant to ride Segway’s because none of us had ever ridden on before. Fast forward and it was of the best activities my family had ever done. Rod, our instructor was amazing and assured us that we would be able to ride these things. He was right. After taking his time to train each of us on how to ride safely we were on our way for an amazing experience around the city. After multiple stops and great story telling none of us wanted it to end. We are already planning our Holiday Lights Tour. Thanks again to Rod and Charlotte NC Tours!

James was an absolute delight. His knowledge about Charlotte 's history was phenomenal. His personality wonderful. If we ever return to Charlotte, we will definitely do this again. Your company is lucky to have such a valuable employee in James. He's a keeper.

My guide, Rod, made it easy to learn how to ride a Segway - my first time and it was a blast! Rod was very knowledgeable and engaging, describing the city and its historical landmarks. The tour was well laid out and provided a fun and efficient way to see the city. I learned many interesting things about Charlotte which is exactly what I was looking for — highly recommend!

Seeing Charlotte uptown on a Segway was up and personal. Loved it would do the Christmas tour as well
Dean_C, Aug 2024
This was one of the most informative, entertaining, and fun tours we’ve ever taken. Isaiah was everything you’d want in a tour guide: knowledgeable, engaging, funny, and just a downright good human. If you’re going to book this tour, request Isaiah!
Sung_M, Aug 2024
Isaiah gave us a great tour of Charlotte explaining the history of the city as we traveled sidewalks, streets, and parks throughout the city. We enjoyed it.
Linda_A, Jul 2024
It was a great lesson in the history in the making of the current city of Charlotte. The guide Isaiah was engaging, very knowledgeable and friendly! We felt like we were getting a private tour since it was just myself and my husband.
Cynthia_A, Jul 2024
I just wanted to say thank Rod for an amazing tour. We had such a great time and really appreciated all the effort you put into making sure we were comfortable on the Segway. Your knowledge of Charlotte's history was so impressive and made the tour even more enjoyable. Can't wait to do it again soon!

Rod was an amazing tour guide.
His knowledge was great!
He took us to see some wonderful historic sights and his stories were very entertaining.
Jane_S, Jul 2024
This tour was fabulous and Ron was a superior tour guide. To begin, Ron gave us a 45 minute lesson on how to safely ride a Segway. Our group caught on quickly- except for me. I almost backed out! Ron was so patient and kind. He actually pulled my Segway behind his for the first 20- 30 minutes until I felt confident. This enabled our group to go forward and not have me drag them down.
The tour was 90 minutes- perfect amount of time. I strongly recommend this activity.
Erin_H, Jul 2024
James was a great guide! I’ve been to Charlotte before, but the tour showed me areas I’ve never seen before and I learned a lot about the different Wards in the city. Segways are fun and a great way to see the city.
Valerie_L, Jun 2024
We chose to go Sunday morning. I enjoyed that the city was not crowded, giving plenty of room to ride with ease.
Our guide was knowledge and kept things interesting.
