I’ve taken this tour (or similar) 3 times in the past 5 years, during previous trips to Atlanta. I consider it a “must do” experience whenever I’m traveling with friends who have an interest in history and/or civil rights. Tuesday’s tour with Jessica was particularly good. She is an EXCELLENT tour guide, and really brought the stories to life. 5 stars for sure!

Walking through Sweet Auburn Historic District on the Martin Luther King Jr. Sweet Auburn Walk is good for the soul. You’re stepping into the early world of Martin Luther King Jr. and the values that shaped him.

This was an enjoyable 2-hour walk through the neighborhood of MLK including his birth home (just the outside), his church (just the outside) and his tomb. Paris was knowledgeable and super nice!

This MLK Walking Tour with Kristen was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip! From start to finish, she was engaging, knowledgeable, and such a great storyteller. She made the history feel so real, personal, and powerful.
We loved seeing the exterior of Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and the King Center, but honestly my favorite part was walking through the neighborhood and seeing the historic homes of Civil Rights leaders. That really gave the tour a deeper, more personal feel and helped bring the history to life in such a meaningful way.
Kristen shared so many immersive and entertaining stories about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other Civil Rights leaders, and you could tell she is truly passionate about the history and the city.
If you’re visiting Atlanta, I highly recommend booking this tour. It was informative, moving, and incredibly well done. A true 5-star experience!

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly period but as far as the things that he says the tour we could have ended at the Ebenezer church to make that indoor tour on our own. Our group believed that it was over priced, but even if it stayed that price, why not a little trinket, or something, or a free coffee. We absolutely loved our Guide.

It’s a great experience I wish they had a lunch break and or a ride around tour. Other than it being a lot of walking it was very informative the guide knew exactly what she was doing and where she was going

This MLK walking tour is something I’ve been wanting to do ever since I moved to Atlanta earlier this year and it didn’t disappoint! Joy was a phenomenal guide. So knowledgeable but also conversational and easygoing and fun. I loved all the personal touches she shared about ML and Coretta and the King family.
Seeing his childhood home and birthplace, his final resting place with Coretta, the famous Ebenezer Baptist Church where he and his father preached, his Nobel peace prize, his suitcase and clothing from his final day, it was all overwhelming and very moving. I also loved how Joy played excerpts from MLK’s speeches at key points along the way so we could hear his voice as we saw these meaningful sights.
Loved learning about his mentors too, Coretta’s influence, and seeing and feeling how so many things came together in his family and in the nation for him to play the role that he did. A very special tour and we deeply enjoyed it. There were a lot of laughs too. So important that we remember this man and this movement and I am grateful for this tour.
