This tour includes two hours on the water following the whales, and a quick 15 minute peek at the Mendenhall Glacier. It is just enough time to step off the bus, take a quick picture, and then head back downtown for the rest of your Alaska adventure! This tour is recommended for those who want to see the glacier, but don't want to spend too much time exploring the surrounding recreation area. On this tour, you will take one of the tour buses from downtown Juneau on a 20-minute, narrated tour through Juneau and Mendenhall Valley to Auke Bay. In Auke Bay you will board one of the boats and head out on a 2-hour whale watching experience. Upon returning to the harbor you will be escorted back to the bus for a quick trip inland to Mendenhall Glacier. You will have 15 minutes to get out and take a quick picture, and then get back on the bus for your next adventure in Juneau.

It was an amazing...

It was an amazing experience! The captain and his crew were very knowledge of the area and the whales. We saw multiple whales, both solitary and in groups “bubble feeding”! We also saw a very rare sight, a whale breaching! It was incredible. We would absolutely recommend this tour when you are visiting Juneau!

Easy to find, friendly...

Easy to find, friendly crew, knowledgeable. Know that there is no guarantee that you will see whales. We did because the ship captains were speaking to one another and we were in the right position on the boat, but some did not based on their boat location.

Captain TJ and Andrew were the best guides! I loved that it was a small group which allowed everyone an opportunity to see the whales, it made for more of a personal experience. The inside of the boat was heated which was wonderful because it does get chilly outside. Their energy and knowledge made it an unforgettable experience. We took the chance and booked outside the cruise line and did not regret it.

Well worth the 8:20 am start.

Captain Mac and crew members Hannah and Meredith were wonderful to sail with. Each of them were as excited as spotting wildlife as they would be if it was their very first time. The captain was great about keeping an eye out and also carefully steering the boat to keep the humpbacks and orcas in easy view. I have NEVER been on a wildlife cruise where I have seen so many whales of any kind. It was utterly amazing! Hint: take the EARLY cruise. We were originally scheduled for a 10:20, which didn't have enough people on it. Therefore we were switched to the 8:20 cruise and it definitely paid off in wildlife viewing.

Definitely go on this excursion!

We LOVED this trip. The speed boat is fun and makes it very easy to get close to the whales. You really have a lot of time on the bay to the whales watch and they do a great job finding them and making sure we can see them. Libby was our naturalist and she was great - very informative and she made it fun. She really knew her stuff. The trip to Mendenhall was good, too! Highly recommend. It was the perfect amount of time to be able to have a little time in Juneau after the adventure.
