Itinerary

Following your arrival, transfer to the boarding zone for the short shuttle ride that takes you to the submarine dive zone. Arrive at the submarine for your underwater experience. This submarine-style glass-bottom boat offers crystal-clear views of Oahu's underwater activity.

Peer through the boat's panoramic windows at clusters of bright coral and schools of tropical fish. Listen as your guide details the animals and plants that thrive in this spectacular marine environment. View sea turtles, Hawaiian tropical fish, and living coral on this family-friendly underwater journey.

We did this as a family (Older and kiddos) to celebrate my 50th birthday and had a great time! The staff were absolutely wonderful, fun, friendly, knowledgable. The sub was spacious - more so than expected. We had a great time and I would definetly recommend this to everyone.

Absolutely amazing and well worth the money. We’ve been to Oahu several times and have done many excursions, but this one tops the charts by far. The history and educational commentary from the guides is so informative. Plus all of the awesome sea life you don’t get to experience on the surface of the water! Do yourself a favor and book this tour!

Disappointing submarine ride

Other travelers should know at the shipwrecks are not real they’re planted and the plane don’t be fooled by it. It kind of ruined the experience when they mention that they sunk the boat to make a reef for the fish and if you’re planning on getting pictures, they don’t come out very well pretty much not at all. It was cool to go into submarine but other than that, I don’t feel it was worth the money.

Great short trip for the entire family

Super easy process - check in at the kiosk, walk to the shuttle boat, then transfer from the boat to the submarine. We got to see both artificial and natural reefs with a lot of different tropical fish. The guide in the submarine was very knowledgeable. An extra plus was we saw two huge sea turtles! We didn’t even see those on our “turtle snorkeling tour”. It was a great short trip for the entire family.

Freakin’ Awesome

Freakin’ awesome. Very unique, very fun. We hit 136’ depth which as they said on board, only 1% of the population will ever do. There’s a shipwreck and some reef to explore, you’ll see plenty of cool fish, and the captain makes sure both sides on the sub see everything. There’s a two minute walk from the parking lot to the ferry that takes you to the sub. You literally walk onto the sub from the ferry and then it’s just 10 steps down (like a long stepladder) - very easy to board. Highly recommended.

Captain Nemo rides again!

Great 2hr excursion that takes you exploring the sea life that is about 110 ft below the surface. Crew members are knowledgeable, friendly, and humorous. The boat ride out to the submarine is approximately 15-20 minutes each way. The sub ride below the surface is approximately 1hr. We saw both the natural reef as well as the man-made reefs, that the submarine company helped build & maintain. We found the guide’s info very interesting & informative. We saw an abundance of sea life. Seen sharks, turtles, starfish, sting-rays, and multiple species of fishes. Would definitely recommend this tour and hope to one day do it again. Phillip & Sara W.

You don't see anything real interesting. We saw some fish and a few turtles. They're wasn't much color to behold. It definitely wasn't worth the price. However, the guide was great! He had a wonderful personality and was very humorous.

It is true, at depths past 50 feet, a phenomenon called "color absorption" occurs. This means that fish and coral that would have bright colors near the surface take on a more dull hue, and often everything will appear blue. However, this is just a perk of getting to see the ocean at depths you wouldn't normally get to experience. It’s a good experience, but does not justify the price you pay. The submarines goes down to a depth of 100ft which is great, but the artificial car and the lack of variety of fish leaves a lot to desire for.

We are sorry to hear that your recent adventure was less exciting than you had hoped, but are glad that you enjoyed the experience of traveling to the bottom of the sea in a submarine. Unfortunately, Waikiki has very sparse natural reef environments, and over the past 100 years, the natural reef has been disappearing. In collaboration with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant Program, Atlantis has created many expansive artificial reef environments that have helped reef and marine life flourish. We hope that with a little time and care, our natural reefs will continue to grow. The ocean is often quite unpredictable, and sightings of underwater life vary from hour to hour.
