End point
This activity ends back at the meeting point. What To Expect
Your Oahu shark dive begins at Haleiwa boat harbor on the island’s famous North Shore, where you motor out to the open ocean offshore. While cruising out to the shark diving area, there’s a chance you could see dolphins, sea turtles, surfers or even humpback whales in winter, and the view looking back at Oahu’s shoreline is worth the trip in itself.
Since safety is one of the top priorities for the Oahu shark diving crew, receive a briefing on safe practices and how to act in the cage. Then, when it’s time to finally go looking for sharks, strap on your masks, step in the cage, and your shark watching adventure begins when you’re lowered in the water.
Out here in the open ocean away from the runoff and waves, visibility can often extend to as much as 200 feet (60m). When you first catch sight of a graceful shark swimming slowly but purposefully towards you, there’s a sudden and potent rush of adrenaline you simply can’t contain. Before you can even be scared, however, the sharks have swum to within inches of the cage and are circling in front of your face.
In the waters around Oahu, the most commonly sighted sharks you might find are Galapagos, Hammerhead, and Sandbar sharks, which range from 5-15 feet (1.5-4.5m) dependent upon their age. For travelers wanting to dive as a group, the cage can comfortably hold two adult divers and up to eight at a time—though it depends on current weather conditions and the amount of movement in the water.
And, if you simply don’t want to dive in the cage but are hoping to see some sharks, there’s still plenty of thrilling action you can experience while viewing from the deck of the boat.
Money-back guarantee that you see sharks!

This experience was amazing! My sister and law and I loved the boat ride and were blown away by the sharks. They came very close to the cage but were never aggressive. The water was warm and clear and the crew was very positive and kind in their instruction. Would absolutely do this experience again!

It was amazing, the sharks (6) that we saw was so unbelievable. A true once in a lifetime adventure.
Nicole_R, May 2026
Do it! It was an amazing experience. We felt completely safe the entire time. Somewhat choppy since you’re somewhat far out, I’d highly recommend taking or wearing something for nausea if you get sea sick. I would 100% do this again.
Erkin_G, May 2026
Captain and the crew were experts. Very friendly people. They made the experience much better. Waves could be worse than the sharks so watch out and be aware of the motion sickness!
Jeremy_F, May 2026
We had a great time! The guides were great and helpful, and we saw lots of sharks. Take Dramamine because the waves are no joke, but it’s definitely worth it. It felt very safe too. I highly recommend going. Be sure to bring a waterproof pouch for your phone so you can take videos underwater.

Just the right length and tons of sharks. Great experience very enjoyable and easy crew was great good time

You will absolutely see sharks, a lot of them. It was awesome and want to do again. It was an amazing experience!

Mahalo Mandy!

Super exciting experience. I got seasick, so it’s hard to give it a five star, but exactly as described, you see lots of sharks. 20 minutes is plenty of time in the water.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for the review and I am sorry that mother nature threw in some choppy conditions that day. Hopefully, we will see you on your next Hawaiian adventure during better conditions.
Chris_Y, May 2026
Awesome experience, if you are subject to motion sickness you should take medication or patch to help prior to heading out. The North shore is subject to some serious rolling waves but the team handles it well.
Response from Host, May 2026
Aloha and thank you for your review, kind words and 5 stars. I am glad that you had a SHARK-tastic time with us and I look forward to seeing you and your Ohana on your next Hawaiian vacation.
Jeff_L, May 2026
Great time seeing sharks. Bonus: dolphins, whales and jellyfish! The boat was in good shape. No amenities.
Response from Host, May 2026
We call that the trilogy at North Shore Shark Adventures. Sharks, whales and dolphins all in one day!
Then the bonus jellyfish!
See you next time
REGINA_W, Apr 2026
You will get wet so bring your own towel and if you want to take pics put ur camera in a water tight bag. That worked for us so we didn’t need to do the video that they offered.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thanks Regina for the review

Absolutely worthwhile experience for our whole family. It was truly wonderful and loved the whole trip. It can definitely get choppy out in the water so if you get sea sick, take medication before hand and DON’T eat food (or in my case coffee 🤣) beforehand. Heaps of sharks to see and plenty of time for great photos or camera footage. Our GoPro worked a treat and we got spectacular footage.
Response from Host, May 2026

WOW 🤩 stunning views and SO MANY SHARKS! Don’t forget Dramamine before if you get motion sickness. If you do forget like I did, it was still SO WORTH IT!
We had about 10-15 sharks in view at any given moment. The water was crystal clear and I felt so safe. Ken and Martin were a huge part of that and shared so much information with us about the sharks! I want to do this again IMMEDIATELY!
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your awesome review. Our captains and crew truly love being out on the water and sharing the awesome shark experience with people.

Mahalo for selecting North Shore Shark Adventures for your memorable moments.
Carmina_M, Apr 2026
Amazing experience overall, and the staff were super friendly, helpful, and made everyone feel safe the entire time. The boat ride isn’t very long, which is a huge plus, but I’d still recommend taking some anti-nausea medication beforehand just to be safe- sea conditions are always different, best to take precautions and get your sea legs ready We saw several sharks even before diving into the cage. Totally worth it!
Response from Host, Apr 2026

Great experience and one to check off the bucket list! Could have stayed in the cage for longer! Got to see so many sharks and just the beauty of the ocean. Was a little choppy waters so be mindful if you don’t have the best sea legs. The two guides were super laid back and made us feel welcome. 10/10 would do again!
Response from Host, Apr 2026

Nancy_D, Apr 2026
The crew was awesome. They were kind and informative. It’s worth doing The snorkel mask fit well. Great experience
It would been nice if possibly fewer people in cage ( maybe just 6 at a time
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for joining us and thank you so much for your high praise of our crew!
Angela_W, Apr 2026
Friendly, professional crew. As long as you keep your arms & legs inside the cage it’s not scary at all. The sharks are beautiful to see gliding through the water. Wear a wetsuit if you have one, the water is a bit cold.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

The captains were absolute legends—funny, chill, and made the whole experience unforgettable! I came for the sharks but stayed for the top-tier banter. Honestly felt like I had a full-on interview with the sharks… pretty sure they approved of me. 😂 Incredible experience all around—10/10 would risk being judged by sharks again!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Mahalo Cindy! Yes, you got the full approval from the sharks. See you next time

If you’re looking for a true adrenaline rush, the shark cage excursion with Captain Tim and Mel is an absolute must.
From the start, Captain Tim made everyone feel safe and confident with his calm, knowledgeable approach. You can tell he’s incredibly experienced, which makes all the difference when you’re about to get in the water with sharks. Mel brought an awesome energy to the trip—fun, engaging, and great at keeping everyone excited while also making sure we were fully prepared.
And then there’s the experience itself… absolutely exhilarating. Being in the cage, surrounded by sharks, is something that’s hard to put into words. It’s equal parts thrilling and awe-inspiring. Seeing these incredible animals up close, moving so powerfully and gracefully through the water, was unforgettable.
What really stood out was how smoothly everything was run. The crew kept it organized, safe, and interactive the entire time, making sure everyone had a chance to enjoy the experience fully.
This wasn’t just an activity—it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Huge thanks to Captain Tim and Mel for making it so memorable. Highly recommend to anyone ready for something truly exciting.

Hands down one of the best things to do in Hawaii. Me and my boyfriend were a little nervous at first but was definitely worth it! Matty and Martin were great guides and made sure everyone was having a good time, They both gave a lot of cool information about the area we were in and what has been happening lately. Our group seen about 15 sharks and would definitely do it again! Overall it was a great experience with great people and would definitely recommend to first timers or re occurring visitors!!
Nony_F, Apr 2026
Amazing time. Couldn’t have asked for better weather or water conditions. The sharks come so close but it’s not secret just surreal. Definitely recommend and get the video you won’t regret it
Melanie_B, Apr 2026
Literally one of the best experiences. Saw so many sharks. Eve saw dolphins and whales on the boat ride out. Highly recommend. It can be choppy; some were throwing up. Take Dramamine beforehand if you’re sensitive to motion sickness.
Madison_M, Apr 2026
I was super nervous at first and then once I got in I wasnt nervous anymore and got comfortable quick! This was one od our best experiences in Hawaii out of 3 of the islands we visited this vacation! It was awesome!!
Sujith_A, Apr 2026
Crew is fantastic. And the experience is really good. Get a towel when arriving, and please be on time
Matt_S, Apr 2026
Matty and Martin hands down the best, good people right there. Knowledgeable, and very easy to approach type people. They even took a little extra time so we could get better pictures of spinner dolphins and a few humpback whales. My wife didn’t do the shark dive but she said Matty and Martin answered all her questions and then some while I was in the cage. We did the 7am trip on 4/15/26, when we arrived it took maybe 30-60 seconds and they had over 20 sharks circling the boat. I couldn’t believe it. We did a lot of tours even did the manta ray night snorkel but this shark swim made the trip for us. Tip Matty and Martin well as they go above and beyond. I’m sure their other tour guides are awesome too but when we go back I will ask for those two.
Jillian_S, Apr 2026
So majestic and amazing. I do wish that our tour guide was a bit more informative. They told us they would tell us about the strike when we got there and then basically just told us to get in the cage and start seeing things. I knew what to expect because I am a shark fanatic, but others might be a bit more scared and not know what type of sharks are seeing in fear that they might see a great white or something like that.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for the review. i will personally folow up regarding this.
