Extraordinarily interesting with a panoramic view of the city that was spectacular. Bobbie was knowledgeable , friendly, and frankly, this was the first tour that I have been on where they reject tips.

This was an interesting and informative tour! Our docent, Chris, gave us details about design, construction, engineering and neighborhood history. The ship was comfortable and pace appropriate. I had no trouble hearing the PA.

This 90-minute river cruise provided a fascinating and informative experience about the architecture behind Chicago’s most famous buildings. From the large open top of a boat, we rode the Chicago River seeing magnificent structures that ranged from the early 1900s to today and the transformation of architectural styles from Beaux Arts and Art Deco to postmodernism and contemporary. The sights were just stunning. We were fortunate to have a docent from the Chicago Architecture Center narrate the trip, and she knew everything, adding Chicago history for context. Highly recommended!

Tour is extremely informative- volunteer docent was extremely knowledgeable and shared her knowledge in an entertaining manner. You can’t appreciate Chicago’s architecture until you see it from the water and learn the history. Money well spent and I will do this tour again!

Tour is well worth it. Alice, our guide, was full of information presented in an entertaining way. You need this to better understand Chicago!
Brian_Q, Apr 2026
Very informative and interesting. Docent (John I think) was excellent! It got chilly in the late afternoon, so dress warmly.

This tour was recommended by both sides of our Chicagoan families when we visited because it’s the real deal. The architectural foundation not only trains the guides, but the proceeds go to support the next generation of architects. The tour did not disappoint. Our guide, Anthony was knowledgeable, funny and charismatic. Now it’s our turn to recommend this tour to family & friends.
Debbie_H, Apr 2026
The tour was very informative. Our guide, Mark, gave a nonstop guided tour adding personal notes along the way. Highly recommend this experience.
Arlene_R, Apr 2026
River cruise was amazing! Very educationa -we now look at buildings differently, the guide was very knowledgeable and was able to coherently give the history of Chicago and intertwine the architecture of the city. We were with family that have never been on this tour and although we’ve been on this cruise before, we learned things that weren’t covered the last time. We sat on top and could hear the guide well. It was cold but we were dressed for the weather. Great tour and well worth it!
Jenny_Q, Apr 2026
A very worthwhile tour , a fantastic way to view the buildings and to have a commentary of the types of architecture.
Would highly recommend.

We greatly enjoyed our architectural tour with The First Lady. We sat up top, and the ride was smooth and comfortable, and our tour guide extremely knowledgable and friendly, not corny. If you catch a chill, you can duck into the lower level which has more comfortable seats and a bar with coffee and snacks. The restrooms are nice too.
Kathy_T, Apr 2026
