There is no cost to visit the Cascade Range, as it’s a mountain range that passes through much of the Pacific Northwest, from British Columbia, through Washington and Oregon, and into Northern California. Tours that visit the range include excursions from Seattle—which start at around US$260 per person—and Mt. Hood tours from Portland.

The best season to visit the Cascades depends largely on what you enjoy doing. If you're a fan of snow sports, you may want to plan a winter trip to ski at Mt. Bachelor, Crystal Mountain, or Mt. Hood. For hiking, the summer months are ideal, offering pleasant weather and a low chance of rain.

The Cascades Range is huge, with great hiking areas as far north as BC and as far south as Northern California, and much of the Pacific Crest Trail goes through the range. Washington’s North Cascades National Park and Mt. Rainier offer great hiking, as does Oregon’s Mt. Hood National Forest.

All sorts of wildlife live in the Cascade Range, but because the region is huge, some species are only found in some parts. For example, in the North Cascades National Park area in northern Washington, there are small numbers of gray wolves and wolverines, with much larger populations of squirrels, pika, and Columbia black-tailed deer.

Yes, there are lots of scenic drives with good viewpoints in the Cascade Range. Oregon alone has plenty of great options, and many of the state's official scenic byways traverse the range. Some worth seeking out include the West Cascades Scenic Byway, within day-trip distance of Portland, and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway near Bend.
