Touring Mt. Vernon was great but the tour guide and transport was terrible. I would not recommend to anyone. You would be better off getting to Mt. Vernon yourself. Due to all the activities going on in downtown DC, the tour guide had to change the pickup location, which was fine. However with the extreme heat, I called him about 20 mins before the pickup asking what kind of transport to expect so we could be on the lookout for when he arrived so we could remain in the shaded areas. I was told "Don't worry about it". "If I don't see you, I'll call you." Really? The sprinter van was clean but smelled of recent smoke that made me want to barf. The 25 min drive to Mt Vernon was painful listening to useless commentary to fill dead air space. Then when we arrived, we were treated to warm water bottles to enjoy in 90 degree heat. The tour around the property was interesting and cool, and we avoided eyesight with the tour guide so we wouldnt be subject to more useless chatter. Really enjoyed the Mt. Vernon site, but again, would have preferred handling it independently, rather than paying $100 pp for terrible tour company. I was really surprised that a reputable company like this provided something so shameful. Thankfully we had a friend pick us up at Mt. Vernon rather than have to take the return trip. AVOID AT ALL COST!

We are implementing stricter checks to guarantee that all refreshments are properly chilled, especially during hot weather.We are truly sorry that we failed to provide the reliable, enjoyable experience you deserved. We were in Mount Vernon 30 minutes before the tour when we received messages to meet in Washington DC. That was not part of the plan.

The new meeting point was approximately an 8 minute walk from the original location. We also noted that you had read the message but did not respond or confirm receipt.We understand that this change may have caused frustration, and we deeply regret that you were unable to join the tour. Mount Vernon was amazing and it was so nice to have a seamless travel experience. Our guide was a great communicator. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My only feedback is that I felt the tour started too late in the day and I felt rushed through all the sites. We didn’t get to enjoy everything for as long as we would have liked. Overall a great day!

However, we are sorry to learn that the timing of the tour did not allow you to fully enjoy all aspects of the experience as you had hoped. We would like to clarify that the time allocated for the West Canyon portion of the tour is 3.5 hours, as disclosed in the itinerary. We understand that the shuttle and dining queues were longer than anticipated, which unfortunately impacted your ability to fully enjoy the experience. Please note that these wait times are related to the management of the scenic area itself, rather than the operation of our tour. We have shared your feedback with the West Canyon management team to make them aware of the extended wait times guests are experiencing, in hopes that improvements can be made.
We would like to kindly clarify that, per our records, the mansion entrance was included in your tour package. We also confirmed with the guide that the time spent at the location met the scheduled duration. However, we understand that the time may have felt insufficient for your personal preference.

We had a wonderful personalized experience today with Alper. He gave us so much information along the drive about what we saw, gave us great tips for what to see while we were at Mount Vernon, and even gave us tips for the rest of our vacation. Would highly recommend.
