Itinerary

Meet your guide in Downtown Anchorage prior to your morning start time. Learn about Alaska’s rich cultural heritage from your guide as you make your way to your first stop at Ship Creek, where you can watch salmon running upstream for much of the year.

Pass by important Anchorage landmarks like Earthquake Park and Lake Hood on your way to your next stop, Alaska Wild Berry Products. Watch a 20-foot (6-meter) tall chocolate waterfall tumble toward the ground.

Next, continue to Alaska Sausage and Seafood, where you can sample northern delicacies such as smoked salmon and reindeer sausage. They can pack it for traveling if you want to buy some to take home.

Then, continue to the ULU Factory, where you can watch traditional knives being made and learn how to use a ULU knife and cutting bowl. Finally, complete your tour at the Point Woronzof viewpoint, where you can see the city skyline, Cook Inlet, and the glacier-capped peak of Mt. Denali.

Return to your hotel or any other specified point in downtown Anchorage at the end of your tour.

Reindeer and Salmon Tasting

HAZEL_C, Jul 2026
The experience was interesting and rewarding. The tasting of the different types of salmons was impressive.

There must be better ways of experiencing Anchorage

Peter_K, Jun 2026
A lot of hurried driving around to "points of interest" viewed, in my experience, with minimal commentary or explanation, ending with a pointless long drive to a "viewpoint" on the off-chance (during a stay of just 8-10 minutes) of spotting a beluga whale! The factory/shop visits were better because their staff spoke to us and gave interesting information (and samples!) and these were the aspects that made taking this tour worthwhile. Our driver/guide did not seem especially enthusiastic, did the minimum necessary and seemed keen to end her day and go home.

Barr_L, Jun 2026
One of the worst tours we have ever been on, we even cut out early. The tour guide seemed disinterested and not very knowledgeable. Our “salmon creek” stop consisted of a 15 second drive by.

This was a nice way to get acclimated to Alaska. Our guide was very knowledgeable, with tips and suggestions. The tastings were truly just tastings so don’t go hungry.

Great tour of Anchorage

Brian_B, Jun 2026
It was a very informative and interesting tour. Our driver/tour guide, Bao, was very delightful and entertaining.

Good post cruise tour

Linda_F, Jun 2026
We had a late flight out of Anchorage after a cruise. We chose this because it was in the middle of the day, lasted a few hours and the timing was perfect. We ended up enjoying it more than expected. We found it interesting and the tour guide was entertaining, showing us Anchorage with a few local samples.

A little bit of everything

Kent_N, Jun 2026
This tour was a great way to explore the city, see some sights, shop, hear about local history and daily life. A little bit of everything! Gary was a great driver and easy to listen to for 3 hours!

High recommended.

Anchorage city tour and salmon tasting

Sally_W, Jun 2026
Did not enjoy this tour. Our shuttle bus was extremely cramped and driver/tour guide’s microphone did not work so it was difficult to hear her. She also seemed bored. For a city tour, I felt more time was spent at the 3 stores we stopped at in the hopes that we’d all buy stuff. Showing us where the homeless hang out and the bridge where 200 people have committed suicide was somewhat odd. Underwhelming tour.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify a few points for future guests. Prior to departure, all guests receive reminders recommending that they arrive early for parking, check-in, restrooms, and refreshments. On the day of your tour, your group arrived after the requested check-in time, resulting in a departure delay of approximately 15 minutes. Delays can impact the experience for all guests and create unnecessary stress for both the arriving party and those who arrived on time. During Alaska's peak summer season, tours regularly operate at full capacity, and arriving at the scheduled departure time rather than before it can limit seating options, particularly for larger groups wishing to sit together. Our fleet consists of modern, high-top walk-in touring vans designed to comfortably accommodate guests of all sizes. When guests arrive on time and complete the check-in process as requested, we are better able to assign seating that best fits the needs and comfort of each individual and group. Early arrival helps ensure a smoother experience for everyone on the tour and allows guests time to use our facilities before departure. We would also like to clarify that the Anchorage All Around City Tour is a city sightseeing tour focused on Anchorage's history, culture, neighborhoods, scenic viewpoints, and major attractions. Viewing the bore tide is not part of this itinerary. The bore tide occurs well outside the city, and reaching a viewing location would require approximately an hour of driving beyond Anchorage. Guests interested in seeing the bore tide should book a tour specifically designed for that experience. We also want to correct the statement regarding discussions of suicide. This did not occur during your tour and is not part of our tour narrative. Furthermore, the claim regarding hundreds of people jumping from a bridge is simply not factual. We are unsure where this information originated, but it was not presented by our guide and is not included in our standard tour presentation. As for homelessness, Anchorage faces many of the same challenges seen in cities throughout North America. Our guides strive to provide an authentic overview of the city while highlighting its history, natural beauty, aviation heritage, wildlife, and local culture. The Anchorage All Around City Tour includes numerous points of interest, including Lake Hood Seaplane Base, Earthquake Park, Point Woronzof, Ship Creek, Westchester Lagoon, the Alaska Railroad area, downtown Anchorage, and scenic viewpoints featuring Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains. Many visitors choose this tour because it provides one of the most comprehensive introductions to Anchorage available in a single outing. We appreciate your visit and thank you for sharing your perspective.

The tour was great & Gary was a wonderful guide/driver! I would highly recommend the tour for anyone 👌

This is not a walking...

Dawn_C, Jun 2026
This is not a walking city tour. The van ride was nice. Apparently if you have a tour later in the day, you may miss the salmon and reindeer tasting stop if the store has closed. Lots of souvenir shopping opportunities along the way.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your feedback and for joining our tour. You are correct that this is not a walking tour. Our tour description clearly states that guests travel in our comfortable Ford Transit vans, with multiple stops along the route to explore key locations, take photos, and enjoy the sights. The tour is designed to cover a large area of Anchorage and its surrounding scenic attractions, which would not be possible on a walking tour. Regarding the smoked salmon and reindeer sausage tasting, Alaska Sausage & Seafood closes at 5:00 PM. For that reason, we carefully schedule our city tours to ensure guests have the opportunity to enjoy this popular stop. We do not operate later city tours that would cause guests to miss the tasting experience. While we do include opportunities to shop for unique Alaska-made products, the focus of our tour is much broader than shopping. Guests enjoy visiting Ship Creek during the salmon run, Earthquake Park, Lake Hood, Potter Marsh, Beluga Point, Falls Creek waterfall, scenic overlooks of Anchorage and, weather permitting, Denali. Along the way, there are frequent opportunities to see wildlife, including moose and mountain goats. Many visitors choose our tour because it provides an excellent overview of Anchorage's history, culture, aviation heritage, wildlife, and natural beauty in a single experience. It is especially popular with travelers who want to see far more than downtown Anchorage while learning about the city from knowledgeable local guides. Our goal is to showcase the best of Anchorage and the surrounding area, and many guests tell us it is one of the highlights of their visit to Alaska. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Great tour!

We had a lot of fun, and our driver was so informative! He made it very personal. We enjoyed all of the stops.

A must tour in Anchorage!

Stops are at tourist trap gift shops

Steve_S, Jun 2026
Stops are at overpriced tourist traps. Guide was not that knowledgeable and not a native Alaskan, Did not really answer questions. Seating in the van was crammed, hot, and uncomfortable, piling in and out. There is really not much to see in Anchorage. Includes a stop to see the runway take off and landing area at the airport and the FedEx building? Wow....thanks but I get to see that twice on a trip for free. Your best to spend your money on other more longer tours out the Turnagain Arm, Portage Lake, AWCC, glaciers which are well worth it. If your just trying to kill some time for a day, as I was, take a visit to the Anchorage museum and have lunch somewhere.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that our Anchorage City Tour did not meet your expectations. Our tour is designed to provide visitors with a comprehensive introduction to Anchorage and the surrounding area, and we are proud to offer more scenic stops than any other city tour in the region. Along the way, guests visit Ship Creek to view the salmon run, Earthquake Park, scenic overlooks of Anchorage and, on clear days, Denali, Lake Hood, Potter Marsh, Beluga Point, Falls Creek waterfall, and areas where mountain goats and moose are frequently spotted. We were surprised by your characterization of our shopping stops as "tourist traps." We specifically choose locations that are unique to Alaska and situated outside the downtown core. Alaska Wild Berry Products is home to the world's largest chocolate waterfall and offers a wide range of reasonably priced Alaska-made products. We also stop at the Ulu Factory, where guests can learn about the history and craftsmanship of Alaska's iconic ulu knife while browsing locally made gifts and souvenirs at various price points. In addition, our tour includes a tasting of locally smoked salmon, giving visitors an opportunity to experience a true Alaska flavor. Many guests tell us that these stops are among their favorite parts of the tour because they combine local history, culture, and shopping opportunities that they might not otherwise discover on their own. We recognize that some travelers prefer longer excursions focused on glaciers, Portage Valley, or Turnagain Arm. Our city tour serves a different purpose—showcasing Anchorage's history, culture, wildlife, scenery, and unique landmarks in a convenient half-day experience. We appreciate your comments and will continue working to provide the best possible experience for our guests. Thank you for traveling with us.

Fun afternoon in Anchorage

Suanne_A, Jun 2026
Great day to be on tour in Anchorage. We hit all the hot spots, scenic overlooks and had two tastings. Bao was great!

We choose the tour for...

John_B, May 2026
We choose the tour for the sausage tasting... And was provided with a deli tray in airport lot. Not the same experience as was expected. Not much information was provided.. ex. No tour at the Ulu plant. More city history ex. Captain Cook and a discussion on the city itself ex. City hall would be places of interest on a city tour. She didn't set expectations for for time and guest took advantage and dawdled so the end of the tour was rushed. Tour guide was energetic and friendly.

City overview main attractions

Christy_J, May 2026
Did not start off well by telling us that the location that offered the salmon and reindeer tasting is closed on Saturdays. Nine people were upset because we could’ve done a different city tour, but they went and found some at a grocery store and we ate it on one of our stops. We did get to see interesting things so it was worth the ride around.

Great fin tour

Mike_G, May 2026
Voa did a great job. Made the tour informative, fun and engaging. Good balance of shopping speciality store and facts about Anchorage.

Great day in Anchorage

Lillian_F, May 2026
Melissa was terrific! Such a pleasure to spend the day with. She really went really went out of her way to make sure everyone was having a good time. The itinerary was fun. A great mix of scenic views, learning about Alaska and experiencing authentic Alaska tastes and sites. Highly recommend it.

Very good

Arthur_M, May 2026
Salmon was excellent.. just tiny chunks of salmon and the sausages.. tour guild (Bao) was very good.

Skip this one!

Kirsten_L, May 2026
Our guide was kind and friendly, but she did not have very much deep-seeded knowledge on Anchorage, and the tour left much to be desired. First, the tour is titled "Taste of Wild Smoked Salmon & Reindeer Sausage," but the company booked our tour on a day when the Salmon and Reindeer sausage location was closed. With this title, it was a focal point of the tour, so scheduling the tour when this tasting is most certainly unavailable is deceiving to say the least. Everyone on our tour expressed considerable disappointment with this information upon our arrival to the meeting point. We should have been provided this information prior to the tour AND with the option to cancel the tour with a full refund because of it. But, alas, we were not informed. Thus, because the tour missed this key, integral part, the tour guide had to "fill time," and to do so, one of the places she took us was to the Anchorage Airport to see planes take off (really?? Next!) and also to a Floatplane storage area (again, really??) This tour definitely disappointed, and sadly, I can't say I would recommend it.

Val, the guide, was...

cjdonahue, May 2026
Val, the guide, was perfectly fine. We thought Anchorage had more to offer and see, so we were a bit disappointed.

Amazing Anchorage

Teresa_W, May 2026
It was a small group of 14 which was nice. Our driver/tour guide, Vao, was wonderful. The stops for photos were beautiful, the tastings were yummy, & we saw 2 moose!
