Itineraries for Your Trip to Houston
2 Days in Houston for First Timers
I'm always impressed by how Houston is evolving every time I visit. Whenever I've finally made it to all my favorite spots, places like Space Center Houston, the Downtown Aquarium, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science, a new exhibit or immersive experience pops up that draws me in for a return visit.
When you have two days in Houston, I recommend spending some time in the city's Museum District, enjoying the area's varied cuisine, and learning a bit about the ever-evolving street art scene. I love planning an active morning exploring the city's waterways via a kayak and then heading indoors in the afternoon when the temps creep up.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a visit to the Museum District.
Houston is hot and humid most of the year, and rain is always possible.
Start your visit to the large metropolis with a city tour. This 1.5-hour bus tour will give you some of the city's history as you drive past Houston landmarks like City Hall, the Downtown Aquarium, Tranquility Park, and the Toyota Center, home to the NBA team, the Houston Rockets.
Head out of downtown for an afternoon at Space Center Houston. This is the perfect air-conditioned activity, and you'll learn about Houston's important place in American space exploration. Check out the massive collection of moon rocks and lunar samples, and see if you have what it takes to become an astronaut.
Head back downtown to Market Square, where you'll meet up with your guide to tour Houston's haunted locales like the Magnolia Brewing Building, where visitors claim to hear spooky laughter from the darkness. This walking tour is a fun way to end your day in Houston—if you dare!
Now that you've worked up an appetite join your group in Market Square for an afternoon to taste some of Houston's unique foods. You'll be surprised by the variety of offerings, from birria egg rolls to a unique twist on a Vietnamese chicken and rice dish. Bring your appetite, as the best thing about a food tour is you get to try a little bit of many different items.

Give your legs a rest and spend your evening exploring Houston's street art scene via an electric golf cart. You will get fun selfies to take home and learn about the art and artists who create the works from your guide. This tour is a fun way to see a different area of Houston that's off the beaten path.
