First-Time Kayakers Review of Ryan of Cal Coast Adventures
Our instructor Ryan was chill, knowledgeable, had a lot of good historical info, and made our first kayaking trip quite enjoyable. I had a bit of trepidation initially, as I always do with first-time activities, but he was so easy to chat with and gave great instructions. We saw some cool water wildlife, learned some interesting santa barbara history, and even got a few good tips on local restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanks to Ryan!

We were able to see plenty of wildlife on our tour. We saw harbor seals, sea lions, many different birds, crabs, and a salp. The water was pretty calm and paddling wasn’t too strenuous. Peter ans Spencer were awesome guides. They were friendly and very knowledgeable.

Sandy beach and Santa Barbara Waterfront on a cloudy day.
  • East Beach is a world-famous beach volleyball destination—join a pick-up game if you dare.
  • Remember to pack sunscreen and a hat if you’re heading to the beach.
  • The Cabrillo bike trail along the waterfront is wheelchair-accessible.
  • Walk to the end of the wharf for a great photo opportunity of the city with the Santa Ynez mountains in the background.
