Unspoiled Scenic Landscape

This has been a long awaited “Highlight” of our week. Everyone braved the freezing cold and no gadgets (except music) during the entire day for both kids and adults. Our tour guide, Mike, was very friendly and professional. He made sure everyone in the group felt welcome and really made the atmosphere in the bus great. I mainly went for the Hobbiton experience and found it exceeded expectations. The glow worm cave was also really impressive. The day has been such a highlight of my whole holiday I am really glad I went.

It is a must do for...

It is a must do for people from NZ and for those visiting from overseas. This was my second visit. This time it was with a 19 year old grand-daughter visiting from the UK. A nearly 21 year old grand-daughter will visit me soon and she may well want to do the Hobbiton tour too. Amazing. Lovely pilot who gave great commentary throughout flight and was generally very friendly. Views from the plane are incredible, it's a great vantage of dramatic and changing landscape. The cruise was also a great experience, we managed to see a dolphins and got very close to the waterfalls.

Beautiful!

We loved this experience! The cave is beautiful and the boat ride through the river in the cave to see the glowworms was magical. Two things to be aware of: 1. You cannot take pictures inside of the cave 2. I would recommend stopping in town to eat as we did not find the food at the restaurant to be our favorite.

Fabulous boat trip and dinner.

Well worth the time and money spent. Great commentary on the boat over to Walter's Peak estate and amazing dinner. They treated me well as a solo traveler. They also, I guess from my birthdate, that it was my birthday and they had set up the table with a special surprise birthday message and they also came out at the dinner service singing happy birthday and cake. The trip over and back in the boat was smooth and comfortable.

Great Ship, Great Tour

This boat was an excellent one for the experience as it had many seats and table tables inside, along with a café to get food. It’s one of the only boats that tour Milford sound which offer this option. But even better, there are great viewing opportunities outside and up top, which we took full advantage of. The tour took us all around the sound, and we saw all the waterfalls, as well as going out into the Tazman Sea for a ways, and then turning around to come back into the sound. The captain talked quite a bit, although it was more difficult to hear outside, but overall, I highly recommend this tour, which was also a very competitive price.

We really enjoyed our dinner and learning about Māori culture. The performance was incredible and we loved dinner and dessert! Walking around the bush was also really neat even with the dark and rain; really added to the ambience. The performers were very talented and engaging, and our host taught us much about the people and history.

Must-do when in...

Must-do when in Queenstown. Did this first when I visited in February with my sisters, and enjoyed it so much, I had to take my now husband on the way to our wedding. Both of us were really nervous before the first time we both went, but the drivers are absolutely amazing (I think they said they train for 18mths before they take passengers). Ngāi Tahu tourism are an extremely professional operation, and their safety record is impeccable. They are the best for a Queenstown jet boat experience - don't skimp and go for a cheaper operator - Shotover Jet have the exclusive rights to the section of river that's best for this. So much fun - you really won't regret it (and like us, will probably want to go again as soon as you get off!)
