The group was way too big. We couldn’t enjoy ourselves because there were people pushing everywhere. You are in confined areas with the large group for long periods of time and a few folks smelled quite bad.

This was great fun n even if you haven’t seen the movies Weta has worked on. It is very hands on and an amazing look at all of the detail that goes into creating characters, world building and props.

There were way too many people on the tour (33) - made it a total scrum and was unable to hear almost anything the guide was explaining.
Some interesting content but too much padding and with it being so crowded it just felt overly long and frankly a bit dull

A very fun experience and must see for anyone visiting Auckland. We visited both Weta Workshops in Wellington and Auckland and we would highly recommend both. They are both quite different, and the one in Auckland was really interesting focusing on three movie concepts that they actually built sets, costumers, and created effects for. The ideas were so interesting that if they were ever to be released in theaters, I would gladly pay to watch them.

We haven’t seen any of The Lord of the Rings Movies so we didn’t know a lot of who the characters were and where they fit into the movie but we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was fascinating to see how characters were made and the materials that were used.

We weren't able to visit the one in Wellington, So were excited to learn there was this smaller workshop in Auckland. Would be of particular appeal to anyone with a niche interest in sci-fi /action /horror/thriller genre productions. It's a rich experience for someone already interested in how movies are made: sets, prosthetics, etc. Otherwise, of relatively limited appeal. Excellent, central location makes it easy to get to. My only complaint was that our guide - while super energetic and fun - spoke very, very quickly and I often couldn't follow her without really concentrating hard!

We really enjoyed the experience. Deja did an excellent job and (I hope that we really spelled her name right). This tour took about 2 hours. Never felt rushed. We took as many pictures as we wanted to.Had a great time.

It’s quite basic compared to the Wellington one

We had a fabulous time at the Weta Workshop. Our guide Cameron, really brought the experience to life. He gave detailed explanations at each activity and answered all individual questions as they arose. We had plenty of time to try out all the interactive experiences and take pictures. All displays were detailed and it was so interesting to see the creativity of the Weta workers. We highly recommend this when next in Auckland.

The tour is very interactive and informative. The tour is something that small kids would enjoy as well, there are lots of animatronics and hands-on things for them to play with. It's enlightening to see how the costumes, props, and miniatures for movies are made... so much detail and painstaking work!
