From start to finish, this was truly the best day I’ve had in years. Our driver, Carl, was absolutely fantastic—professional, friendly, and full of knowledge. He made the long journey from Queenstown to Milford Sound fly by, keeping us entertained with fascinating insights about the region, its history, and the incredible local wildlife. Along the way, he stopped at several stunning lookout points so we could stretch our legs and soak up some of the most picturesque scenery imaginable. Each stop felt like its own little adventure, with countless photo opportunities and moments that took my breath away.
When we arrived at Milford Sound, we boarded the cruise, and it was nothing short of magical. Gliding through the fjord, surrounded by towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls, felt surreal. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any dolphins that day, but we were lucky enough to see a few seals lounging on the rocks. The boat also paused for photos at some incredible vantage points—and at one point, the captain steered us right under a waterfall, completely drenching the front of the boat. It was such a fun and unforgettable highlight!
The combination of a scenic road trip with a guide like Carl and the breathtaking cruise itself made this day absolutely perfect. It’s a long day, but worth every single moment. I cannot recommend this tour enough—it’s an experience I’ll remember forever.

We had Brendan as our bus driver and he was such a fantastic guide! The overall experience was wonderful and enjoyed by the entire family. There are USB-A charging ports besides the seats. I really appreciated the pickup and drop off option from a bus stop closest to our hotel.
We do hope that for future travellers, there might be wifi on bus.

The entire drive/cruise tour was absolutely epic! The bus was comfortable enough and the glass roof was very nice for feeling really immersed in the wonder of the scenery we were driving through.
The one semi-downer was that the bus driver, while friendly, knowledgeable&a safe driver, mentioned more than once that "we" were behind the time curve for New Zealand driver labor laws, which felt a bit like pressure to rush through every stop. He mentioned it again when we transferred to the cruise portion, asking us to be sure to be on time to meet him afterwards even though we had no control over the cruise boat's schedule.
This also included not being able to make a bathroom or even leg-stretch stop on the return trip until we were almost back in Queenstown anyway, which was puzzling. There was a bathroom on the bus, but the driver never mentioned if it was unlocked or not. He also said that only one of the several bus cleaners would be able to make it to work that night and asked us to be sure to take all our trash with us. These are very minor quibbles of course, but it was consistent enough of a theme that the company might try to tweak their scheduling to avoid these problems.
Otherwise, it was a great tour and very good value for the cost. Overall very enjoyable!

I really loved this experience! The cruise captain and bus driver both provided interesting and informative commentary. I appreciated that they often stopped to let us appreciate (and take photos) of the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Lunch and complimentary hot drinks were great as well!

This is a must do activity when visiting Queenstown. Milford sound is beautiful and very scenic. Take a rain jacket and some change of cloths. It is a long day but definitely worth it. Our tour bus was very large and clean with big glass windows. The whole event was extremely punctual and organized. We had a wonderful time

Beautiful country side drive, some people felt a bit of motion sickness due to windy roads. Most everyone was fine, it is a long day but so nice to have a capable and experienced driver. George was our driver and he had a very dry sense of humor that made us smile! He pointed out many sites and educated us on things as we traveled. Of course the Milford Sound boat cruise was phenomenal. Pictures do not do it justice! The captain’s commentaries were also educational. We dressed for the rain, but only had a few drops.

Hamish was a wonderful guide and gave us so much insight into the history of New Zealand and everywhere we visited. He was incredibly funny, considerate and a very safe driver! It was a wonderful day and we visited such beautiful picturesque locations, although the weather turned somewhat gloomy by the time we boarded the boat it was just as scenic and incredible! I couldn’t recommend this tour more it is an unforgettable experience. And again we are so grateful to have had Hamish as our guide he was amazing.

Absolutely beautiful! It was so cozy on the bus and boat and the landscape outside the window was ALWAYS stunning. The sound and waterfalls were beautiful, the photo stops were well placed, and the free warm beverages on the boat helped with the fact that it was a rainy day.

A little underwhelming. We had great expectations for this tour but apart from the breathtaking views, the 4-hour one way trip to Milford Sound was long and monotonous. Our tour guide was simply a driver not a tour guide with hardly an explanation of the sights. Maybe we were used to other tours from other cities wherein even long drives were interesting as there were historical stories interspersed with the views. Also maybe a stop at a sheep or cow farm would have been good (we did one for cows in another city not in NZ). Anyway, the cruise itself was okay with the captain trying his best to add commentaries. I wish there was more energy and an earnest desire to make a good impression especially for first-timers who will probably not be able to come back to NZ for a long time or ever.

Robin was great picking us up this am and getting us to Milford Sound! Comfortable seats on bus. Great cruise. Chose the flight back with Luke and it was amazing! Had to get back from town on our own, just something to note if not planned.

12 hours is hard work but its worth the trip. It saves driving all that way and Queenstown is a fabulous base. On the 5 hours travelling to Milford Sound there are plenty of loo breaks and photo opportunities. Milford sound is well worth a visit especially on a sunny day. A 2 hour cruise is beautiful amidst mountain ranges hard to describe. On the 5 hours back you can sleep. The bus has a see through ceiling to see peaks of mountains and the driver was extremely competent and good natured. The person commentating on the cruise was extremely knowledgeable.

Milford Sound is stunning. But be prepared for a very long ride to and from Queenstown.
There is a flying option if you’re not afraid of small planes. That will cut your commute time wise.

Yes, yes, yes! Queenstown is absolutely stunning & the Milford Sound takes it up another notch! While the tour is fairly long considering the Milford Sound is about 2-3 hrs away from Queenstown, I would still highly recommend because the views are stunning.

There was a fair amount of time on the bus to get there and back from Queenstown. The trip is about four hours one way however there were a number of stops along the way the scenery was beautiful. The cruise was very relaxing. Overall, I thought it was a good trip.

While it is an early day, and long day of travel, the tour and cruise are unforgettable. Sebastian, our driver and tour guide, delivered an informative and knowledgeable narrative. This was an amazing tour not only from the lovely driver but every stop along the way to Milford Sound. The driver was exceptional in his commentary and also his patience for every stop. He was also very time efficient and a great driver! We had plenty of time prior to the tour on Milford. This was a wonderful experience to relax and take in the views but the food provided was so yummy! Also the driver of the cruise was so funny to listen to that it made the cruise go too quick! This is an amazing experience to not miss and I’d love to visit this company again!

We really enjoyed this experience. The tour operator reached out the day before asking for confirmation on accommodation for pickup and email to send the tour confirmation. We were lucky that we had a bus pick up right around our hotel, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown. Our bus driver Brenden was amazing as he was making “dad jokes” which made the trip drive to Milford Sound better.
When we got to Milford Sound the cruise picked up where the bus left off. The views were great, the captain got us right next to some of the water falls, and had great commentary throughout. This so far has been the highlight of our trip.
