Laura was an amazing travel guide. She knew her city, Auckland, so well, and shared so many interesting and unique facts. The food we tried was fabulous, tasty, Michelin and Hands rated, and unusual. Loved every minute of it. Would highly recommend this tour.

This experience is for those who enjoy fine food and learning about local history. There is some walking involved, but also lots of rest stops

Great mix of walking and trying new things. Sarah, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Loved all of the tastings and would never have found these places on own. Highly recommend this tour.

Amazing food! Laura also included a little bit of history of the area as we traveled to the city! Great introduction to Auckland!

Brilliant - thank you!

Kath was great guide and full of knowledge about the city and our food. There were 5 stops at locations that, with more time in the city, I would go to again

She is! and we hope you do!

Great places to eat and learn about the city. Our tour guide, Kath, did a great job. It's a good tour to take if you've never been to Auckland.

Brilliant Thank you

A very interesting culinary experience with elements of New Zealand's economic and history. For those planning a short stay in Auckland, it offers the opportunity to explore the diversity of local cuisine, and for those staying longer, it offers some ideas for further exploration of local flavors. I highly recommend this adventure.

thank you so much!

First the positive. The tour guide was nice, knowledgeable of the area and the history. That's where the positiveness ends.
The description didn't match the experience. It read "food and drink samples are included so you won't pay extra." Would explain the price right? Wrong. We got only 1/3 of a glass of wine at the first place. No other drinks at any of the other 4 stops. We had to pay a lot extra to have any drinks. And the food didn't make up for it.
The first stop was 1 oyster and 2 mussels. The second was in a food court... 3 dumplings. The third stop was a little cheese split amongst the group. The fourth stop was the most interesting... Three small bites at an Indian spot. And then a scoop of ice cream. Would you pay $130 USD per person for that?
It was good but not amazing and certainly wouldn't call it the hidden gems either.
We've done food tours a lot via Viator on our travels. This was the only one we really felt cheated.
Oh, and the kicker, they said they have been "trying to change the description" but having issues. Wouldn't recommend.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Yes you were noted. It's not often guests are complained about by other guests, the guide and vendors.

We really enjoyed our day! The tour was great and the sampling of local food was a perfect way to experience the city. We really enjoyed Mike and his knowledge of local history. Great tour!

My favorite food walking tour! I’ve always enjoyed these type of tours, especially when it’s unfamiliar territory. This was my fourth one - Little Havana in Miami, Dublin, and Singapore were the others - and while they were all great, this was some of the best food that I’ve had. I was completely blown away by the food scene in Auckland. I didn’t have a bad meal while I was there, but the tour was definitely eye opening. A variety of food along the five stops, and some very inventive cuisine that hits all the marks.
Plus I learned a lot about Auckland, which I knew nothing about. And Sarah, our guide was great. It felt more like an afternoon out with friends than a tour, and she really did a great job of sharing insights and the history of the city.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
thank you!

Our guide Laura was absolutely amazing!! She was informative, funny and easy to talk to. We didn't have to walk very far to visit the 5 spots on the food tour. If we were on our own, we wouldn't have known about any of these places. The food that we sampled was so... so good! The most surprisingly delicious treat we sampled were the dumplings in the food court. It was by far the best food we've ever eaten in a "food court". Overall we give Laura a 6 out 5 Stars!!!!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
She really is! I agree

We have been on many food tours around the world and this was by far the best. Every stop was spot on, filled with great food and a little bit of history. The guide, Laura, could not have been better!

What amazing feedback! Thank you

Excellent afternoon exploring the food of the city. I planned this on our arrival day so we could get a guide and some of the history of the city. The bonus is this is a great way to fight off jet lag!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
wonderful! and I agree - best cure for jetlag! :)
Dan_R, Mar 2026
Great experience to try different foods from local fooderies. Great mix of types of foods including beef, seafood, cheese plate, Asian dumplings, and ice cream. Great story telling by our guide Alex of each of our five restaurant experiences. We felt we better understood the New Zealand story as a result. Also, small group of nice people we met who were on our tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
thank you so much!

Jono was very entertaining as a guide. The food was fantastic. Fairly easy walk around the city. There were 14 in our group. Lots of fun. Foods included meat pies, fish and chips (not your traditional), dumplings, cheese plate, salmon cone, and ice cream just to name a few. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
thank you so much!
Lynette_K, Feb 2026
Nice walk about town, interesting to hear the history. Be aware if you have difficulty with stairs that one restaurant is up a flight. All the food we sampled was delicious. Sarah is a great guide, well worth the money.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
thanks for the feedback. That restaurant is only on the tours a couple of days a week
Robyn_R, Feb 2026
Sarah gave a great tour including Auckland history as well as information about the food scene. Each stop was unique and all provided a delicious tasting! We are definitely going back to a few of the stops. She also gave great recommendations about other restaurants that weren’t on the tour. One restaurant was part way up a steep hill and only had stairs, so if that is a problem for you, take note.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
thank you so very much!
Sharon_F, Feb 2026
Really enjoyed this experience, it's a great way to have a wonder around the city and enjoy some delicious food along the way. Our host Jono was very engaging and made a huge effort to ensure everyone on the tour had a great time, he was very knowledgeable about both the city and the foods .
The oyster bar was amazing, and I'm now a convert thoroughly enjoying the natural oyster.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Fantastic! Isn't that oyster bar great!

Not a tour of New Zealand foods which I guess I was expecting. The guide Alex was very good and managed the group well but the foods were just ok and the restaurants didn’t seem prepared for our group with inadequate seating or areas for us.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks for your feedback. She did mention you.
Jed_D, Feb 2026
