Milford Sound. What can I say. This is one of the most beautiful and majestic places I have ever seen. The boat ride was great. The shop is comfortable and our Captain was an excellent guide. It is a long drive to the sound, but the drive itself is worth seeing for its beauty. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic Small Cruise On Milford Sound

ROSLYN_P, Mar 2026
The Small Boat Cruise was fantastic. It was not crowded and the cruise was more intimate, we were able to sail under a waterfall and right up close to mountains and rocky outcrops. The Captain was very informative and interesting when sailing us around Milford Sound. We had a great and memorable experience.

The cruise is great but...

Idalia_P, Mar 2026
The cruise is great but hearing the descriptions/tour guide is difficult while sitting outside. The small boat definitely got closer to the waterfall spray than a larger boat after us.

Beautiful scenery. Captain needs to cut out all the talking and jokes.

Margaret_B, Mar 2026
Absolutely beautiful scenery. Loved the waterfalls. Coffee was nice because it was cold outside. My husband and boys both enjoyed. Glad it was smaller group because it seemed like a lot of people when they would rush outside after captain would point out areas of interest. Wished the captain would just announce the facts and cut out all the chit chat. I have his voice in all my videos and it’s not a voice I want to remember. It’s like people who play music when hiking and mar the immersion experience with nature and the sounds in nature. . I don’t want to remember him I want to remember the experience.

Fantastic!

Layne_W, Mar 2026
Well organized professional crew. Great commentary and great plantation of the sites. Scenery is unique. Saw dolphins and young seals!

Smaller boat, greater adventure

Leanne_J, Mar 2026
We chose this Boutique Cruise on reviews and it was absolutely the best decision. The drive to Milford Sound is spectacular and then to experience the Sound on a smaller boat with less people that can get you closer to waterfalls and seals sunning themselves on rocks was such a perfect day. The staff were awesome and the Skipper had a wicked sense of humour. Do not hesitate to go with Cruise Milford Sound, great adventures come on smaller boats.

It's even good when the weather's nice

Peter_G, Mar 2026
Milford Sound is beautiful regardless of the weather. If it's raining, you get more waterfalls; if it's sunny, you get more sky. For our trip, it was sunny, but Lady Bowen Falls (162m) and Stirling Falls (141m) are two permanent waterfalls that you're sure to see regardless. And, since it was sunny today, we only had a dozen or so of those spontaneous ones (still not bad!) Captain drove our fairly small tour boat right into the mist of the Lady Bowen Falls, so we could fully experience it. Our boat was a perfect size (smaller than many), so you had the opportunity to take pictures from everywhere.

This is a smaller boat so not too crowded. Plenty of room inside and out. Friendly staff and Great commentary by the Captain.

A must experience on Milford sound

Roy_B, Mar 2026
Boat leaves right on time and the captain tries to get you right up close to all the sights. Highly recommended

Love the small boat with fewer passengers. Everyone was able to see the spectacular views. Will return to see again.

Tamara_C, Mar 2026
Loved the smaller boat. The indoor seating was quite comfortable and the outdoor spaces were convenient for viewing. (The left side has the better views since it’s closest to the waterfalls)

Beautiful cruise through fjords.

Sharon_R, Mar 2026
This area was one of the highlights of my trip. First off the road to Milford Sound was just as good as the cruise. Start early and take your time on it. The cruise itself was lovely with a spot for everyone to get a good view outside. Glad I chose a smaller boat with fewer people. It was sunny when we went. Got a chance to see many waterfalls and some seals. The car park is pricey at $10 NZD per hour. It’s also a 10min walk away. Make sure you get there earlier to account for that. The boat leaves on time. After your cruise there’s some food at a cafe near the car park.

The area has a beauty even when it is cloudy and foggy. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would return.

Fabulous

Ruth_C, Mar 2026
Amazing experience, have warm clothes and spray jacket and hat and if get a chance do all the side road stops on the way back, these were certainly highlights eg. Waterfalls and only 5 mins away

Excellent venue

Margaret_D, Mar 2026
This was a small tour operator which we like to support! The captain was very knowledgeable, funny, a most enjoyable day. Would highly recommend this operator and say it was very well run.

Ours was in the rain and was a fantastic wet experience. Bring your rain gear and enjoy it. Lots of amazing waterfalls.

Perfect amount of time to see Milford sound. The guide was knowledgeable. Managed to see seals and a dolphin. Great day out

Must Do

Jason, Mar 2026
Amazing experience, cruising through Milford Sound is an absolute must do. Milford Cruise had a smaller boat which I think really added to the enjoyment.

Great day in Milford Sound

Matthew_C, Mar 2026
Yes we had the "bad" luck of having sunny weather so less waterfalls but it was still a fantastic trip. Gorgeous.

Randee_E, Mar 2026
It was a beautiful experience. They did a great job, but honestly, I think anyone you choose to use there would also be fine. Would note that you do pay an additional $10 per hour parking, so budget for that also.

Great cruise, beautiful scenery

James_D, Mar 2026
We arrived at Milford Sound early and were able to get on an earlier boat. We were lucky with weather and enjoyed a beautiful cruise, great captain who provided a fun and interesting commentary. Highly recommend!

Nindali_L, Feb 2026
Great vessel to get to experience everything outdoors and get a little more close and personal with nature

Highly recommended

Maria_O, Feb 2026
Arrive early as road can be busy. Great way to experience the Sound. Beautiful sights. Little to do at the Transport hub itself, only vending machines available. There’s a cafe near the paid car park 10 mins away. Wear insect repellent as sand flies are numerous.

Wonderful Queenstown stay!

Clyde_A, Feb 2026
Wonderful modern home close to downtown. Modern two bedroom with all the conveniences. You not regret staying in this home!

Boutique cruise is the way to go!

Steve_B, Feb 2026
Excellent experience! A smaller vessel is definitely the way to cruise Milford Sound. It did not feel crowded and we were able to get right up to the waterfalls.

Great

Timothy_Y, Feb 2026
Comfortable boat and knowledgeable, cosy boat crew! Definitely recommend this one over the others. It gets up close to the waterfalls, and we saw two seals very close to the boat

Milford Sound—non tour group size!

Rob_C, Feb 2026
We appreciated the smaller size of the boat and the resulting smaller amount of people. The larger boats cater to tour groups, something we were determined to avoid. It was very easy to get around. We had good weather and saw a school of dolphins. We get a number of our questions answered by Lucky(?) who really improved out enjoyment.

Loved it!

Jason_B, Feb 2026
It was incredibly beautiful and not overcrowded like some larger boats. We saw dolphins, seals, and multiple waterfalls. The crew was great!

Superb short voyage on Milford Sound

Krzysztof_B, Feb 2026
Fabulous trip. Excellent commentary from the skipper throughout. Small boat has the advantage of being able to go closer to the edges of the Sound to allow close up views of waterfalls, rocks and wildlife. Skipper ensured the boat turned about so that everyone got a chance to photograph at close quarters. We loved this trip and highly recommend it.

Great cruise, beautiful...

Rhoda_T, Feb 2026
Great cruise, beautiful surroundings. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is we couldn’t hear the commentary over the engine noise, so felt we’d missed out on information about what we were seeing. A leaflet giving the info might have been useful in the circs
