Little Beach Tours and Tickets

Little Beach is part of Makena State Park, which has entrance and parking fees. Parking is US$10, and the entrance fee is US$5 per person. These fees are waived for residents of Hawaii (with state ID) and children under 3 years old.

Part of Makena State Park on Maui's south side, just south of Wailea, Little Beach is adjacent to the popular Big Beach, and they share the same parking lot. It’s a longer walk and a bit of a scramble to get to Little Beach, so it’s slightly more secluded; if you’re looking for an easier option, Big Beach might be best.

Park at the first lot for Big Beach (also known as Makena Beach and Oneloa) and walk north (right) to the end of Big Beach, where you'll find a rocky path to Little Beach. Don't pack too much, as you'll want to have your hands free for the rocky scramble at the end. The beach is in the shade of a small cinder cone volcano.

While there are facilities within the state park, they’re not located right at Little Beach. The closest parking lot is at Big Beach next door, which is also where you'll find the nearest restrooms. Food vendors can often be found at Big Beach as well.

No, Little Beach is not particularly suitable for families with children, as it has been known as a clothing-optional beach. In addition, swimming conditions at Little Beach are not ideal for kids. Your best bet when visiting with children is to go to Big Beach instead, which is staffed with lifeguards and has restrooms.

Little Beach is lovely most of the year, so the best time to visit depends on what you’re looking for. The shoulder seasons of April–June and September–October tend to offer the best balance between good weather and mellower crowds. In the summer and winter, you'll have to contend with larger crowds and busy restaurants and excursions.
