What are people saying about St. Peter's Basilica

Excellent experience overall. Recommend
Overall this was an excellent tour. A whole lot of information to share regarding the Vatican, The Sistene Chapel, and St Peters Basilica. The crowd was extremely heavy at our 2:45pm tour time. Claire did an admirable job of navigating the traffic and entry process. She possessed a great breadth of historical knowledge.

The tour is very long and crowded! You spend most of your time in the museum, maybe 10-15 minutes in the Sistine Chapel with wall to wall visitors. St. Peter’s Basilica is awe inspiring but, once again, wall to wall people. Our guide Nicoli was wonderful and helped make the tour pleasant. He was very knowledgeable and funny.

Vatican City Tour
The tour was excellent and the tour guide Eleanor was great. She was very knowledgeable and spoke non stop for three hours. Three hour tour is long when it is very hot weather but you don’t want to miss the Vatican, Sistene Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica.

Vatican Museum St Peter’s Basilica and Sistine Chapel
Our guide Norman was very patient and informative with his knowledge of Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel & St Peter’s Basilica. Leonardo Da Vinci was amazing artist and sculptor. Respect. Lots of walking however expected. Would highly recommend 😄

Vatican City
St. Peter's Basilica on a sunny day, Rome
  • Be prepared for security lines similar to those at airports, including metal detectors, bag scanners, and potentially long waits.

  • This is one of the most popular attractions in all of Italy, so crowds are nearly inevitable.

  • The Basilica of St. Peter has a strict dress code—no bare shoulders, midriffs, or knees—and you won't be allowed in unless you adhere to it.

  • A skip-the-line tour of the Vatican Museums that includes St. Peter's enables you to bypass the basilica's long entry lines; you still have to go through the security check.

  • Climbing the dome atop the Basilica to take in the fantastic views over St. Peter's Square, requires a ticket.
