Itinerary
This small-group day trip to St. Andrews starts in central Edinburgh, where you’re picked up in the personalized comfort of a top-of-the-range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach. Your guide narrates and makes plenty of stops, allowing for more intimate knowledge at each Scotland destination.
Traversing the Forth Road Bridge over the Firth of Forth, you’re treated to views of the Forth Rail Bridge, a cantilever railway bridge and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter the peninsular Kingdom of Fife, surrounded by the Firth of Tay and the North Sea, and listen to anecdotes about the photogenic coastal villages of East Neuk.
Make a stop in the harbor-side town of Anstruther before descending upon St. Andrews, a medieval town and 1,000-year-old capital of the Scottish Church. You have free time to stroll around the University of St. Andrews—attended by Prince William and the country’s oldest university—and see where golf is played at the Old Course.
On the return drive to Edinburgh, head to Falkland, a village dominated by the imposing Falkland Palace once belonging to Scotland’s royal family. Cross the Lomond Hills and see where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned at Loch Leven.

This tour was absolutely fabulous! The scenery was stunning—from the charming fishing villages of Fife to the historic beauty of St. Andrews. Our guide, Dave, was amazing! He was knowledgeable, funny, and made the day so enjoyable with great stories and local insights. Everything ran smoothly and felt perfectly paced. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Scotland—ask for Dave if you can!

This truly was an incredible experience!! I only needed more time lol because we loved it soooooo much !! I brought my son on this trip with me bc he loves golf . We loved the time to walk the course, driving range etc on our own . Also enjoyed the town itself and all it offers . The other towns we stopped were such a bonus as well !!! Our tour guide, Shaunwas amazing and made the trip just over the top with his knowledge, humor , and overall enthusiasm!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

This was a lovely way to see St. Andrew’s and the countryside. 3 hours in the town was enough to shop, see the golf course, ruins and grab a pint. Our driver Rachel was very fun. I would recommend.

St Andrew’s and the towns we visited were very nice and happy we had the opportunity to visit. However, I feel if we had a better tour guide it would have been a more informative ride. His manor was different than what I am used to with Viator.

This is a poorly organized day trip. For one thing, there is no guide, just the driver. Yes, he tries, while driving on both freeways and narrow roads, to tell us some facts and stories about the areas. But a) hard to do that and concentrate on driving safely, and b) he ( at least or youngish driver) had an accent and mumbled/slurred his words.
Trip itself is disorganized; you stop for 45 minutes at various towns, with no information other than to walk up and down, maybe shop. Also no thought to bathrooms. When finally in St. Andrews, you set off to lunch, again no leader or really anyone to tell you much. The driver tries, but not very hard. A definite pass.

St Andrew’s has some interesting ruins that are neat to explore and photograph. There was adequate time at the other locations

Plenty of time to look around, Andrew was knowledgeable and funny. Exhibits and shops were a good time. We ate at the clubhouse... delicious. Walk by the seaside was beautiful!

Andrew was a great story teller
Dress in layers in case it gets hot on the bus.
Take time to do the Falkland house and garden tour
Charlotte_L, Aug 2026

Outstanding tour. We'll worth it. Our driver, Steve was knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommended.

The travel to a small seaside town did not offer much, views were not good, nor was there much to do in the time provided.
St. Andrew’s was great and would have liked more time there.
The castle was another castle after visiting others in Ireland before hand.
Our guide was nice and friendly but for our first time in Edinburgh and Scotland I would have liked more history. The guide was a good story teller that included mostly fiction. Our guide played a lot of music that was influenced by the locations we visited which was different. But again I was looking for more stories of history since there is so much history here.

An excellent tour; we found Fife and St Andrew very enjoyable. our driver/guide gave us all the info we would want and made it all pleasant \
Tracy_L, Jul 2026
Stephen is such a great storyteller and a fantastic guide! We had a lovely day and saw some of the most beautiful scenery of our trip on this drive. Both small villages we visited were lovely and we enjoyed walking around St Andrews too!

Great day trip - learn a lot thru the drive and then have downtime to explore at the three stops - loved having three hours to really see St Andrew’s. Enough to really explore the ruins, see the cute town, walk on the beach and have a lovely lunch at the Clubhouse overlooking the famous golf course. Our guide Allie was wonderful!
Greta_S, Jul 2026
Very nice trip. Loved St. Andrews. Wish we had more time there. We could have skipped the last little town and spent more time at St. Andrews shopping and dining

Alex D was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable. If you can get him as your guide, you will not be disappointed. He was very entertaining and kept us on schedule. Music selection was also perfect with scenery.
Claudia_S, Jul 2026
It was a beautiful trip, but one passenger monopolized our tour guide while we were traveling. She insisted on sitting in the front seat beside the driver. He had difficulty sharing information with the other passengers.
Nancy_K, Jul 2026
Great day! Brian’s wit, knowledge and entertaining Fife playlist created a fun experience. Stops allowed glimpse of fishing village culture. St Andrew’s was AMAZING.
