Upon arrival at Edinburgh Castle, use your prebooked ticket to enter. Your guide leads you around the sprawling grounds and provides more details about such notable features as the castle dungeons and Crown Jewels, as well as what to look out for inside.

- Although much of the tour is done inside the castle complex, this will not be under cover.
- Bags over 30L in volume are not permitted inside the castle and the castle does not provide a locker system for the storage of luggage.

- Tour DOES NOT MEET AT THE CASTLE, the tour begins from our start point at 192 High Street, by the statue of Adam Smith
- Near public transportation
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Please Note - Children, aged 15 and under, will not be able to join the tour unless accompanied by a responsible adult
- Edinburgh Castle is built on top of the core of an old volcano, the ground is often uneven and at times steep. Be prepared to be on your feet for the full duration of the tour. People with mobility issues may not get the most from this tour.

Lovely guy Graeme doing the tour and very tall which was advantageous! Very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. The castle was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Leave plenty of time to go into all the inside features of this amazing castle.

Had a lovely tour with out guide Iwan.lots of fun historical facts about the castle. It was terribly cold and snowy but managed to survive well with the beauty of the castle and its linked stories. We had a our look at the museum after a very nuch needed coffee and cake at its cafe.

Really enjoyed the guided tour of the castle grounds. Ben was great and was very friendly with the group. He also provided a good history of the castle, which also added to the tour.
The ability to walk the grounds after his tour added more to this experience. Would use recommend for sure!

After some confusion meeting our originally scheduled guide, we were easily able to tour with a different group. Very friendly and accommodating staff. And the tour guide brought castle life! Would recommend for anyone visiting the castle. Pro tip: make sure you leave lots of time after the tour to explore on your own! The War museum is particularly interesting.

Our tour guide Graham was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on our castle tour. Whilst the tour was only 90 minutes we learned a great deal about the various castle areas, then on completion of the tour we were able to spend more time looking around the many different parts of the castle.

The tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Coffe was very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the castle. He made the tour very interesting by including small jokes and descriptions of what the history would have looked like, which is something I vastly prefer over reading a hundred history clips in museum exhibits. During our tour it started pouring rain and he offered his umbrella to me which was very sweet. The tour is all outside since they’re not allowed to guide groups through the building, but we were set loose in the castle and were free to wander and explore each building independently after the tour concluded. Coffe told us about what each building held and offered recommendations which were spot on. My husband and I loved the experience and would recommend it 100%!

Had a great time with the guide! Was a little rainy, but we came prepared and the guide kept our spirits high! It was very interesting learning about the timeline of the castle, and the guide was good at pointing out the different areas/museums within the castle and what they were each like, so that when we were set free we had an idea of which ones we’d personally enjoy!

I’ve lived in Scotland all my life and have visited Edinburgh Castle a few times before, so I didn’t think a guided tour would add much to the experience. How wrong I was!
This was my first guided tour of the castle, and I learned so much more than I ever expected. Our guide, Ewan, was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history to life in such an engaging and enjoyable way. His passion and depth of understanding really impressed me.
It turned into a fantastic day out with my sister, and I would highly recommend the guided tour to anyone — even if you think you already know the castle well. It truly makes all the difference.
