Max was an enjoyable guy. He makes the history of the castle so interesting. He was very cheerful and enthusiastic. One of the best tour guides. We were lucky to have him as our tour guide. I wished we would walk back with him. He’s a tour guide we recommend.👍
The above review was written by my twin 10 year boys as they wanted to write their review for Max. As a family we enjoyed the tour and there were plenty of opportunities for photos. Max was indeed an awesome guide! 😀

The tour was great. Koffe was our guide and was very knowledgeable about the castle and the history of scotland. Expect crowds and steepish climbs up and down hills on cobblestone roads.

Big G was an amazing guide with all the best stories. The tour was fabulous and just enough to peak my interest to stay and explore the rest of the castle. Our guide definitely made it 5 star.

I have been on many guided tours all over the world but are tour guide KOFFE was on a different level, his knowledge of Edinburgh Castle and its History was outstanding.
He interacted with each and every one of us in his group.
( Thanks to the Banbridge man KOFFE )

Fantastic tour! We had Jess as our tour guide and she was absolutely the best! Great story teller and very knowledgeable! She made visiting the castle not only into a site seeing experience, but also an enjoyable and humorous history lesson. Definitely recommend!!!

Our guide Koffe was excellent! Very engaging in the way he presented the long and bloody history of Scotland. Highly recommended!
PRISCILLA_W, May 2026
Super interesting, and fun, condensed version of complicated Scottish history. Our guide Ben was superb! Individual tickets were sold out, this tour got us into the castle and was very entertaining.

It was super busy during our trip but our guide Jess was amazing and had the best stories and she really knew her history. We had a great time on this tour. Bring some comfortable shoes and be ready for leg day because these hills are serious!

Max was extremely well informed and enthusiastic. He has a background in Scottish history. His accounts were lively and interactive.
Would recommend him and his company for a tour of Edinburgh Castle.

Max was great as a guide. Made the tour for us! His passion for Scottish history made it much more enjoyable.

Our guide Steph with Little Fish Tours was funny, informative and overall amazing. The only negative is that the “guided” part was short. Shortly after we arrived inside the castle walls we were pretty much on our own.
Maria_C, May 2026
Our guide was knowledgeable and witty making this experience enjoyable and fun. We learned interesting facts about the most important items on the visit. Loved it.
Barb_J, May 2026
Our tour guide Ben had an excellent knowledge of Edinburgh Castle and the history of it. He was enthusiastic and engaging always ensuring that our group was together before explaining what we were seeing.

Steph was a very informative, interesting and fun guide for this tour. It was great to hear about the history of the area & castle.
John_H, May 2026
A very good tour and interesting location. Bags of history. Learned a lot.
Guide (Max) was somewhat annoying and didn’t allow time for older people to catch up before staring his next presentation. His dialogue was a little muffled by his strange accent (not Scottish or English. Mongrel!)
We didn’t actually care that you could see his house from the vantage point!

Georgie was an amazing tour guide. She was knowledgeable, friendly and funny. My family loved the tour and we would recommend this one with Georgie without hesitation.

Max is a great guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the castle. He delivers tons of information in an entertaining way. Even if we can’t remember half of the facts, we will remember the experience as being wonderful. Definitely recommend this tour!

Would highly recommend the tour of the castle with Viator especially if you are lucky enough to have Ben as your tour guide.
He gave us a very warm welcome and was a breath of fresh air.
He was articulate, passionate and very humorous.
He was very understanding with those people with mobility issues and put them at ease.
The terrain was a bit steep at times and he made sure everybody was ok.
We learnt alot from him that day and would definitely like to do the tour again.
Well worth the money.
Thanks Ben and Viator.

Eaun was our guide, he was entertaining and shared good history of the castle. 90 minutes was appropriate and you can stay after to spend your own time investigating.

Being an Icelander I had no Idea what to expect from the castle but knew I would like it since our heritage connect through vikings blood. This was so great and being on a after lunch tour with Naomi that started at 2.00 made it so much eazier to run quickly through the best museums because she burns for the history so I didn.t have to read all the story as I passed them one after the other. I was mostly sad because I wanted to soak myself in the best stuff as quickly as possible so that I could sit down and drink coffee with the good view. Well... by the time I finished which was 16: 45 the coffee house had closed. I almost lost tears to miss that. But I so loved it over there and I will deffinetly come back later and that time I will come just for the coffee and catch up on some more historical wisdom from Naomi.
