Hit the highlights of the...
Hit the highlights of the graveyard and the vaults. Fun and engaging guide -Stewart was great. Was happy to get an actual Scot for the tour bc I’ve had some others that were not (other companies).
Sometimes in crowds it was hard to see the guide when walking from one point to another so an umbrella or some sort of thing to stick in the air would have been helpful.

Fun for an hour
The tour is a fun hour or so. The guide (Tommy Terror), was great, full of information, stories and bad puns! The bus was full, so if you all want to sit together we suggest you get in the queue early. We noticed some people just turned at the start time and hadn’t booked, which was fine as they had space, but we would strongly recommend booking in advance.

Nick is the best storyteller!
I honestly thought the tour might be a bit cheesy when I first booked it but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. Nick was our guide and he was without a doubt the best tour guide I have ever had. He was very expressive and the most wonderful storyteller, it was clear he actually wanted us to enjoy our time on the tour. It was a beautiful walk around the city and I learned a lot. I could not recommend it enough! Thank you Nick!!

Surprising (in many ways) one of the most fun things we did
This surprisingly became a highlight of our trip. We thought we were just going to get a walk around and told what things were haunted and why…. No our tour guide started with a detailed explanation of all the torture methods of the time. Led us deep into the vaults added a few jumpscares in (nothing crazy the kids in our group had a good laugh) and really immersed us into the history of the vaults. We added this tours as a last minutes something to do later in the day, but after our 7 days of travel it is still one of the most fun things we did.

Engaging tour.
Engaging, atmospheric, and genuinely interesting. The guide brought Edinburgh’s witch history and the underground vaults to life without making it feel overly theatrical. As someone with a personal connection to the witch-trial history of Vardø in Norway, parts of the tour were unexpectedly moving for me. I learned a lot and would absolutely recommend it.

We had a blast on this...
We had a blast on this tour. James Douglas is hilarious. He peppered the tour with both facts and humor…even bringing in complete strangers on the street into his performance. The tour does involve a steep spiral stone staircase and the underground tunnels may cause problems for the claustrophobic. Highly recommend this tour and James specifically…if you get him make sure to tell him you need a gun or a dog.

Great Tour, Chill Guide
Tour guide who kinda looked like Tim Burton was super chill & very informative! He said he started doing tours a week or so ago but he did a fantastic job. We liked his attitude and he gave great recommendations for activities after the tour concluded.

James was a very entertaining and enthusiastic guide
Lots of very interesting information about Edinburghs history and shady past. The guide, James, was well informed, enthusiastic, and full of passion. It was a worthwhile excursion.
Please be aware there is a very high step to get into the building. Maybe they could invest in a stepping block. And it is dark and wet inside so something to be aware of with any visual impairment. Strong smell of dampness, to be expected, but again for those who get sensory overload it’s something to take into consideration
This is a great way to spend an hour if you like history, and fun facts. Thanks, James.

Underworld stories under the City
The vaults are super spooky and dark—Alistar was an excellent guide—the location paired with the stories scared my young teen daughter (who was nonplussed by New Orleans ghost tours). Alistar was attuned to her fears and offered to lead her (and us) out of the vaults early —she stuck it out given the safety in numbers. Glad she did because this was the one thing she asked to do in Edinburgh! The tour was well worth the time and money!

Our group had a free...
Our group had a free evening during our private tour around Scotland, and we decided that learning about the dark past of Edinburgh was the best way to fill that time! We all absolutely loved the tour and our guide was phenomenal - great blend of history, storytelling, and humor. Highly recommend this tour!

Great tour of times gone by…
This was a great mix of history with a twinge of spooky…but not too spooky. If you are traveling on a potentially raining day come prepared, although underground is on the itinerary you’ll be outside on the Edinburgh streets and a cemetery as well. Sarah was a great host!!

Unique, Historical and Great experience
First off, our tour guide Linda was amazing, her knowledge unsurpassed but presented in such a way you could see and feel the history. This is a most unique tour giving a sense of Edinburgh you can’t obtain any other way. We were so impressed with the tour that we turned around and booked another Mercat the same day.
