I honestly thought the tour might be a bit cheesy when I first booked it but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. Nick was our guide and he was without a doubt the best tour guide I have ever had. He was very expressive and the most wonderful storyteller, it was clear he actually wanted us to enjoy our time on the tour. It was a beautiful walk around the city and I learned a lot. I could not recommend it enough! Thank you Nick!!

G was absolutely great! He was funny, informative, and made the trip entertaining! He told stories that kept our interest and some stories we had no idea about!

It is worth to have a tour with Charles. He shared with us a lot of very exciting stories. He was friendly and caring.

It was beyond our expectations- our guide was a fantastic storyteller- the walk was memorable- discovering lanes and alleys of Edinburgh with historical anecdotes. The murder and mystery stories were engaging and thought provoking too. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the walk.

It was great, a little hard to understand the English over a thick accent, but overall it was ok. We did have to leave the group a little early so didn’t get the full experience

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Edinburgh. Charles was a fantastic guide, would highly recommend.

So it’s not a ghost tour, more of a death tour. But it’s a fabulously entertaining way to learn about the history of Edinburgh. Nick was our tour guide and he has a talent for bringing these ancient stories to life. Murder, scandal, tyranny, tragedy, and it sets you up well to go to the surgical museum and Edinburgh castle with a sound foundation to fully appreciate the city. Thanks Nick!!

Very interesting and fun tour about the historic dark side of Edinburgh. Sonia was fantastic guide who made the whole experience fun.

While I enjoyed the stories, this was not a ghost tour in any way. It was basically a tour about various murders that have happened throughout time within Edinburgh.

Ignes was a wonderful guide. He was very accommodating to our family - 4 senior adults, a 1.5yr old, and myself who is pregnant.
We learned a lot about Edinburgh history. Tour wasn’t spooky but honest to history.

Joe was an absolutely amazing storyteller and guide! He had us hooked from the moment he started speaking until the end of his spooky tour. His knowledge, humor and ability to share the craziest historical details was unmatched. If you’re in Edinburgh you MUST do this tour!!!

The tour will start on time, so being a few minutes early is great. Our guide knew her stuff! It was obvious that she did her research on the history of our area, and she was engaging and enthusiastic. This is not really a tour best suited for young children, as the tour guide pauses to give some great info, but young kids can naturally become restless and loud, which takes away from the experience. Also, the details of this tour are real and a bit gruesome, which was fascinating for all of the adults and teens. But perhaps not ideal for young children under 12, for example. At any rate, our tour guide was fantastic at pointing this out, and also requesting that children step apart from the group for a bit with their adults as needed. I would definitely recommend this tour for adults and mature children 12 and up.

Despite the gloomy and cold weather, this was a great experience! Gavin was an excellent guide! He knew so much about the city, and he was funny. It was also a great way to meet other travelers!

Would highly recommend. She was friendly and welcoming .

Overall the tour was good and guide knowledgeable. I really struggled to understand the tour guide due to his Eastern European accent. As an English speaking person I struggled, wonder how the people that English was not their first language coped. Overall the guide was friendly and added humour to his talk , shame I could only understand snippets of the stories.

Our guide Gavin was brillant. His knowledge of Edinburgh was amazing! Sincerely recommend this tour as you learn so much about the history of Edinburgh!

Fantastic tour and Nick was an awesome and informative guide. Learned heaps…never knew where the terms ‘graveyard shift’ and ‘saved by the bell’ originated until tonight. More about the grim, gruesome and realistic history of Edinburgh than about ghosts, which was great. Thanks Nick!

Perfect tour for those who want a tour experience but not one that lasts all day. Enjoyed learning the history of Edinburgh! Niamh was great!

The tour guide was very experienced and very helpful towards my visually impaired daughter. Took time to explain lots

Excellent, informative and passionate tour guide Sonia, whose love for the subject and Edinburgh too was clear for all to see! Keep us intrigued and interested on what was a bitterly cold evening. I’d highly recommend both the tour and tour guide. Just to prove it, I’m currently on the train home reading ‘How to kill a witch’ following the tour guides recommendation 😉

The guide knows a lot but for us foreign , he speaks too fast. The visit to the cemetery needs a flashlight because can be dangerous for us in our 60,s
Natalie_G, Jan 2026
Jen was great, really informative and captivating with her storytelling and knowledge. Brought the history of Edinburgh to life. A great way to scratch the surface of Edinburgh's past
