Mark is an excellent guide who really knows Scottish history--he also gave a few recommendations for pubs and restaurants (which we tried), and those were amazing. This tour was a true highlight of our trip!

There is quite a bit of uphill walking on cobblestone streets so prepare accordingly! Our guide Ben (Campbell) was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had just a few hours in Edinburgh and were happy to have spent it on this tour.

Dress for the weather. It was a sunny day, but windy. Lots of layers. Good walking shoes. It's uphill.
AUDREY_W, Apr 2026
James was very friendly, knowledgeable, easy to understand and 2 hours is a good length of time.. I especially loved that we ended with an intro to the castle and then were left to explore on our own.

This is our first time to Edinburgh and this tour gave us a nice overview of Old Town and the castle. Our guide Graeme was extremely knowledgeable about the history of his home town and was friendly and fielded all questions. He spurred several ideas for other things we are going to do on this trip. Thank you G!

We had a wonderful tour with Mark C. He was super knowledgeable about the rich history of Scotland and most importantly had a booming voice so you could understand him even over the sound of crowds and bagpipes. We really lucked out having him as our tour guide and very much enjoyed everything about this tour.

Alasdair led a wonderful tour that gave us a great introduction to the Royal Mile and Castle, ending at the Castle. He was full of knowledge and stories and went at good pace that was easy to keep up but wasn't too slow either. Definitely recommend!
