Our kids insisted on this tour and I am glad we did it. It was totally worth the time spent and the price. They offered multiple fruits and snacks to taste - chocolate covered frozen banana, sugarcane, soursop, fresh banana, home made rum, papaya, mango, cacao fruits. We ground coffee and cocoa beans, they made hot cocoa and coffee out of it, served them to us. They also gave us handmade chocolates. Plus, lot of historical information shared on coffee and cacao.

Recommend!
A wonderful tour!
Our guide was excellent, very informative and enthusiastic. It was great to learn about the process of making chocolate and see the stages from the bean to the chocolate itself! It was also fun to be included in different processes such as the grinding of the beans.
We loved the tasting and creating of our own chocolate’s and this really made the tour stand out!
I would definitely recommend doing this tour!

A must-do for anyone who loves chocolate and coffee!
This tour is simply amazing! For the price, this experience can’t be matched. Listed as a two hour tour, the host was kind enough to extend the duration due to our deep interest in the process of making chocolate and coffee:
The tour is situated in the shop, where we got to have a hand on experience, lecture, and question/answer session wrapped together into a very informative mid-day activity. In addition to learning about the specifics of cacao and chocolate, we were able to sample cacao at the various stages of production, in addition to grinding our own cacao and coffee beans.
Lunch was provided, consisting of Casado, a traditional Costa Rican dish, paired with a delicious fruit drink. For the price, this experience and included lunch was great!
Thank you to Rosbin and his assistant, and the staff at the cafe for a great afternoon!

Loved this Tour!!
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this tour. We’re in our early 20s and honestly thought it might be a little boring at first, but it ended up being such a fun experience. We got so many samples and learned a lot of genuinely interesting information along the way.
We also got to see howler monkeys and even a sloth, which our guide said was pretty rare and special. That made the experience even more memorable. I’m so glad we decided to take this tour, and our tour guide was an absolute blast.

Education never tasted so good! Was so informative but not overwhelming. Best part we tasted what we just learned about.
Then the sloths although hard to see with the naked eye the guide's scope gave a clear view. Despite lots of rain, was a great morning.

Fantastic experience
We had an amazing time on this tour! Our guide, GiGi, was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and made the whole experience so much fun. We got to make our own chocolate bars from scratch, brew our own coffee, and I even got to be a helper during the tour. It was such a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting La Fortuna!

Great time ATVing!
We had a great time with our ATV guide Deny! He was absolutely wonderful. It was my boyfriend’s first time ATV-ING and Deny taught him the ropes. Deny took some photos of us throughout the tour, as well as some videos which we purchased at the end. We had a great time and saw many beautiful sights. The waterfall was nice and refreshing, also. So much fun! Thank you, Deny!

Delicious Tour!
This tour was super fun! All steps of the chocolate process were experiences (all to the soundtrack of howler monkeys!). My family particularly enjoyed the “design your own specialty chocolate blends!” The guides were fun and knew their stuff! Would definitely do this tour again!

All the Good Things!
This tour was really amazing! The guide went in depth with all the various processes (plants to consumption) on coffee, chocolate, and all the good stuff! Really cool to experience something inherent to Costa Rica, made the family trip more memorable! Really loved the coffee tasting at the end!

One of the best tours I’ve been on
I got so much out of this tour. I love coffee and gained new appreciation for what goes into it. Truthfully the bag I bought in the gift store is already gone and I’ve been home less than a week… I need to come back to get more. Now that I know what fresh coffee can actually taste like, flavor of the coffee is unlike anything I can buy even for a steep price in the states.
My partner used to own a coffee shop and even he learned quite a bit of new information about coffee!
We loved putting human faces to the coffee we drink and appreciated the history of the workers that was shared and the emphasis on the coop structure and economic development of the region. Really a great experience, I didn’t want to leave.

Great tour - despite a slight hiccup with our collection due to some last minute bookings, we got to the plantation in good hands, and enjoyed being shown around. The chocolate tasting and explanation of the growing and processing was great, as was the generous tastings! Also great to learn about coffee, even as a non-coffee drinkers

Great communication and a safe ride
Operator was excellent. Our flight was repeatedly delayed but we were in constant communication with the driver. Our group of ten was ushered to our drive promptly. Driver asked if we’d like to take a short cut (traffic on the main road was terribly backed up) - so we had an extra jungle adventure!

The cacao bean is a prevalent crop in Costa Rica, so this Central American country is an ideal vacation destination for sampling locally-produced chocolate. On one of these Costa Rica chocolate tours, you can learn how cacao beans are farmed and processed into a delicious sweet treat.
