If you’re in La Fortuna, this tour is an absolute must! We had such a great time on the sloth tour—our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. The coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane tour was just as amazing. It was interactive, fun, and everything we tasted was delicious. My friends and I had the best time. Sergio was a fantastic guide—fun, engaging, and passionate about what he does. Highly recommend!

Our family really enjoyed this tour with Andres. He was able to find several sloths up high in the trees. Unfortunately the sloths were not active due to the weather, so we only saw their backs as they were sleeping. We also saw toucans, a heron, snake, toads, frogs, and other animals. The coffee and chocolate tours were after the sloth tour and on the same property. They were quite informative. We got a tasting of coffee and several flavors of chocolate. Overall we had a great time. Thanks Andres!

This place should not be open when there are storms in the area.
We had to cut short the sloth experience because of lightning, with the guide telling us, “we have to go, this is not safe.”
The coffee/chocolate tour that was included was also stopped about 15 minutes into it because of a lightning strike about 5 feet away from the group. The guide again told us it was not safe & to run.
No refunds. Could only reschedule & the storms continued all after & the next day.

Both the sloth tour and the coffee/chocolate/sugar tour were fantastic! Johnny was our tour guide with the sloth tour, and he was very knowledgeable. Andres was our guide with the coffee/chocolate/sugar tour and he also was very knowledgeable and was very interactive with us. I highly recommend!

The tour guides were all super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny! We saw so many animals and learned so much I would not have on my own.
Erin_V, Jun 2026
Guides are very knowledgeable about wildlife and plants. They have telescopes to help find the sloths among the trees and are very patient with pointing them out. We don’t speak Spanish (English) - had no problem communicating in English throughout. Great way to learn about the natural habitat and see some of the natural animals.

Elias was our sloth guide and was amazing. Saw a total of 8 sloths and several other species of birds and other wildlife! Highly recommended!

The sloths are very high up- the guide brought his magnifier scope mounted on a tripod so it was easy to see them once the guide spotted them. We were very lucky to see a yearling hanging out very close to the ground. She was quite energetic and put on quite the show for us.

Education never tasted so good! Was so informative but not overwhelming. Best part we tasted what we just learned about.
Then the sloths although hard to see with the naked eye the guide's scope gave a clear view. Despite lots of rain, was a great morning.

We saw so many sloths! It was great -we never would have seen them without our guide! We also saw a parrots nest, an owl and bullet ants!
The coffee, sugar cane and chocolate tour was good, very informative, we picked up more facts than we even realized! Our guide heard a toucan calling and we went out to find him in the trees singing his heart out!! Very cool!

The sloth tour and the chocolate/coffee/sugar cane tour were both amazing! Our guides were so nice and very informative. We saw quite a few sloths and other wildlife!! The chocolate was delicious and the coffee was really nice as well! Would definitely recommend:)

An excellent tour experience overall. Ending the tour with Erick during the coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane demonstration was a highlight. He was engaging, knowledgeable, and made the experience very enjoyable. Ask for Erick The forest portion with Eli was also great and added to the adventure. Highly recommended.

Loved the whole tour! Very knowledgable! We saw sloths - even a mama moving around with her baby attached! The coffee, chocolate, and sugarcane were all delicious. You learn the whole process of each. Since the whole tour is a few hours, plan to eat beforehand so you're not antsy at the end like I was, ha ha.
Great experience in La Fortuna!

We are so glad we decided to go with a guide. We heard great things about the sloth tour and it was beyond our expectations. It’s not just sloths but all animals and plants of the area. Our guide Agustin was very knowledgeable, kind, and fun! Our kids had a blast seeing all the animals, tasting chocolate, and squeezing the sugar cane. We got great photos of all the animals with Agustin’s help with his telephoto lens. Also enjoyed going with another family with young kids. Highly recommend spending the money to have a guided tour. Pura Vida!!

So much fun! Saw 3 sloth mommas with babies and other neat creatures like a boa! The coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane was a nice bonus but the highlight was for sure the sloth watching. I would highly recommend this for families too! The guides, Isaac in particular, were great with the little boys on the tour.

This was one of our favorite tours! We were so lucky to have AugustÍn as our guide for this fantastic tour! He had the best disposition, was great with our kids, pointed out 9 sloths during the sloth tour, let us taste the skins of the cacao beans from the trees, let us each take a tour grinding fresh coffee beans, and taught us how to make sugar cane juice. We also sampled a bunch of different chocolates made on site from the cacao beans on the property. We couldn't have asked for a better tour. Or better coffee-- it was delicious! Even our kids, ages 10 and 11 enjoyed it. It really was AugustÍn, our guide, who made the tour extra special. He even went out of his way to accommodate us when we ran into a snag and had to adjust our tour plans. If you have the chance, try to get your tour with him-- you won't be disappointed!

Great experience all around! I recommend using bug spray before the tour and maybe even long pants (I ended up with a lot of ant and mosquito bites). Using a guide for the sloth walk was the best decision we could have made too! Very cool getting to see so much wildlife through a scope and being able to get such great photos!
Pat_H, Mar 2026
Our guide went out of his way to find us many sloths and other interesting things in the tour. We learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
harley_w, Mar 2026
Very fun and we saw so many sloths! If we didn’t do this tour, we would not have seen as many sloths on our trip. The guide was very great at pointing them out and sharing facts. The coffee and chocolate tour was phenomenal as well! We definitely enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend.
Lindsay_Z, Mar 2026
This was a great combination! We saw lots of sloths and birds and the guide was very knowledgeable. The coffee, chocolate, and sugarcane were delicious and shared with good conversation. Conveniently located and worth a visit.
Lynn_G, Mar 2026
Learned a lot. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Answered all our questions and helped me with my spanish.
Nisha_K, Mar 2026
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour in La Fortuna. It was a morning well spent. From spotting 9 to 10 Sloths in a protected habitat to learning about coffee and chocolate making. Great experience overall.
The group sizes were small. Guides were patient and professional, including our 5 year old in all activities.
Booking process was easy and communication prompt.
Would definitely recommend to others.

While our tour was in the rain, it was still great. We saw many sloths, even one giving birth. The coffee, sugar, and chocolate tour was good, just a little long. We ended up in the dark.
Irina_P, Feb 2026
We have started our tour with a Coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane tasting. Our tour guide complained about what he was exhausted and tired and the entire your was boring and not exciting. The second part of the tour was south watching our tour guide was very experienced and we had lots of fun. We have been able to see sloth and a lot of different species of jungle life. I think we had more enthusiastic thirst tour guide the out tour would be magnificent.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Hola Irina,
Thank you for your feedback! Would you please let us know the name of the guide that was complaining? Maybe will be a good idea to give him a few days off to recharge :)
Jajaida_G, Feb 2026
It was fantastic and the guide Augustine took his time to ensure we saw everything. He was the best at spotting each sloth and really wanted us to enjoy the experiences

Sloth guide Isaac was fantastic! The coffee and chocolate tour guide was good but tour itself was a lot of information. Very little coffee consumed. Chocolate was a little bit more.
Antonia_P, Feb 2026
Guides are great and educating. At the beginning of trip I couldn’t spot the animals way up in the trees but about halfway through, I was spotting them with the naked eye! But they do bring a telescope to look through. The coffee and chocolate was delicious. I wish they had a large enough operation to sell their chocolate! But they have very good brands in the gift shop.
Andrea_B, Feb 2026
The sloth guides are great at spotting all kinds of critters and help you take pictures through the telescope. Coffee chocolate and sugar part are educational and fun but did take sometime.
Sara_D, Feb 2026
Amazing... Great Experice Learned so much and you see and taste so much.. Full of Knowledge and Great Insights...
Celina_A, Jan 2026
We had a really fun combo tour! Both our guides were super friendly and we enjoyed both tours which was amazing!
Mercedes_S, Jan 2026
Sloth experience was wonderful, our guide Johnny was knowledgeable and had a good eye. We got lucky and had a very active day. Seen 5-6 sloths with most of them moving/active!
The coffee, chocolate and sugar cane tour had potential. We had a guide that didn’t have the best English so we didn’t feel like we quite understood everything he was trying to tell us. We asked lots of questions and got the jist. I feel he didn’t want to try to explain things due to the language barrier, which fair, but it’s a paid tour with an English speaking guide.
Over all not a bad experience.
