This was an extremely interesting experience. The presentation was very informative, the tasting of the coffee & chocolate was fantastic. We had a party of eight at the 11:30 time slot and they served us a traditional Costa Rican lunch.. I would suggest booking directly with Simbiosos Cafe to insure proper booking. Excellent value and true Costa Rican hospitality.

Really enjoyed this very informative guide to coffee and cacao production in Costa Rica. Rosbin is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his subject and we learned a lot. Loved getting hands on with the processes and sampling the different products - we bought loads to bring home with us! And the lunch provided by Rosbin's wife was first class. Really lovely people and a brilliant experience

Rosbin taught us so much during our time with him from the history of cacao beans to the “Banana Split” diet of his cows. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about the coffee and chocolate industry and was able to answer every question we threw at him. Education combined with tasty samples and a wonderful meal makes for a day well spent. I highly recommend this to anyone in the Playas Del Coco area.

You don’t actually go anywhere. It all takes place behind the Bistro. Food was yummy. We learned a lot. Recommend for adults and those who have limited mobility.

It was very informative! We saw coffee and cacao plants, got to know the origin and difference of species of coffee and cacao processes. The best part of the tour was the tasting and smelling of everything :) we got to grind coffee and also drank hot cacao from our ground cacao beans. The host was very friendly and answered my every question. Afrer the tour we got to eat local dish for lunch. Now when buying coffee or cacao we are more conscious. Thank you very much!

This is an educational experience. We sat in a room surrounded by exhibits samples, and all the equipment for converting beans to coffee and chocolate. You will get to touch and taste at each step in the process. In the photos, you’ll see pictures of us roasting chocolate on a traditional plate, husking the beans, grinding to make the chocolate paste, and the hot chocolate we got to taste. There is so much more, but I don’t want to give it away :-) We wrapped up with a traditional breakfast at the Simbiosis Bistro. Most of the time we were in the air conditioned room, or on the porch under the giant almond tree, making it comfortable on a hot day. It would also be well suited to a rainy day. Kids ight get bored.

Fabulous, informative and oh so tasty. Samples of drinking coffee and hot cocoa. Shelled coffee beans, ground our beans and then sipped our ground coffee. Highly recommend. Plus a delicious breakfast was included.

Our guide was very good. He explained the steps in chocolate making very well. He made us some fresh hot chocolate. He explained the coffee process from the harvesting the beans to the roasting of them. We had an excellent lunch at the Simbiosis Bistro.

Great learning experience! Something to do when you want to have a relaxing day. The lunch was fabulous and Rugsby (hopefully I spelt that correctly) as well as the rest of the staff were an absolute delight! I just wish it was a bit more interactive. Still would recommend!

Although you don’t go to a plantation, Rosbin was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He explained the processes for cacao & coffee production. The tastings were really good and the lunch was great! I would highly recommend this experience!

Rosbin was very good at explaining the coffee & cacao making process from the history, the opening of the bean and fruit of cacao to the grinding, and brewing of coffee and hot cacao drink! Incredible aromas! Very enjoyable tour at his buisness. Food served from the Simbiosis was very good. I would take the class and tour again.

Wonderful time learning about coffee and chocolate processing and their history in Costa Rica. Less tasting than we would have preferred but we had a lovely time with the nicest couple providing the tour and sharing their love of coffee, chocolate, and their country. With the lunch and samples, definitely worth it.

I was so impressed with this coffee and chocolate tour and our host Rosbin! We were able to meet his wife at her cafe (who made "the best meal I've ever had in my life" per my daughter!) and then Rosbin personally gave the tour where you could just see his enthusiasm and passion for coffee and chocolate. He gave us a brief overview of the history (including maps). He gave a step-by-step process on seeing the cacao fruit, then the pulp of the fruit, the fermenting process, the drying process, and we toasted the cacao ourselves, ground it, and made it into a chocolate drink! We also made coffee and then our own homemade mocha! It was truly incredible. It was a unique experience and made us really appreciate all the effort that goes into our food. Plus we got the chance to hear some of Rosbin's story of how he developed the business with his wife and it was really inspiring!

The best personalized private chocolate and coffee tour in Coco beach. The owner “Rosbin” was absolutely fantastic and he explained in great detail the entire process of how coffee and chocolate is made. We opted for a local coffee tour near secrets in papagayo instead of a bus load of tourists going to a big commercial tour and we were 100 % satisfied with seeing his coffee/chocolate operation.
