What are people saying about Athens

Fabulous trip to Sounion
We had such a great time on this trip. Teddy (Theo) was a really engaging guide and was happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations for absolutely everything! The minibus was spacious and very comfortable (much better than getting a large tour bus imo). We stopped at a bar/restaurant and had a delicious (and enormous) slice of walnut pie and biscoff cheesecake whilst looking over the Aegean Sea. The temple was stunning and despite it being busy as it was the last sunset tour before the Easter weekend began it didn't feel overwhelming so. It can get chilly on the coast and the ground is uneven so I'd advise bringing a light jacket and wearing trainers!

This was perfect for what...
This was perfect for what we wanted, which basically was a trip out to Poseidon’s temple without the hassle of renting a car. As other reviewers noted, it did not stop at the lake. We also didn’t get an audio tour - there was some commentary on the way out about what we were seeing an a little bit of context on the way back but that was it. For us - it was great. The bus was comfortable and clean, we had plenty of time to eat dinner at the restaurant and then walk around and make it to the temple in time for last admission/sunset. But the description is definitely inaccurate. That being said our tour guide, George, was awesome and we got exactly what we wanted so we’re very happy. And most importantly - the temple and views are incredible and not to be missed.

Great driver and fun experience
Theo was a wonderful tour guide! He took us to many wonderful places and explained many things to us about the history of the area and the experience of the Apostle Paul when he was in Athens and Corinth. He took us to see some beautiful art in churches and we got to see the ruins of the port of Cenchrea where there is an ancient baptismal pool that was used in the 1st century. He showed us the site of the isthmian games which probably occurred while Paul was in Corinth as well as the ancient road that was used to transport boats from between the Aegean and Ionian seas before the Corinth canal was built. He took us to the ancient city ruins of Corinth where we got to see the bema of Paul and ancient marketplaces where Paul might have worked as a tent maker. He even took us up to see the view of Corinth from the acropolis above the city. As well as being a great tour guide, Theo was very nice and fun to talk with. He shared many aspects of Greek culture with us and was very kind. My only issues were with Viator, since their app doesn’t work very well. I downloaded the app, but my reservation never showed up in my account and when they sent the email confirmation when I clicked on get tickets it just said “oops, error.” I don’t know if the entrance tickets to each historic site were supposed to be included in the cost of the Viator tickets, but we ended up having to pay the entry fee at each place. Also, it would have been much nicer if the tour guide was able to come into the archeological sites to explain things. It is a little hard to figure out everything from the signs and the audio tour alone. Now that I am home I realized that I missed seeing the Erastus inscription at Corinth because I did not realize it was there and did not know where to look.

There are a couple stops...
There are a couple stops to grab refreshments. Wear sturdy boots or walking shoes, as Mycenae can be slippery if it's been raining. Our guide was great and informative including a great lunch recommendation in Nafplio. We did another tour with Ammon Express the next day based on our experience.
