What an amazing experience and if visiting Greece this should be added to your bucket list. The tour guide was awesome and very knowledgeable. Our bus drivers were amazing in driving up those mountains.
Deidre_M, Aug 2026
We had an amazing time! The monasteries were beautiful and the views were breathtaking! This was one of the highlights of our trip! Our bus driver and tour guide were both wonderful! I must admit, that the food was not great if you choose the lunch option. I highly recommend that you bring plenty of snacks, and water! It’s an extremely long day! I highly recommend this tour!
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your review. We are glad the day was smooth and enjoyable. Clement’s passion for Meteora and the monasteries truly enhances the experience. The photo stops and free time help everyone enjoy the visit at their own pace. The stairs can be challenging, but the views make it worth it. We appreciate your recommendation.
Isaiah_D, Aug 2026
The Meteora experience is one not to be missed. I picked the 14 hour tour (~4 hrs transit time each way, and 6 allowance to visit the 3 monasteries).
The bus ride was very comfortable with a half-way stop, and lunch before touring the monasteries.
The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the monasteries.
Overall it was a great experience.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your review. We’re very glad you found the Meteora experience unforgettable , the comfortable ride, clear timing, and the six hours exploring three monasteries make for a full and rewarding day. Wonderful to hear your guide’s knowledge added so much to the visit. A truly great Meteora experience.
Bronwyn_F, Aug 2026
This was a great and informative experience where our tour guide (Clement) gave an entertaining explanation about the area and the monasteries themselves, with inclusions about the geology of the area.
In addition to this, he helped when we did not have cash and enabled a stop at an ATM nearby so we could still enter the monasteries. Which also had free cover ups for those of us not covered appropriately due to the heat.
While we did have to change over busses at one stage it was an understandable requirement due to travel and providing a comfortable environment for passengers.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your wonderful review. We’re delighted you had such a great and informative experience, and that Clement’s explanations — from the monasteries to the geology — made the day engaging. It’s great to hear he helped with the ATM stop so you could still enter the monasteries, and that the free cover‑ups were useful in the heat.
The bus change is indeed part of ensuring comfort for all passengers, and we’re glad it felt understandable. A smooth and memorable Meteora experience overall.
Marian_M, Aug 2026
Great tour. It does require walking up steep stairs. However it was well worth it. Our tour guide Clement was terrific! We loved it.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted you had a great tour and felt the steep stairs were worth it. Wonderful to hear Clement made the experience terrific — he’s truly exceptional.

I’m rating this experience on the following scale: 1 = Horrible, 2 = Poor, 3 = Okay, 4 = Good, 5 = Exceptional.
Overall, I would rate this experience as good. The biggest highlight is the destination itself—Meteora is absolutely breathtaking and well worth the visit. However, there are several areas where the tour could be improved.
First, there was very little communication about what to expect throughout the day. At the beginning, we were only told that it was a four-hour drive. There was no mention of bathroom breaks (which happen approximately every two hours), the lunch stop, dinner stop or approximate time of return (10-11pm). None of this is clearly listed in the tour itinerary or description. We only knew about these stops because we had read previous reviews.
The lunch stop is right before visiting the monasteries. It’s cafeteria-style food and overall good. My partner is vegetarian and was able to find something to eat. I recommend selecting the lunch option when booking unless you plan to bring your own food. There aren’t really any other dining options nearby, so you’ll likely end up eating there anyway.
The guiding itself was the weakest part of the experience. The commentary didn’t really begin until we were close to Meteora, which was disappointing considering the many historical sites you pass on the drive from Athens. The guide is also not allowed inside the monasteries, so most of the information provided felt fairly superficial. I was hoping for more historical context and deeper explanations about the monasteries, their significance, and the events that shaped them.
The tour visits three monasteries, with approximately 30–45 minutes at each stop, which felt like a reasonable amount of time.
The final stop is dinner around 8:00 p.m., and I’m very glad I had read the reviews beforehand. My recommendation is to skip eating there if possible. Like lunch, it’s cafeteria-style, but because it’s the end of the day, the selection is limited. There are no visible prices, and the staff repeatedly encourage you to add items like salad or juice, which are not included with your main dish. It’s easy to spend much more than expected, and the sales approach felt a bit pushy. Also, don’t rely on the meal photos shown on the booking site—they don’t accurately reflect what is served.
Overall, I still recommend this tour, especially if you only have one day to visit Meteora and don’t want the hassle of driving yourself. The transportation is convenient, and the scenery is spectacular. However, if you have access to a car, you’ll have much more flexibility to visit additional monasteries, explore the surrounding area at your own pace, and stop at local wineries and other attractions.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review. We’re glad you found Meteora breathtaking and rated the experience as good, but we respectfully disagree with some points while fully appreciating your perspective.
Communication should always feel clear, and your note about timing and stops is valuable ,though bathroom breaks every two hours and the late return are standard for this route. The lunch stop is indeed the only practical option in the area, and we’re happy it worked for your partner.
Regarding guiding, commentary begins closer to Meteora because the focus of the tour is the monasteries and their history; guides cannot enter due to local rules, but we understand you wished for deeper context.
Despite these points, we’re glad you still recommend the tour for its convenience and scenery. A full but rewarding Meteora experience.
Tassos_T, Jul 2026
An amazing trip, we left Athens at 8am and we were back at 10pm, long day but very well worth it, the driver will stop every 2 hours so not bad, you don’t really feel the long drive.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your review. We’re glad the long ride felt worth it and that the regular stops made the journey easier. It’s a full day, but the views and monastery visits truly make the Meteora experience rewarding.
Matthew_C, Jul 2026
The bus ride there and back was long but well worth it. We had an awesome guide that gave us enough time at monasteries and viewpoints.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your review. We’re glad the long ride felt worth it and that your guide gave you plenty of time at the monasteries and viewpoints.

An amazing trip! Our guide, Clemment, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We visited 3 beautiful monasteries. I would definitely recommend this trip!
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you so much for your kind words. We’re delighted you had an amazing trip, enjoyed the three beautiful monasteries and appreciated Clemment’s friendly, knowledgeable guidance. A truly memorable.
Connie_K, Jul 2026
We got on the bus in Athens. No introduction by driver. Just drove for 4hours without knowing when we were stopping for a break. Great tour excellent till they stopped for dinner. It’s was a big rip off and you were forced food and drink. Little did they know I spoke Greek. They were rude to the customers. The food was shocking they wanted to charge us 56 euro for two plates of watery pasta a salad and an orange juice. I refused to pay. Terrible experience ruined a perfect day.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very glad the tour itself was excellent, but we’re truly sorry the dinner stop felt upsetting. We respectfully disagree about being “forced” , guests are always free to skip the meal. We’re happy the rest of your Meteora experience was memorable.
Kaitlyn_B, Jul 2026
Lots of fun. Food was average. But overall it was a once in a lifetime experience and we would do it again :)
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thank you for your review. We’re glad you had lots of fun and enjoyed this once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience.
Kyle_C, Jul 2026
Our guide, Clement, was great! I was glad we purchased the lunch included. Very good! The dinner choice on the return trip to Athens was quite pricey at €28. No signage of that price till you pay. We should’ve just chosen snacks and a sandwich from the convenience side at the stop. Great trip!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your review. Great to hear Clement was an excellent guide and that you enjoyed the included lunch
Nugroho_B, Jul 2026
Nice experience visiting meteora, our Guide Maria very informative and passionate about the history and culture of the monasteries, we seen 3 great monasteries, the great meteoron, unfortunately Varlaam was close on Friday. Btw, nice experience.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your comment. Great to hear you enjoyed Meteora and that Maria made the visit so informative and passionate. Visiting 3 monasteries is already a beautiful experience, even if Varlaam was closed on Friday. The views and the atmosphere are always unforgettable. Thanks for sharing your Meteora experience.
Mia_H, Jul 2026
It is a trip of a life time. Be prepared for a long bus trip but it is comfortable and you meet new people. Bring a usb cord to charge your phone. When we split into smaller groups I was lucky to get Maria. She is so passionate and amazing. I learned so much and want to recommend her highly.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your lovely review. A trip of a lifetime indeed. The long bus ride becomes easier when it’s comfortable and you meet new people along the way. Great tip about bringing a USB cord. And how lucky to be with Maria , her passion and knowledge always shine. Wonderful to hear she made your Meteora experience unforgettable.
John_G, Jul 2026
Meteora was a 5 star experience. This company…. Not so much. Too many people traveling at one time. You stop at a roadside food stop that the tour company probably owns. They scream at you if you don’t keep the food line moving. The food was some of the worst I have ever eaten. Air conditioning was a joke—one portable unit If you are going to Mereora, book a tour with a people mover—smaller number, easier to park at better quality restaurants, easier for tour guide to answer questions. Meteora was an incredible experience that you HAVE to do but do it in a different way than a huge bus being hurried along like cattle.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for sharing your thoughts , but we respectfully disagree with this review. Our groups are sized to ensure safety, access to the monasteries and compliance with local regulations.
Guests are never “hurried like cattle”, guides and drivers work hard to keep timing clear so everyone enjoys Meteora without stress. Many travellers appreciate the comfort, WiFi, charging ports and professional driving on a long route where smaller vehicles are not always allowed or practical.
We’re truly glad Meteora felt like a 5‑star wonder to you , it is. And we’re committed to making the journey match that beauty. Thank you for sharing your Meteora experience.
Chris_B, Jul 2026
An amazing day! Meteora was an amazing experience. Our guide, Clement, was perfection! The day could not have been better! His knowledge and humor made the day even better. He explained things so everyone could understand and timed the day perfectly! He even arranged for a new bus when the AC on ours wasn’t working! The monasteries are beyond words beautiful! And the scenery is mind blowing! Can’t say enough about him and the trip!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this amazing review. So happy to hear your day in Meteora was perfect. Clement truly shines , his knowledge, humor and clear explanations make every moment better, and arranging a new bus when the A/C failed shows how much he cares. The monasteries and scenery are indeed beyond words. Delighted this Meteora experience was unforgettable.
Christopher_K, Jul 2026
A tourist trap restaurant to end the trip really soured the experience.
Trip itself was great. Guide was amazing. However the company has a sweetheart deal worked out with a super predatory rest stop. They rush you through and literally make up prices customer to customer. 20+ euro for some remarkably terrible food. Left an awful taste ln my mouth and I will be fighting the charge with my card.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for sharing your thoughts , but we respectfully disagree with this review. The rest stop is not owned by our company, and prices are set by the venue, not by us. They should never “make up” prices, and your feedback is already being forwarded so the management addresses this.
Guests are not rushed; the staff simply tries to keep the line moving so everyone gets back to Meteora on time. Most travellers appreciate the comfort, professional drivers and clear organization throughout the day.
We’re truly glad you found the trip and guide amazing , Meteora is unforgettable , and we remain committed to making every part of the journey match that quality. Thank you for sharing your Meteora experience.
Catherine_M, Jul 2026
Long day, don’t expect a lot of communication from the bus driver as they have little English. They are however excellent drivers and we felt completely safe. The guide comes on board close to Meteora and was fabulous. Great experience.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your review. It’s true the day is long, and drivers often speak limited English, but they are excellent professionals and safety is always their priority. The guide joining near Meteora ensures everyone gets clear explanations and a great experience. Glad you enjoyed the tour and the beautiful Meteora visit.
Gabriel_D, Jul 2026
The guide was very helpful and exceptionally knowledgeable. He made a beautiful site even more memorable with his great insights.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your kind words. Qué alegría saber que el guía hizo un lugar tan hermoso aún más memorable con su ayuda y conocimiento excepcional. Comentarios así nos motivan a seguir ofreciendo una gran experiencia en Meteora.
Brooke_O, Jul 2026
The bus driver was fired mid tour but overall our experience was not impacted. The tour guide lived and grew up in the area and she was amazing! Food on the trip was stopping off at some cafeteria style hot bar. I had no complaints but it was a long dive, so maybe bring something to do on the bus.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. Even with the unexpected driver change, it’s great to hear the tour continued smoothly. Our guides who grew up in Meteora truly make the visit special, and we’re glad she impressed you. The cafeteria‑style stop is meant to be quick and simple, and your tip about bringing something for the long ride is very helpful. Thanks for your Meteora experience.
tania_D, Jul 2026
Amazing once in a lifetime place to visit. Its much more than the pictures can justify. Do your reading and reserach and see if you can visit from any closer city than Athens as its quite a long bus ride from Athens. The tour company made the trip very comfortable with the Mercedes bus and great stops for meals. The Guide Clement was exceptional, he knew his stuff, and was very polite, hurmourous and kept us very entertained. He was very organised and managed to give us enough time on each stop without feeling rushed. Over all Excellent value for money.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this fantastic review. Meteora truly is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime place, and we’re glad the experience exceeded what photos can show. The long ride from Athens is real, but the Mercedes bus, comfort and meal stops help a lot. Clement was exceptional as always knowledgeable, polite, humorous and perfectly organized, giving everyone time without rushing. Excellent value and a memorable Meteora experience.
Jyothi_H, Jul 2026
Our Meteora tour was a wonderful experience and definitely one of the highlights of our Greece trip. Once we arrived in Meteora, the views of the monasteries perched dramatically atop the towering rock formations were absolutely breathtaking. Our tour company was very thoughtful about making several scenic stops along the way, giving us plenty of opportunities to take beautiful photos and admire the landscape.
We were able to visit three of the six monasteries, each with its own unique history, architecture, and charm. The guide was knowledgeable and gave us time to explore and ask questions, making the experience even more enjoyable.
The only downside—which is unavoidable—is the long drive from Athens. It makes for a very full day, so be prepared if you prefer a more relaxed pace or have mobility considerations. That said, the incredible scenery and unforgettable experience made the journey well worth it.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens who wants to experience one of Greece’s most spectacular UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this beautiful review. We’re delighted that Meteora became one of the highlights of your trip. The breathtaking monasteries, the scenic stops and the guide’s knowledge truly make the long journey worthwhile. It’s a full day, yes, but the comfort of the bus and the well‑planned pace help make it enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your Meteora experience.
Charles_P, Jul 2026
Can not be done with older people that are out of shape compared to younger people.
Way to much exertion for older people.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your comment. We understand the concern, but this tour is designed with clear guidance: older guests or anyone with mobility or fitness limitations can still enjoy Meteora by choosing the panoramic bus option, which avoids strenuous walking. The monasteries and views remain accessible and truly worth seeing.
Robert_S, Jul 2026
The AC did not work in the bus. This is a 14 hour tour. It was hotter in the. Us than outside. Told the driver and he said the air was on. At 6:00pm, we were assigned a new bus with working air. The tour guide was very good, but wasn’t allowed to talk in the monasteries. Other tours had it. We were told to download an audio tour. No idea why. Never used. There are many company’s that go here. I would look elsewhere.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We fully understand your concern, but after checking with the team, the AC on that bus was working properly throughout the day, and no other guests reported any issue. We’re glad you enjoyed the guide and the visit to Meteora.
SonyaTurner, Jul 2026
Very organised trip, friendly driver and knowledgeable guide. Lunch provided was ok. Views of the monasteries were amazing and we had just the right time at each one.
Only down side was the stop at 8pm for food. Food stone cold and at 68 euro for 3 people just main course and orange juice which was just canteen food slopped on a plate it was very expensive. I would have rather motored back to Athens and eaten there. Long day arrive back about 10pm
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoyed the organisation, the views and the time spent at each monastery, and that our driver and guide made the day smooth and friendly.
Leia_F, Jun 2026
Amazing experience! Meteora is an absolute must-see and one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever visited. The scenery and monasteries are incredible, and the whole trip was very well organised. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens who has a free day. It’s a long day, but it’s 100% worth it for such a unique and unforgettable experience.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re delighted that Meteora felt like a must‑see for you its scenery and monasteries truly create an unforgettable experience. We’re also glad the organisation of the trip made the long day feel worthwhile. Thank you for sharing your Meteora experience.
Darrell_A, Jun 2026
Enjoyed getting to view and go inside several of the Monasteries. Felt hurried a bit but they are so far from Athens the single day is a long one. Knowledgeable guide and good bus drivers. The lunch included was good and adequate stops for breaks. Is was a highlight of our vacation
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your kind review. We’re glad you enjoyed visiting several monasteries and that the guide and drivers made the long day smooth. It can feel a bit rushed at times, simply because Meteora is far from Athens, but we’re happy the pacing still worked well for you. Great to hear the lunch and breaks were good too. Thank you for sharing your Meteora experience.

This trip was an amazing experience and should be in the bucket list of every traveller to Greece.
The guide was the best part of this trip which made the experience very enjoyable.
Margie_C, Jun 2026
Our guide Maria was excellent- as was our driver. Both did everything in their power to ensure our comfort and safety-Maria’s knowledge and experience is a real bonus - Wear comfortable non slip shoes - if you are not comfortable with stairs make sure at least, that St Stephen’s is open
Nancy_S, Jun 2026
Lots of stairs, but worth every step.
