Amazing Perspective on Ancient Greece

Vasanthi_V, Mar 2026
Awesome trip! Amazing views from the acropolis at Mycenae, Napflio was charming, Epidaurus inspiring. Guides were informative , charming and personable. Minus one star because tickets were not included — would rather have spent the time in the museums and archaeological sites than in line.

Fabulous!

Julia was a delightful tour guide! The general experience was expertly managed from stop to stop and gave us great insight into each location. The tour guides for the specific locations, Natalie and Happy, were so informative and really made you put the artifacts you are seeing into context. Julia ensured we had great context going in to each site with wonderful recommendations. I'd highly recommend this tour. Our driver was great as well. Worth the money 100%.

Excellent tour of four wonderful locations that should not be missed!!

This is an excellent tour with an exceptional tour guide. Transportation was wonderful and the itinerary was perfect. Mycenae, Epidauras, Corinth Canal and Naplio should not be missed on your trip to Greece.

Wonderful trip to the Peloponnese area.

Paul_W, Oct 2025
Often the amount of time at a stop was insufficient, especially the stop for lunch. The local guides were knowledgeable but sometimes went into more detail than needed. The minibus was comfortable and the tour leader and driver were competent.

Mycanae Trip

Doug_R, Oct 2025
A lot of historical sites. Nafpolio was ver beautiful. Mycanae interesting. A long day. Tour guide knowledgable.

We strongly recommend it.

Mireia_L, Aug 2025
The tour was a very nice experience. Our guide Despoina (Debby) was excellent. She gave us many interesting facts about history and mythology and was fun. Patty, our guide in the aecheolpogical sites, was also knowledgeable and kind. Our driver Andy drove us smoothly in a very confortable van. We recommend this tour for families. Everthing was on time.

A very nice day. I enjoyed seeing the unusual beehive tomb at Mycenae and the theater at Epidaurus is beautiful. Our tour company was well organized, even picked us up at our location. Very nice guides and driver. Learned a lot of interesting things about the early Greeks. Only negative was that we didn't have enough time at our stop at Nafpio, we were rushed to get lunch and had no time to site see the beautiful town.

Excellent trip

Emma_S, Jun 2025
Fantastic day. All the stops were interesting and George gave us a great tip for where to have seafood for lunch, it was delicious! It was very hot, but the minibus was well air conditioned and there was plenty of cold water available for us. Thank you

Great guide! Average tour.

ERIC_E, Jun 2025
There is a LOT of cool things to see in Greece. This one was just OK in comparison. We had an excellent guide who spoke perfect English. But the tour cost (plus entrance tickets and lunch) was very expensive for what we saw. Greece is amazing, but if we return someday, we will not do this tour again.

Great day excursion from Athens. Our guides, George and Patty, were incredible, and the sites were worth drive. I wish we'd had a little more time to walk around Nafplio, so if you are reading this, one suggestion is don't sit down for lunch but grab a bite and walk instead.

Patricia_B, May 2025
It was a long day, but George handled it well, keeping us informed and entertained with history and cultural information. The sites were interesting and there were good restaurants available for lunch.

Homyar_N, Apr 2025
Beautiful drive and got to see many interesting archeological sites with knowledgeable guides. I only wish we had more free time to spend in Nafplio - we just barely had time to get some lunch and didn’t really have opportunity to stroll around. Also, slightly more free time at each site, namely the stadium, to just take in the views ourselves.

Athens archaeological trips

Mark_W, Apr 2025
Had a fantastic time with a knowledgeable guide Faye. All the sites we visited were led by a particular expert in each field who provided a great learning experience without overloading us with information.

Outstanding Experience. Bravo!

Steven_T, Apr 2025
OUTSTANDING! This was our first trip to Corinthian Canal, Nafplio, Mycenae and Epidaurus. We have taken many Viator tours before and truly enjoyed how well organized this all day trip was for us. Felt very personalized and we met many wonderful people on our tour. Our guide, Yiorgos (George) was stellar, and the guides at Mycenae and Epidaurus also incredibly talented. Only thing I would recommend is to add more time in Nafplio. It is too beautiful to rush through.

A full day not to be forgotten

Dennis_W, Mar 2025
This was a very well-organized tour. We were picked up in a Mercedes minivan, and there were four of us on the tour, my wife and I and two young men from New Zealand who were living in Berlin. Danae was our group leader, and Costas was our driver. The trip to Mycenae was pleasantly conversational, with a brief 20 minute stop at the Corinth Canal and a photo op. Then on to Mykines to visit the ancient capital of Mycenae. Our Blue Badge guide lived up to my expectations and managed to surprise me with new insights, even though I'd studied all that area since I was in high school. The weather cooperated, which is good because other than a couple of museums attached to the sites everything was outdoors and required a lot of walking. While I (69 y.o.) was able to walk and climb throughout the exhibits, my wife who is mobility challenged mainly traveled up to the entrance of the acropolis using a rolling walker due to the slopes which were a little daunting. The sights were really sights at Mycenae, and you could trace the excavations and follow the plan of the palace due to the maps and models of the place in the museum which we entered before. Entrance fees were €6 per person each for the two major sites, Mycenae and Epidaurus. Lots of pictures and climbing and wandering on our own later, we got back to the van and Costas took us to Nafplio, and some free time. We wandered around the tourist areas and gawked at the castles from afar, then headed toward old town. After a bit we sought out lunch from a seafood restaurant, one of many lining the beachfront, and it was time to travel to Epidaurus. Note: my wife and I in our former lives were theatre professors, and both had "covered" the theatre at Epidaurus for at least 35 years. Nothing can prepare you for the experience, though. We became freshman theatre students on a tour again. Yes, the acoustics were wonderful. and nearly every tour group had a "performer" trying them out. People were respectful and took turns. Lots of pictures and videos and climbing. The theatre itself is a huge bowl of steps with a flat stage area. What we didn't know is that this was primarily a place for people under the care of the healing temple of Asclepius to perform and comment on their traumas with the hope of a cure for them. Most of the other Greek theatres were about celebrating the culture and honoring many gods, in Epidaurus it was about the audience and the performers creating wellness. The tour then led through the temple of Asclepius, baths, sleeping quarters, locations of healing snakes (!!) which sprawled over several acres. Most of them are foundations only, as are the buildings at Mycenae. So: yes it was and experience that was amazing and for a mythology/history/theatre geek such as myself it was an energizing experience. From the quiet on the drive back, you could tell that our tour group was tired and awed by the tour. You will probably be too.

I was very pleased with the tour. Debbie made the trip from Athens fun with lots of history and mythology behind the region. The guide inside the locations was also quite knowledgeable. While we typically explore on our own and at our own pace the tour was a different experience. I certainly appreciate the knowledge and experience from our guides. I would have liked a little more time to explore on our own but understand the time restraints. If I were to do it again I might look for a multi day trip.

Great to step outside Athens and explore!

Miyuki_A, Jan 2025
My husband and I really enjoyed our trip to Mycenae, Epidaurus and the quaint city of Nafplio. Our driver was Alex and he was wonderful. It was such a smooth drive with beautiful coastline views, and he paired it at times with wonderfully informing commentary. His command of the English language is so impressive and he was the perfect guide. We felt safe and well-cared for throughout the trip! He was also attentive and proactive to our needs for a smooth drive due to vertigo concerns which was really appreciated. We also enjoyed our time at the beehive tomb and museum in Mycenae and the museum and theater in Epidaurus with guide, Ms. Patti. Alex timed the excursion wonderfully where we had enough time to see the sites, and have lunch in Nafplio without having to rush. I would highly recommend this tour and hope that you get Alex as a guide!

Not to be missed

Olga_P, Jan 2025
A fantastic excursion! I was one of only 2 visitors on this tour - off season. So grateful that the company did not cancel this tour! A fascinating place and a highly knowledgeable guide. Epidauros was a sanctuary to the god of medicine and healing Asclepius. Did you know that his daughter was giddes Hygiene? The .museum has several curious and funny "prescriptions" for various cures that were given to patients there. Turns out that in addition to healthful diet, healing natural mineral water and physical exercise, patients also participated in the arts as a,part of their spa experience. So the sanctuary had, in addition to the temple, a stadium, hotel, restaurant and theater. Our guide showed us the best preserved ancient theater where they hold a modern theater festival every year. An unforgettable tour!

Great guide

Alex and Ms Patty are great! We enjoyed our tour so much! Felt sorry we had to part! Both are very knowledgeable and friendly people!

Alex, the God of tour guides!

Rika_D, Nov 2024
This tour was amazing for perhaps as many reasons as there are Greek Gods. -Alex was our main guide and driver. He was perfect! Not only is he a native Athenian who knows his country like the back of his hand, he is also an exceptional communicator, English speaker, driver and the kind of guide who delivers great knowledge with infectious enthusiasm. We were in great hands with Alex! -At the site of the Citadel of Mycenae we kept being the luckiest of tourists, because we had Natalie. She is very knowledgeable and helped us soak in the fascinating information of this important site. Having Natalie as a tour guide was like going on a field-trip with that favorite teacher. We learned so much! -We stopped for lunch and window shopping in the quaint and favorite town of Nafplio. We could see the fish near the bottom of the beautifully aqua-colored water. This was just lovely! -Our tour guide at the breathtaking Theatre of Epidaurus was Patty. She is very experienced and knowledgeable. But Patty has more. Being in Patty’s presence is like being embraced by an aura that comes from goodness and wisdom. Inspiring! She might tell you a secret or two. Maybe she was kissed by Apollo? -Alex drove back to Athens via a beautiful coastal road which gave us a chance to take in the gorgeous views of the coastal landscape. Exceptional tour! Thank you, Alex, Natalie and Patty!!!

The Greek Gods came with us!

Maura_A, Nov 2024
Gari, our guide, was steeped in knowledge about Greek mythology and history. We heard all of it from beginning to end…a real treat! Alex, our drive, was a pro, on the rain-soaked, slippery, windy roads. This was a magical, mysterious, marvelous journey, made possible by these two Greek guides! Will never forget this trip!

Great tour

gwend, Oct 2024
Excellent guide who gave in depth explanations of all sights!!! We were not rushed and she was welcoming of all questions!

Great driver/guide, Theodore, made our trip!

Kaye_W, Sep 2024
Our driver/ guide Theodore made the trip a 5 star experience. He was welcoming, smart, talkative, engaging, good at explaining things, thoughtful, knowledgable, kind, with great language skills. The guides at each location were there waiting for us for seamless transitions. I suggest encouraging people to have a snack as lunch is very late but makes sense to have at last stop as many places to eat. As others have reported, getting a sit down meal there uses all your time. So consider just grabbing a gyro and walking around instead.

Well done tour

Deborah_R, Sep 2024
great guide, 9 persons in van, communication about change in pick up location (our apartment on alley and van not fit there). great guides- on van, and in Mycenae and Epiduras. Driver added his input as from Turkey and spoke excellent English. Good number of breaks for bathroom and snacks and lunch break long enough with many choices in Napflio. we ate on the bay very long trip and unfortunately the temperature in the 80’s so very draining but to go from Athens to there will just take time.

Great learning and fun tour
