Awmazing tour and experience to the Acropolis and Parthenon.
Lisa, our guide, was exceptional! Her knowledge of the Acropolis, Parthenon and Greece was incredible. We truly enjoyed the experience especially her assistance with me, along with my husband, in going down from the Acropolis. I still can’t believe we did it! We were sorry we didn’t add in the ticket for the museum. Make sure you book both!
We had a wonderful day with Panos exploring the southeast coast of Greece. They were very accommodating and were able to pick us up right from the airport to take us straight to the excursion.. The vehicle was very comfortable as well. Overall, I recommend this excursion.
Stunning Views, Incredible History, and a Phenomenal Guide
An absolutely fabulous experience from start to finish! The Cape Sounio and Temple of Poseidon tour was breathtaking, but what truly made it unforgettable was our guide, George. He was phenomenal—knowledgeable about Athens and Greek mythology, effortlessly funny, and the perfect balance of polite and professional. He even took us to one of the best local Greek restaurants for lunch, which was a highlight on its own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an exceptional and memorable experience!
The facilities are neat and well kept, the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The experience of having your feet and knees nibbled is fun. The smash burger I had was huge and fantastic as was the sangria. Definitely worth the money in my opinion but this is my first time traveling abroad and I'm all about new experiences. We visited when the weather was a little cool so the water was a little chilly but we put on our suits and got in and there were plenty of people swimming despite the chilly water. There are changing cabanas and showers.
This was the best experience in Greece! Our driver, Kostas, was fun, informative, and efficient. We took the 4 hour tour and visited the balcony of Greece, Olympic Stadium, and the Parthenon. He also took us to the old part of Athens and recommended 2 wonderful restaurants, one for lunch with a rooftop view of the Acropolis, and one for dinner on our own later that evening. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, and everyone had a great time! It was 5 star service everywhere we went! Highly recommend for your time in Greece!
Great way to start your time in Athens. We were able to see so much of Athens and our driver/guide, Constantinous, was excellent. Gave us great information about the history and the current day information about Athens
Recommend highly, well worth your time and money.
Lydia, who was our tour guide at the Acropolis site. She was excellent, knowledgeable and explain in great detail the history of the Acropolis. What a scenery. The site was differently an aww moment for my wife, friends and me. I highly do recommend this tour.
We had a perfect tour of Athens. It only really scratched the surface of this amazing city, there is so much to see, but for a one day tour it was ideal - good combination of driving, walking around and free time without overheating or overdoing it. Álex is a treasure!!! Arrangements wit pick up and drop off directly at our ship were very convenient. All in all good organization and execution - well done!
From the Acropolis, to the agora, to the highest point in the city with most beautiful views, and all over Athens. What a wonderful tour Guide Nikos is. We saw the changing of the guard, and he dropped us at a wonderful restaurant for dinner. Could not have seen all this on our own, thanks heaps Nikos!
Our. Driver, Stefanos picked us up at our hotel and we immediately drove to the Acropolis where we spent about 1.5 hrs exploring the site. We returned to our meeting point and met our driver and we began out tour around Athens. We chose not to visit any more ancient sites though he was willing to take us anywhere we requested Instead we learned about the different neighborhoods in Athens. I.e markets, gov’t buildings, the home of the president, had our picture taken with the military guard there. had delightful stroll through the botanical garden ending near the Olympic stadium. We enjoyed views from the highest point in Athens.
It was a very relaxing and a very informative tour.
We returned to our hotel on time.
Stefanos shared his love for his country and provided us with a great morning.
Our driver Petros was amazing! Picked up in a luxurious van with bucket seating facing each other. We had a lot of luggage and the storage area in the back compartment, held everything with room to spare. Speaks very clearly in English. Had great conversations about the country. Allowed us to modify our timeline for additional fee but was well worth it. Highly recommend him for sightseeing adventure!
Brilliant trip seeing some Athens highlights and of course the acropolis. Pleased we were given 2.5 hours at the acropolis so plenty of time! Vasilis and the driver were both very friendly, helpful and informative! Highly recommended and perfect for cruises.

Not only did we hit all the key spots, he also took us through local neighborhoods and we enjoyed an authentic family-owned Greek restaurant for lunch. Very enjoyable day and well worth it!"
What should I know before booking Athens shore excursions?
Book early during peak season (April to October) to secure your preferred tour, as popular excursions may sell out quickly. Review what's included: Some tours provide skip-the-line tickets and entrance fees, while others require you to pay extra. Finally, read reviews from fellow cruise passengers to find guides with strong historical knowledge and reliable timings.
What are the best tips for enjoying Athens shore excursions?
Wear comfortable walking shoes: Athens' ancient sites feature uneven surfaces and steep steps. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and water, especially during summer months when temperatures soar, and shade is limited at archaeological sites. Don’t be shy about asking your guide questions about Greek history and culture—if you’ve only got limited time in Athens, be sure to make the most of it.
What are other things to do than tours from the Athens cruise port?
There are tons of fun tours and excursions in Athens aside from shore excursions. According to previous travelers, these are the best activities to book for your next trip:
The most convenient way to get from the Port of Piraeus to the Acropolis is to book a shore excursion with round-trip transportation and guides who handle all the logistics. Taxis are also available, but don’t include the historical context you get with a tour. Alternatively, take the metro from Piraeus station to Acropoli, then walk 5 minutes to the site entrance.
Is there enough time to see the Acropolis on a shore excursion?
Yes, there's usually enough time to see the Acropolis on a shore excursion. Many tours run 3–6 hours, allowing plenty of time to explore the Acropolis, Parthenon, and surrounding ancient sites. Your guide will manage timings to ensure you're back at the port well before your ship departs.
What are the best half-day tours from the port?
Half a day is a good amount of time to explore Athens' highlights on a shore excursion. Here are the best tours to book now, according to past travelers:
Book a tour if you want cultural and historical insights, skip-the-line access, and stress-free transportation—guides handle all of these, while ensuring you're back at the port on time. If you simply need direct transportation to Athens and prefer exploring independently, a taxi works, though you'll need to manage entrance tickets and timings yourself.
How far is the port from central Athens?
The main cruise port for Athens is Piraeus, located roughly 6 miles (10 kilometers) southwest of central Athens. By road, the journey takes around 15 minutes in light traffic, depending on your exact destination.
