Amazing bus/tour ride along the Greek coast down to Sounion to see the Temple of Poseidon. The tour guide was fantastic, the bus driver was skilled and navigated the tour bus, professionally, and without incident. The bus itself was modern and beyond comfortable. It provided us exactly what we were looking for!

Itinerary

Your Cape Sounion and Temple of Apollo tour begins with pickup at your Athens hotel or the meeting point on Syntagma Square and transport on board an air-conditioned vehicle to the ancient ruins. Take in views along the Athenian Riviera as you pass Glyfada Beach and Lake Vouliagmeni along the way.

Once you arrive at Cape Sounion, meet your guide for a one-hour tour of the Temple of Poseidon, with admission tickets included. Learn about its history and significance as you snap photos of the ruins and the Aegean Sea before boarding the bus for the return trip and drop-off at the departure point in Athens.

The scenic route was gorgeous, the lake, the sea, the water, wow! Air conditioned and comfortable ride. Be ready for the twist and turns though. It’s a little daunting seeing the sea so close to those turns. The guide was great! I was a little concerned based on the reviews but it was well worth the trip.

Overall I enjoyed the trip. I really enjoyed Poseidons Temple. The drive along the coast was beautiful. It was three hours or traveling for a 30 minute tour. The bus driver didn’t turn on the air conditioning for about an hour and it was almost 40 c in the bus. It was supposed to be an English tour but it turns out it was a French/ English tour and 90% of the group was French. Nothing wrong with that it was just not explained in the description that it would be a mixed language tour.

Stunning drive to the Temple of Poseidon from Athens

The guide Vicki (Vasilliki) was very knowledgeable about Greek history and kept her commentary going for the whole trip. The grandchildren aged 8 and 5 were able to understand and learn from her stories of Greek mythology, places, food etc.

I had trouble reserving online since the site changed my email and I inserted all the payment info but couldn’t get a confirmation. I wanted to speak or chat with a customer service but that was impossible. I retried making the reservation on the next day with higher prices & I was able to do so. it was initially 39.89 euros for the 2 of us for half day pm tour but it got jacked up to $ 155 for the same tour the next day.

Sounion is very much a place of peace! Lovely setting and not too busy. Bus ride was fine. Our guide was ok. I should have read the itinerary better before booking as I missed that this is not a sunset tour. The pick up from the near by hotel is a nice plus but it also cost more compared to other tours.

Not worth the cost and time Guide was not good at the history and the stories . It just felt like a bus ride and back Most importantly they did not pick up form my hotel as promised but had to to go to Amelia hotel I had specified Breeze Boutique as pick and this was confirmed by Viator However when I rang the local tour provider “Chat Tours” they said that there is no pick up from Breeze Boutique and I had to go to Amelia hotel along with my co traveller at my cost Also there was no drop off at Breeze Boutique and we were dropped off at Amelia Hotel. This entailed additional cost for us and also travel time So disappointing. Do not pick this tour

We feel cheated and did not get what we paid for. There were stops on the itinerary that didn't occur, and the sunset was after we got off the bus back in Athens. The driver was excellent but the tour guide was not up to the standard we expected.

The drive had a very scenic route along the sea but our tour guide (I think Hara) was not entertaining at all and did not seem that knowledgeable about the tour (explained things that were quite obvious or part of common knowledge, she also repeated herself so many times to make it look like she was talking more). The temple was beautiful and I am glad to have seen it but don’t book this tour, the cost is not worth the time spent there. We were done looking at the temple in 20 minutes, the tour said they would give us an hour on site so we went to grab a drink at the cafe and 10 mins later the guide ushered us back to the minivan as we were already “late”, we were there for around 35-40 mins on site. Save yourself some money and just rent a car, see the museum for 20 mins and go to a nearby beach.

Dear Mr King, We have to remind you that we had sent meeting point and time from hotel NJV Athens Plaza at 14:40. You were non show and we called your hotel Astor and even the receptionists of your hotel couldn't find you in the hotel. Two persons in your hotel and 2 of us tried to meet you but you were out of the hotel . The departure time of the tour is 15:00 and we called once again the hotel and you were our of the hotel and when they find you they called us and told us to wait at the Amalia hotel as you will come (5 min walking distance) at 15:12 we called again your hotel as you haven't show up and all other passengers in the bus were delayed the hotel told us that you returned back to the hotel and you will not go finally to the tour. As there is no rensponsibility from our side we can't offer refund as we had prepaid your entrance tickets and were non refundable plus your seates remain empty on the bus. Kind regards Hara

Long drive on a windy day. Takes about 5 minutes to see the temple. The group was nice and small. Great views - but that’s not uncommon in Greece. At least there is a cafe.
