This was a cool experience that I am glad we did during our time in Venice. It was cool to participate in making a glass pendant that was fairly simple but still involved several steps where we got to actually hold the glass and work with the flame and other tools. The we got to watch a demonstration of the instructor making something much more complicated which was cool.

Loved this experience, such a unique opportunity to do in Venice. Massimiliano was really interesting to get to know, so passionate about his craft, plus he was so patient with us novices, makes you feel really comfortable. Loved giving this a try, full of respect for how skilled this is! It was great at the end to watch Massimiliano create a unique piece of art which we happily snapped up for an extremely reasonable price and now we have as a truly unique glass souvenir. This was a great class. It was small and intimate and our host was funny and focused on keeping us safe and making sure we didn't do anything wrong. At the end you get a masters demonstration of a much more complicated artwork that is amazing to see take shape in front of your eyes. You will get to make a pendant and you will also get a chance for a discount at other works in the shop. (we bought a couple of horses). Noting that murano glass is often counterfeit or mass produced in Venice, its nice to know what you buy with the host is his own making and it makes it a nice piece to have in your office or home.

Massimiliano was such a pleasure to visit with! He explained every step of the process, and made sure that the piece that we walked away with was something that would be structurally secure, but also something beautiful that we created. I loved that this was a small private lesson, and not a large group. The pendant that we made we were able to walk away with at the end of the lesson in case anyone is worried about slow cooling periods. After we did our project Massimiliano let us pick which kind of project we wanted to see him make. It was so fascinating to watch how effortless he makes it look! This was a highlight of my trip to Venice!

It was absolutely stunning watching the artist work. It was really fun trying to do it yourself and the artist guide you calmly to really make the experience even more enjoyable. The artist has a lot of patience so you can feel relaxed and he really puts great effort in not making it feel that you are a novice. There are also many amazing works of art to admire and purchase afterwards.

Massimiliano Caldarone is an artist who shares his art with you for a full experience. You get to feel the glass turn to liquid and then shape it. He patiently teaches so you are prepared and keeps you calm when you want to tense with the actual doing. You end up with a piece you have truly created, selecting your colors and mixing them as you choose.
And then you get to watch him perform as an artist. We loved the creation of one of his trademark dancers. His movements matched the music, and we all wanted to take the resulting glass dancer home with us.
I definitely recommend this experience. You won’t be disappointed!

We had a wonderful time! Learning about the history of Murano glass making was interesting, seeing a demonstration was impressive, but being able to make our own pendants (hands on!) was nothing like we’ve ever done before. Our hotel was on Murano for the trip, so we went by a lot of glass making factories and demonstrations. But, we didn’t see a single one that allowed for a hands on experience.

The man is rude, not welcoming, unpleasant and abrupt, he made us feel uncomfortable and we left after 20 min.
Viator will not refund us.
