Itinerary
Your walking tour starts in Campo San Geremia, a picturesque square in the quiet, tucked-away district of Cannaregio. Experience Venice as locals live it, far from the usual crowds of tourists. Listen to the story of the square’s unusual and comic history. You’ll be in a group of only 15 people maximum (or a private group if option selected), so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Cross over Cannaregio’s tranquil foot bridges into the Jewish Quarter—the origin of the word “ghetto.” Step inside the church of the Madonna dell’Orto, famous for its Tintoretto paintings. Learn why the stunning facade of the Palazzo Mastelli del Cammello is nicknamed “Camel House.”
Get a peek at a historic gondola factory as you wind your way toward one of the city’s star attractions: Rialto Bridge. Listen to your guide recount stories about the traditions and little-known stories behind the 16th-century landmark. The tour ends here in the heart of Venice, but you’ll be well-positioned to continue exploring on your own.

Our guide was great!
He showed us around Venice and also answered our questions.
I would do this tour again.

Mikela was very engaging, knowledgeable and warm. She made the tour fun, informative and lively. She even recommended a gluten free restaurant at the end that turned out to be close by and fantastic. Time and money well spent :)

Tour guide was nice and knowledgeable and happy to answer any random questions we had. It was nice to get out of the main tourist attractions.

We had spent several days in Venice so I was wondering if this would hold anything new. The tour guide was great! He shared so much information we otherwise wouldn't have known. Even for the places we had previously visited, the information made it worth visiting again. I especially liked learning about the Jewish Ghetto area and memorial.
I definitely recommend this tour!

Excellent tour, Michela our guide was knowledgeable, helpful and polite, highlighted everything from WWII, Mussolini and Napoleon to modern day venician life.
I wouldn't recommend if you struggle with bridges as we crossed many, other wise well worth the trip.

Lorenzo was a wonderful guide. The tour was very informative. Great if you want to experience the more quiet and peaceful side of Venice.
Monika_B, Jun 2026
Nicola was an excellent tour guide. We delved into the hidden side of Venice away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and experienced for a short while how true Venetian live while mixing in the history of Venice. He was a lively guide with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend.
Kevin_G, Jun 2026
Mikaela is a wonderful guide. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. She knew the answer to all of our questions and made Venice more interesting. I would definitely recommend her.
Pauline_J, Jun 2026
An excellent tour led by a delightful, intelligent and knowledgeable guide. We learnt so much in the two hours. As well as many interesting facts and figures our guide shared some of her own personal memories of her school days as we strolled past her old school in a leafy part of Cannareggio. This all added to the enjoyment.
Liam_B, Jun 2026
Very much an alternative view of Venice and all the better for that. Nico was really informative as he plotted our way through the less traveled routes.

Great value to start your Venice trip. Our guide Micheala was wonderful. Expert, kind, engaged and committed to all of us.

Great intro to Venice. Matteo was an excellent guide and the route was easy but very informative. Highly recommend!
Rebecca_M, Jun 2026
Nico was a wonderful guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the city and took us to streets and areas off the beaten path we would otherwise not have visited. Well worth it!

This was excellent. Our guide, Miheala was superb. The pace was just right and she imparted loads of interesting information. Anytime something wass happening around us she took the oportunity to explain what was going on. Miheala also gave us some great tips for things to visit and see and also other useful facts. The group had some mixed ages and she kept the pace perfect for all. I would definitley recommend.

Excellent, hidden paths, away from tourists, awesome! many insights that usually go unnoticed, moved quickly, not all about history etc.... loved it!
Kristen_M, Jun 2026
Our guide Sebastiano was engaging, knowledgeable and overall a pleasure to meet and learn from. As a native Venetian he is passionate about his home and all the history and lore that makes it an amazing location everyone should visit. We learned about the hidden gems, unknown lookouts and personal stories that drive any good immersion experience. Would highly recommend this tour and more specifically Sebastiano.
Kathryn_H, May 2026
Our local guide had deep knowledge of the history of those corners of Venice that you hear less about
otwells2, May 2026
Very detailed and interesting. Great information on the history of Venice and areas you would not see on a classic tour. Giovanni was MAGNIFICO!
Clare_D, May 2026
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant but so so slow in moving. I understand the need to adapt to all in the group but there was no happy medium here. We crawled along, overtaken by all other groups. When a question was asked, we all had to come to a complete standstill. It was genuinely annoying, esp in the rain and later full on sun.
susan_r, May 2026
Sebastiano is a very personable young man
The intro should have been away from all the noise of the canal as it was distracting
Our tour started late waiting for 2 no shows and ended early
The tour was informative
We were supposed to end at the Rialto market but stopped 15 mins away from the market
Neel_M, May 2026
Michiela, our guide, was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and gave us the history behind the northern part of Venice while we toured it, which is much more residential than the touristy southern part! We enjoyed seeing the spectacular views of the lagoon as well!
Norma_B, May 2026
The tour was good and showed places you do not get to see in big tours. Personal attention and the kindness of our guide was a plus. I wish he spoke slower because his strong italian accent was a little distracting. I recommend this tour!!
Ashley_P, May 2026
We had our tour with sebastiano and he was wonderful. Incredibly informative and showed us the quieter areas of Venice. The only thing we wish is we had him for longer, 2 hours goes so fast!
David_S, May 2026
The guide was great, but I was hoping for more content from the tour. More places, more history. The guide was well spoken and very courteous.
Derrick_D, May 2026
It was a great tour taking us off the beaten path and into quieter areas of the city. Amazing finding areas the locals frequent away from all the noise.
Curt_H, May 2026
Knowledgeable guide; grew up in Venice. Showed us the world’s first pawn shop and explained how the term “ghetto” was derived.
Lauren_m, May 2026
Our your guide was very engaging and knowledgeable. She provided great context to everything we saw, and took us to areas few tourists visit. This was the best tour we had in Venice, and I highly recommend it!
Susan_B, May 2026
Matteo was fun and energetic. Very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions for after the tour. Perfect amount of time.
Peter_M, May 2026
This tour provides a look at less visited parts of Venice. From the Jewish ghetto to a pretty park to various interesting courtyards and plazas, the guide gave us nice insights regarding Venice and its people. He also had a great sense of humor. And there is a really good view of El Rialto bridge at the end.
