I loved that the experience started with a trip to the supermarket. April was the best cooking teacher and guide. She is very knowledgeable and encouraged us every step of our cooking journey. It was also fun to have beer and sake tasting during our cooking lesson. The cooking studio is very spacious. And well set up.

We had just arrived the night before to Tokyo. This was our first "taste" of Japan and it couldn't have been better. Masai, our instructor, was very knowledge and super patient with us. She had traveled to the west and had great comparisons between western and Japanese cuisine, also describing how to pick the right vegetables, fish, and the right combination of ingredients for constructing sauces, even the various types of sake. And our "classmates", a group of German friends traveling together that also were taking the class, turned out to be a great group of folks; much laughter, great fun. It was a great way for my wife and I to experience a US Thanksgiving in Japan (the class was on our Thanksgiving) and we were very thankful that this was the way we started our trip.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that Masai made your first taste of Japan so enjoyable, informative, and fun. It’s great that you had a memorable experience with your classmates and celebrated Thanksgiving in such a special way. We hope we can welcome you on another tour in the future.

Our instructor, Mihori, led us on a unique and memorable cooking lesson. We went grocery shopping for the ingredients we would need for our meal and she gave us tips along the way. From there we walked to the cooking studio and cooked for roughly 3 hours. We made everything from scratch: miso soup, fried eggplant, rolled omelette, and a sushi roll. Afterward, we feasted on all of the delicious food we made. Mihori not only taught us about Japanese cuisine, she also chatted with us about Japanese culture. Our family of four includes two kids, ages 10 and 14, and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience too.

Great experience!
Our tour guide was nice, fun and informative. We chopped at a nearby grocery store and learned a lot about some Japanese veggies and meat. We then proceeded to a private place where we made some fun dishes. My two teenagers really enjoyed it. We ate, learned and had fun. We will go back to her if we are in Tokyo again.

A very well organised time and we really enjoyed the variety of visiting a local supermarket as well as the cooking. Also being able to ask questions about Tokyo life.

Nigiri was a very good teacher. She was happy to share her knowledge of cooking ingredients. I got to do a lot of hands on cooking and the recipes were tasty and not complicated. I am looking forward to trying them at home.

Fantastic experience with Alice.
Very complete activity. After shopping, we were able to prepare a full 4-course meal and enjoy it with sake.
It was the best miso soup I ever had 👍
